Tags: inXile Entertainment; The Bard's Tale (2004)IGN has posted a preview of The Bard's Tale, the latest creation of Brian Fargo, who, accordng to IGN, is a "creator of Fallout and Baldur's Gate". Apparently, BT 2004 is "based loosely on the PC original", and "is a refreshing take on the seemingly overused Baldur's Gate engine".
So now that I've had some time to see what The Bard's Tale is all about, will it challenge some of the great RPGs coming out this year? Well, I dunno about that, but I do promise that it's an experience you just won't find in any other game. It's really a treat, at least three hours deep. But will that last the length of the game? I sure hope so, because this is a lengthy game.
Three hours in and I have yet to be introduced to the main story (though I know there is a significant one waiting). I have a feeling inXile just wants to get people settled into the Bard's world and how the snarky/nice system works before putting them into any true intrigue. But you will get to see some outside areas quickly and these are all very open, spacious places a la the wilderness in Norrath.3 hours in and no main story in sight? OMG! They've cloned Morrowind!
