Oh yes, he tuk it alright, and it was anything but consensual! Caused me some severe psychological trauma, in fact, but try arguing that in court. Not many people these days care about genuine victims of savage assault and oppresshun, only them womyn and their make-believe pity stories get attention in libruhal society. I reckon there are hundreds of millions of people just like me out there, living in fear and shame with no one to speak on their behalf.

(man, I wish I could get paid to tour schools and warn them kids about the evils of BioWare and their illusion of choice, Lord knows there are worse frauds in that whole racket, I'd basically incline it)

Here's an idea, MicoSelva: accomplish what Kalin was denied. Once the game cheats the Codex out of his rod, cheat it back, using the console.
It still kills you when you enter a new area.
You cannot mess with Gaider's rod

So you drop it every time you're preparing to leave an area, and cheat it back once you get into the new one :smug:

What are the exact effects of the rod, anyway ? I don't think I ever used it against anyone but the Unseeing Eye and it seems to take away more than 3/4th of its HP.

I think is like a harm spell or something. It always leaves the opponent in "near death" status.

To much truble for Gayders rod. If he likes it so much he can keep it. :mhd:

There's a slight chance for an update tomorrow evening, but don't hold Your breath.
It would be good to post it, though, as the next opportunity will be in around 10 days.

This LP made me laugh at something with yakety sax for the first time in my life.
You should read my BG1 LP then.
Or Merkwürdigliebe's IceWind Dale LP.
Or descupado's IWD2 LP.

Using it has become somewhat a tradition for LPs of Infinity Engine games.

Well I did warn that there was only a slight chance for an update last Friday.
Next one is possible on Sunday earliest, but Monday is more probable.*

*barring some unexpected free time developments

Last time on Let's Insane Solo Baldur's Gate 2:

bg2_up17_035.jpg

But we should be done with Beholders by now. I'm sure they will not appear again. Ever. Yeah, never again.

codex_10.jpg
Good. They were a nice one-time challenge, but I wouldn't want to make a habit of fighting them. It was a tad tedious.

Update #18: Bad Religion, Part IV - Feeding the OCD

bg2_up18_000.jpg

codex_10.jpg
So, here I am. Willingly entering the dumping place for the bodies of people not worthy to join a cult of sewer-dwelling cripples. Could it possibly be any worse?

There could be undead in here.

bg2_up18_001.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Oh, FFS.

bg2_up18_002.jpg

codex_10.jpg
I like my undead extra crispy.

bg2_up18_003.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Wait, mummies and ghasts? This group of undead is exactly the same as the one I've met previously! What a ripoff.

bg2_up18_004.jpg

We're out of ground to cover for... tactical retreating, so we make our stand here.

bg2_up18_005.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Easy peasy.

bg2_up18_006.jpg

We have no other option than to go forward, by the way.

codex_10.jpg
Isn't it always this way?

bg2_up18_007.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Oh, look, three mummies and two ghasts. Surprise, surprise.

Apparently the creature spawner decided these are the optimal enemies for you at current level.

codex_10.jpg
He should read about combat encounter variety.

I don't think it's a person.

codex_10.jpg
Oh. I guess it does excuse some ignorance. Partially.

bg2_up18_008.jpg

codex_10.jpg
You'll help me deal with these creatures, LEE.

bg2_up18_009.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Wow, he's actually doing a pretty good job.

I'm not sure if elementals should be referred to as males.

codex_10.jpg
They're male until proven otherwise, so says The Codex.

bg2_up18_010.jpg

Since the elemental was not able to hurt the mummies, and vice-versa, The Codex steps up to clear things up.

codex_10.jpg
I always have to do everything by myself in the end.

bg2_up18_011.jpg

codex_10.jpg
What? Not fucking AGAIN.

Hello, spawn_undead_med. Long time no see.

bg2_up18_012.jpg

codex_10.jpg
I don't have the patience for you assheads. Don't move.

bg2_up18_013.jpg

Web allowed us to kill a mummy and two ghasts without any threat.

codex_10.jpg
That's what I call effective use of resources.

bg2_up18_014.jpg

The Codex quickly deals with the remnants.

bg2_up18_015.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Wait. I've already cleared the way to the next area. There's literally nothing stopping me from progressing this quest forward. Why would I even want to check these falling apart ruins?

Because of Your craving for adventure?

codex_10.jpg
How is staying here more adventurous than moving on?

The rule is we explore every area thoroughly. Stop complaining and get inside.

codex_10.jpg
Fucking OCD players.

bg2_up18_016.jpg

codex_10.jpg
OMG zombies.

bg2_up18_017.jpg

Zombies put up enough of a fight that The Codex is forced to hide behind a Stoneskin.

codex_10.jpg
It's just... a precaution.

bg2_up18_018.jpg

I'm not sure what that 'Held' icon is doing on The Codex' portrait, as he was not immobilised.

bg2_up18_019.jpg

codex_10.jpg
A talking zombie. I should capture him alive and sell to the circus.

I don't think it's a zombie.

bg2_up18_020.jpg

codex_10.jpg
It's going down either way.

bg2_up18_021.jpg

codex_10.jpg
*cough* *cough* Bad breath...

bg2_up18_022.jpg

Okay. Someone is definitely going down.

bg2_up18_023.jpg

Not a zombie.

Death Count: 104

Loading.

codex_10.jpg
This world needs toothpaste like you have no idea.

bg2_up18_024.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Go get them, 'zerk!

berserker_small.jpg
KILL DEAD!

codex_10.jpg
Sucker.

bg2_up18_025.jpg

berserker_small.jpg
MOMMY!

codex_10.jpg
Could you stay alive for a few more seconds? I need the provided distraction.

bg2_up18_026.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Thanks for nothing, useless shit.

bg2_up18_027.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Oh, wait, it actually worked!

bg2_up18_028.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Lookey lookey.

bg2_up18_029.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Not bad at all. Just... not good enough.

bg2_up18_030.jpg

We also find some minor loot.

bg2_up18_031.jpg

And more minor loot.

bg2_up18_032.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Oh fuck. Is that a lich?

Yep.

bg2_up18_033.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Alright, the bonehead is dealt with.

bg2_up18_034.jpg

codex_10.jpg
What is this scroll?

bg2_up18_035.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Wicked.

We are still quite a ways from casting level 7 spells, though.

bg2_up18_036.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Um... invisible here?

Liches can see the invisible, if I'm correct.

bg2_up18_037.jpg

It seems like I was correct.

Death Count: 105

Load game.

codex_10.jpg
I should approach this from the right angle.

So only the Lich sees You?

codex_10.jpg
So only the lich sees me.

bg2_up18_038.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Of course he has a crapload of spells that trigger immediately, the cheating bastard.

I would like to remind that it is You who uses the all-powerful Load Game spell.

bg2_up18_039.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Here, have some ring of the ram.

bg2_up18_040.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Come on! Is that all you've got?

bg2_up18_041.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Oh gods it's a lich! Help me!

bg2_up18_042.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Oh no! I am so dead!

bg2_up18_043.jpg

The Lich does not fuck around, bombing everything in sight, including itself.

codex_10.jpg
It's Achmed the dead terrorist, I am doomed!

bg2_up18_044.jpg

Actually, I don't remember fighting a Lich in this place in my previous playthroughs. Must be a level scaling thing.

Death Count: 106

Reloading.

codex_10.jpg
I hate liches.

bg2_up18_045.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Go and write your symbol stun on the toilet door, it may have an impact then!

bg2_up18_046.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Remind me, why haven't we used resist fear before trying this again?

We haven't?

bg2_up18_047.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Aaaaaaaaah!

Huh. We actually forgot.

bg2_up18_048.jpg

Kind of funny, when You think about it.

Death Count: 107

Load.

codex_10.jpg
Not a word, or you die a horrible death.

bg2_up18_049.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Now, let's try this again.

bg2_up18_051.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Come on, you pansy!

bg2_up18_052.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Ooh, did I just break your concentration? Because I believe I did!

bg2_up18_053.jpg

I hope Project Eternity allows us for duels as cool as this (hopefully with less metagaming). I will be disappointed otherwise.

bg2_up18_054.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Ooh, ooh, hot, hot! Fucking kamikaze cheater liches! Enough with the protection from magical weapons!

bg2_up18_055.jpg

codex_10.jpg
I know this is a dirty trick, but you started it...

nishruu.jpg
<HISS!>

bg2_up18_056.jpg

Wail of the Banshee was always an overrated spell, in my opinion, or I just couldn't find a correct way to use it efficiently.

codex_10.jpg
So, either a super-cool spell is useless, or you're an idiot? Yeah, I wonder which one of these is true...

bg2_up18_057.jpg

Anyway, the Lich turned himself invisible, so we use this spell to cancel that.

bg2_up18_058.jpg

codex_10.jpg
I love it when they waste all these high-level spells on my nishruu.

nishruu.jpg
FEED ME!

bg2_up18_059.jpg

codex_10.jpg
This is what happens when you mess with The Codex!

bg2_up18_060.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Booyah!

bg2_up18_061.jpg

codex_10.jpg
The rest of these losers should be small fry compared to the lich I've just killed.

bg2_up18_062.jpg

codex_10.jpg
This 'almost a fireball' will help as achieve yet another epic victory over the undead.

bg2_up18_063.jpg

codex_10.jpg
HAHAHAHAHA!

bg2_up18_064.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Actually, I was hoping for a bit more casualties from that spell, but whatever.

bg2_up18_065.jpg

codex_10.jpg
I can still do it, if I don't get surrounded.

bg2_up18_066.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Well, fuck.

bg2_up18_068.jpg

...

Death Count: 108

Reload.

codex_10.jpg
I am currently unavailable for comment.

How about we fight one undead at a time?

codex_10.jpg
It's a little derogatory, but since you don't have any better ideas...

bg2_up18_069.jpg

codex_10.jpg
A greater mummy? What'so great about it?

I'm guessing they're stronger.

bg2_up18_070.jpg

codex_10.jpg
And apparently immune to fire arrows...

Noted.

bg2_up18_071.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Well, maybe I wasn't able to hurt it at a distance, but at least I managed to cast mirror image before it got close.

bg2_up18_072.jpg

Well, I'll be damned...

Death Count: 109

Loading.

codex_10.jpg
I hate mummies.

bg2_up18_073.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Oh, come on! Arrows +2 don't work either?! Time to use the tried and true means...

bg2_up18_074.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Magic missile!

bg2_up18_075.jpg

codex_10.jpg
And... magic missile!

bg2_up18_076.jpg

codex_10.jpg
And more magic missile!

bg2_up18_077.jpg

codex_10.jpg
And even more... why don't you die already!?

I see the number of our readers dwindling rapidly.

bg2_up18_078.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Finally!

I hope You saved some Magic Missiles for the other Greater Mummy...

codex_10.jpg
What? There's another one?

bg2_up18_079.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Stop scar- annoying me. It's just a skeleton warrior.

bg2_up18_080.jpg

codex_10.jpg
SHIT, that's cold!

He seems to be a better bowman than You.

bg2_up18_081.jpg

codex_10.jpg
But I'm a better mage, fuck you. Mirror image!

bg2_up18_082.jpg

Mirror Image just ain't what it used to be.

Death Count: 110

Load.

codex_10.jpg
Ok, enough is enough. I am going to go all out on these motherfuckers.

Is that wise?

bg2_up18_083.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Wise? No. Awesome? Fuck yeah!

bg2_up18_084.jpg

codex_10.jpg
You can't see me, you can't kill me.

bg2_up18_085.jpg

codex_10.jpg
For once, let's see if they can breach my magic protection.

bg2_up18_086.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Come to papa...

bg2_up18_087.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Oohyeah, I own this place!

bg2_up18_088.jpg

codex_10.jpg
You can't hurt... What, the spell has worn off already?

bg2_up18_089.jpg

Tragic.

Death Count: 111

Load game.

codex_10.jpg
My plan needs adjustments.

bg2_up18_091.jpg

codex_10.jpg
I need to be dealing more damage per round to be able to pull this off. Haste should take care of that.

bg2_up18_092.jpg

codex_10.jpg
That does it for the bonehead.

bg2_up18_093.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Oh yes. Who's your daddy, mummy!

bg2_up18_095.jpg

codex_10.jpg
I guess we're done here. The rest of these corpses are pretty much dead already.

It's hard to argue with that last sentence.

bg2_up18_096.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Since I'm expecting mummies and ghasts ahead...

bg2_up18_097.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Look, I was right!

Load game is truly the most powerful clairvoyance spell of all.

bg2_up18_098.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Now, now, resistance is futile!

bg2_up18_099.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Told you.

bg2_up18_100.jpg

codex_10.jpg
You are spot on Lilarcor, as always.

bg2_up18_101.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Looting time!

bg2_up18_102.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Gloves that lower your dexterity to 18? Completely useless.

I think, we've already done this joke in our BG1 LP.

codex_10.jpg
Well, it's even funnier now!

bg2_up18_103.jpg

Area completed... I guess? The map is a bit dark, so I can't really tell.

Next time: The epic finale, in which we'll check how divine is the divinity of the Unseeing Eye.

codex_10.jpg
And loot his corpse.
Next quest selection details:
Below You can find the list of the suggested quest options (in chronological order, as suggested). There are nine of them, so I will roll a d9 to randomly select one as the next adventure of The Codex.

If I missed someone's suggestion, sorry, cannot be undone now. Try again next time.

1. Druid Grove [Erebus] <- the bastard changed his vote and I almost missed it
1. Mae'Var [Storyfag]
2. Kangaxx [TOME]
3. Firkraag [Shadenaut]
4. Firkraag [Zero Credibility]
5. Firkraag [Azira]
6. Firkraag [Krivol]
7. Kangaxx [Erebus]
8. Kangaxx [Ulminati]
9. Mae'Var [marooned]

EDIT: Mae'Var it is, then.
Another EDIT: I clicked 'roll again' by accident. The first result stands, of course.

I don't think I ever faced a lich there. There's more level-scaling in BG2 than I thought.

I believe liches are completely immune to spells that aren't at least level 5, though I'm not completely sure.

I didn't. I just meant that if the choice was between Kangaxx and Firkraag, I was in favor of Kangaxx. Well, it didn't matter anyway.

Actually, it did. Since the roll was a 1, it would be Your option (the first one suggested). If You are sure that You opted for Druid Grove, I am not above making some impromptu adjustments to the lottery, if only to annoy Storyfag. ;)

Nah, it doesn't matter. Maevar's Guild should be interesting too.
