And here is the official theme music for this update:
We could joke that this is the awesome button, but we have already found that in the Underdark.
Could still be awesome...?
Forget I said anything.
First orcs and now hobgoblins. This level is just making fun of me.
It started with orcs, but ended with dragons, so it might still surprise you.
A consumable with no description or way to identify what it does. Thanks, but I'm not in the mood for roguelikes.
Let's push the button some more (note: I cut out all screenshots where we push the same button again, to save time and
space sanity).
Kuo-toa... That's a step up from hobgoblins... In some ways.
But in others, it's not.
Fuuuuuuuuuck yoooooouuuuuur slooooooow speeeeeeell.
AndNowICanEatSushiWhenICampForToday.
Back to the machine.
Trolls! SuperCool!
ThisLooksLikeAJobFor... TrollSwatter!
StayStill...
LoL.
More button-pushing awaits.
Oh fuck.
These are greater wolfweres, if someone had any doubts.
Luckily, I am not a defenseless noob that I was when I fought these for the first time.
One more moment...
OH FUCK YEAH!
Fall before The Codex!
Die like puppies you are!
Bad dog!
Oh yeah, bring more of those sweet level ups.
I can hardly get any more awesome, but every little bit helps.
I think it is time to finally get this ability. I have a feeling it might be useful... soon.
I think we broke it.
One of the red globes is not a consumable and needs to be placed in the right pillar (column?).
Red vs. blue. Which is better and why?
Discuss!
A hot mage chick? Ok, blue is better.
She is hostile, though.
Most women I meet are. I really don't know why...
Sucks to be a mage when you fight against a dude wielding a sword of dispel magic and 50% magic resistance.
This is another mage, in case you are wondering.
She is however, going the same route.
Oh look, she's resisting. How cute.
Mwahahahaha! Slaughter!
I am not sure if you should be enjoying slaughtering women so much.
But she didn't like me!
Not enough of an excuse, I am afraid...
I bet Jack The Ripper was as misunderstood as I am.
Let us just push that button again.
I need to install this chick-dispenser in my Planar Sphere.
Oh, sweetie...
Such things don't work on me.
You should have also not bothered with the make-up.
Seriously, why are they all women?
Aah, there you are!
Kind of disappointed here. I expected them to get stronger after each button push.
Well, they probably were.
Let's see what's in the green.
Ok, so, the key here is non-humanoid monsters?
I'm not sure they are worth that much XP.
Pushing the button again.
Are umber hulks humanoid?
For me, about as much as Kuo-Toa.
They are much less annoying to fight against, though.
Ok, I am lost now.
But not as lost as to forget I got this!
First try.
Third try.
Uh.... not sure.
It's like a harvest season here today.
In case you are wondering why I invested into Set Traps again... There is no answer.
My experience is you can never have too many of those.
Let's recommence our button-mashing.
Ok, this is a significant step-up from the last group...
Hive Mother, Death Tyrant and Elder Orb. Nice bunch.
Well, that was fast.
Death Count: 329
Load Game.
I expect a problematic encounter.
But these can usually be defeated by casting powerful spells in advance.
Those beholders will have a few surprises waiting for them.
Also, brosword, for distraction.
I do not envy that sword.
Aah, we meet at last. How did you like my welcoming gift?
And you are right on time too, I have just finished with your friend!
Critical strike: converts 100% of hits into crits.
What are you babbling about?
Nothing, nothing...
I love how they only fall down after they realize they're dead.
This hive mother seems like quite a tough nut to crack.
But this is easily solved, I assume.
Ok, maybe I will use one other ability...
Yet another hostile female.
Death Count: 330
Loading.
Do we have a plan?
Try to kill her before she kills you.
You truly are a master tactician. Not.
You! Die!
I hate women, who won't listen!
This is not going well!
Ah? What? Are you dead? Shit...
Death Count: 331
Load.
Seriously, we need a plan.
Was there not a spell that should protect you from her abilities?
Oh yeah! Now I am invulnerable!
It does not seem to be as effective as I've remembered it to be!
YES!
So, was this pure chance or has that globe actually helped?
Whatever! I won!
And that does it for the green button, so let me just quickly put this into place.
And here.
This is the last one.
Oh. I's going to be undead, isn't it?
I've got just the tool for that!
Bad idea! Bad idea! The mace sucks!
Lack of mace proficiency probably has some significance here.
I will just whack them with my uberstick!
(If only I remembered we found the 1d6+10 damage Staff of the Ram in the previous update...)
Ready when you are!
I don't think they should be bleeding.
Somebody call Bioware to patch this out.
You can stop circle-jerking there. Time to die... Uh, I mean: be destroyed.
Somebody call Bioware to patch 'Skeleton Warrior - Death' out too.
And that's that.
To the purple button!
Wait, weren't devil shades the ones that turned out surprisingly lethal just a while ago?
Yup, I remembered that correctly. Stoneskin time!
Fuck, stop interrupting me!
Come on, give me a little break!
Go away, I'm busy!
Fuuuuuckyouuuu!
Let's see what this ability is worth.
I seem to still be alive...
Again!
Gotcha!
Fuck, fuck, fuck!
I see you have been separated from your friends...
And they've arrived just in time to see you die!
Fuck you, fiends, you're not killing me!
The strength modification you see on The Codex's portrait is the effect of one of the consumable globes from the monster summoning machine. I am not sure how much of a boost it provided.
HA! I prevail once again!
Time to summon the next group.
Vampires? How are these stronger than devil shades?
Maybe these are ancient vampires or something like that?
BOOOYAH!
They weren't ancient. I hope for something more interesting this time.
A lich? They clearly underestimate me.
Oh, wait, there are two.
Get on with it!
Whack.
Lol, that backsunfired pretty bad.
Whoa, too close for a first date!
Heh.
Time to put the last globe into place.
So underwhelming.
What? I've just spent hours fighting waves and waves of enemies that I summoned myself! How is that wisdom?
Next time: The glorious tale of how we got the last key, obviously.
