I only finished Dragon Commander, which ironically might be their worst game (except Beyond Divinity). I did play Divinity 2, but only in the Dragon Knight Saga edition.

Draconis was more annoying than difficult. His acid breath was the worst to deal with as it killed The Codex in 3 hits, but with Protection From Energy (which gives 75% elemental resistance) that turned into 13-14 hits, making this ability irrelevant. However, he also had a lot of cheap physical attacks that bypassed Stone Skin, and those were the main threat here. Maybe Protection From Magical Weapons would have taken care of those, but I did not bother to check.

There is a slight chance that the next update will appear today, but do not cancel your evening plans just yet.

Never approach a dragon suffering from a cold.

Update #107: A Farewell to Dragons, part II - Dragon Slave

bg2_up107_000.jpg

codex_10.jpg
I knew this side of that huge door would not be spacious enough for dragons.

bg2_up107_001.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Note to self: greater werewyne... werevy... werevyr...

bg2_up107_002.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Note to self: hard spelling can kill you.

Good thing no AI paths were designed between those areas.

bg2_up107_003.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Let me just grab a shield, so that were-something does not get to bite me so easily.

Also, we renewed stone skin, just in case.

bg2_up107_004.jpg

codex_10.jpg
So, this is someone who turns into a wyvern at full moon?

I do not think the full moon rule works in D&D. They just turn whenever they want, as far as I know.

bg2_up107_005.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Turns out it had a crapload of hit points, but not that many levels to drain. :smug:

bg2_up107_006.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Ooh, yeah. I love this sword so much I would have sex with it if I could.

bg2_up107_007.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Huh?

bg2_up107_008.jpg

Item descriptions giving hints on what to do next. That is some Dark Souls level intricacy. Or just lazy writing.

bg2_up107_009.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Seriously? They put a trap right at the main entrance? Those two guards I killed had charged right through this thing!

I imagine after dozens of accidents the remaining personnel finally learned to step over this trap instinctively. Also, it must have had a hilarious prank potential for new recruits.

bg2_up107_010.jpg

codex_10.jpg
I won't even bother to search for my 'staff of killing these things'.

bg2_up107_011.jpg

codex_10.jpg
I don't remember who I had to kill or maybe sacrifice to get this sword, but it was worth it!

bg2_up107_012.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Maybe in a moment.

bg2_up107_013.jpg

codex_10.jpg
There are still piles of dirt to clean up here.

bg2_up107_014.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Between this and pest control, I put the almighty janitor trope to the next level.

bg2_up107_015.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Uh-huh.

bg2_up107_064.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Typical.

At least the message is different from the generic 'no lockpicking or simple spells allowed'.

bg2_up107_063.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Well, I HAD to check.

bg2_up107_016.jpg

codex_10.jpg
See you on the other side.

bg2_up107_017.jpg

codex_10.jpg
What, you were maybe expecting Dagon?

bg2_up107_019.jpg

Note: I forgot about the Wave halberd, or this fight would have been much easier.

bg2_up107_020.jpg

codex_10.jpg
It's not exactly hard, but their frost aura does sting a bit.

bg2_up107_021.jpg

codex_10.jpg
I have regenerated so often in my life that my cells must think they're two hundred years old.

Maybe your cells just do not get bored, and may divide indefinitely.

bg2_up107_022.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Ok, so it's a two-way tunnel. I'll be back.

bg2_up107_023.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Oh, hello there. You provide a great opportunity for me...

bg2_up107_024.jpg

codex_10.jpg
...to try out my New And Improved(TM) Runehammer.

bg2_up107_025.jpg

codex_10.jpg
And they turned out not to be undead. Typical.

I told you. There will be no more undead in the game. That Runehammer improvement was either trolling or New Game Plus shenanigan.

By the way, readers, if you have never tried playing BG2 with your end-of-ToB exported character, I encourage you do that, as it is pretty hilarious. For example, not that many enemies from regular Shadows of Amn can hurt someone immune to normal and +1 weapons. Some of the weapons are downright game-breaking, and Runehammer is not even a serious contender here.

bg2_up107_026.jpg

codex_10.jpg
First of all: how the fuck is this room even here. Second: why were those bone constructs inside. Third: HOW DOES THIS TRAP MAKE ANY SENSE?

bg2_up107_027.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Fine. At this point, nothing can surprise me.

Want to bet? :smug:

bg2_up107_028.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Alright then.

bg2_up107_029.jpg

codex_10.jpg
With my stats and powers I should be able to hold my breath indefinitely, or even breathe underwater.

bg2_up107_030.jpg

However, the potion alone is not enough. We also need a rope.

codex_10.jpg
A rope. Which is a common item I should be able to buy pretty much anywhere...

...But will need to get in a specific place in this dungeon. Yup.

bg2_up107_031.jpg

While this 'swimming through underwater tunnels' gimmick is pretty cool, it does not really fit this type of game and feels out of place. I like it much more in action RPGs like Gothic or even straight-up Tomb Raider / 3D Zelda style action-adventures.

bg2_up107_032.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Fish people? It's been a while since I've fought these.

bg2_up107_033.jpg

codex_10.jpg
They haven't gotten any tougher, I see.

bg2_up107_034.jpg

codex_10.jpg
It's sushi time!

bg2_up107_035.jpg

codex_10.jpg
What they lack in, well, everything, they make up in numbers.

bg2_up107_036.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Water elementals! I never expected to meet those!

See, I told you that you can still be susprised. Do not get used to them, however. I do not think they even appear anywhere else in the game.

bg2_up107_037.jpg

Note the 'weapon ineffective' message in the log. Kuo-Toa (Kuo-Toas?) literally cannot hurt our hero.

bg2_up107_038.jpg

codex_10.jpg
You are relieved of duty, captain.

bg2_up107_039.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Indefinitely.

bg2_up107_040.jpg

Imagine if water could get angry and bite you in the real world. I think the pollution problem would have been resolved pretty fast then.

bg2_up107_041.jpg

codex_10.jpg
It is sad to even think about it, but this might be the last priest I ever kill.

True.
But not the last priestess.

bg2_up107_042.jpg

codex_10.jpg
I can tell you one thing about water elementals: they are boring.

bg2_up107_043.jpg

codex_10.jpg
This thing's tougher.

bg2_up107_044.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Why do I always get suckered into fighting fire shield enemies up close?

bg2_up107_045.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Lol, +2 weapon immunity.

bg2_up107_046.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Good thing I've brought a couple of hundred of these.

bg2_up107_047.jpg

codex_10.jpg
This thing is casting a lot of spells. Or trying to anyway.

bg2_up107_048.jpg

codex_10.jpg
See, that wasn't so hard.

bg2_up107_049.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Are you lost?

bg2_up107_050.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Apparently fish people do take prisoners. Who would've thought.

bg2_up107_051.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Hopefully it's something good, and not just 'you need to use a rope'.

bg2_up107_052.jpg

codex_10.jpg
I hate my life. :negative:

bg2_up107_053.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Wow, this guy just brings revelation after revelation.

bg2_up107_054.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Oh great. Yet another quest item hunt. I can never get enough of these.

bg2_up107_055.jpg

codex_10.jpg
I bet he won't tell me *that*, since this would actually be interesting.

bg2_up107_056.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Called it.

bg2_up107_057.jpg

codex_10.jpg
That saves me the trouble of killing him.

bg2_up107_058.jpg

codex_10.jpg
The fuck?

bg2_up107_059.jpg

codex_10.jpg
WHY DID HE HAVE THIS?

codex_10.jpg
Or, you know what, fuck it. Let's go.

bg2_up107_060.jpg

We also got the rope.

bg2_up107_062.jpg

codex_10.jpg
It's longer tunnels then. I forget which ponds lead there.

bg2_up107_065.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Ok, this is definitely a new place.

bg2_up107_066.jpg

Sensible design (not every pond needs a tunnel) or cut content, how do you think?

codex_10.jpg
Don't care.

I was actually asking the readers.

codex_10.jpg
Don't care.

bg2_up107_067.jpg

codex_10.jpg
'Ruthless might', lol.

Apparently Bioware in 2001 did not possess the arcane knowledge of using quote marks to distinguish between narration and dialogue, like it was done in PST.

codex_10.jpg
Mods will fix it! Oh, wait...

bg2_up107_068.jpg

codex_10.jpg
There is literally nothing else here, except that dragon, so I might as well move on.

bg2_up107_069.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Ouch! The fuck?

That is a warm welcome.

bg2_up107_070.jpg

codex_10.jpg
And there's more of them...

bg2_up107_071.jpg

codex_10.jpg
They-ouch-die-ouch-easily, but-ouch-they are also-ouch-ripping my-ouch-flesh away.

bg2_up107_072.jpg

Well, that was bad.

Death Count: 393

Loading.

codex_10.jpg
That must be one of the most unpleasant enemies I have ever encountered.

bg2_up107_073.jpg

codex_10.jpg
To the point when I am considering skipping them entirely.

bg2_up107_074.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Well, I definitely am not fighting all of these at once.

bg2_up107_075.jpg

codex_10.jpg
But hunting down these separated ones is a viable option.

bg2_up107_076.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Summoned fodder.

bg2_up107_077.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Let's see if I can reliably kill them with bow and arrows.

bg2_up107_078.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Looks like it.

bg2_up107_079.jpg

codex_10.jpg
War dogs. What is even the point?

bg2_up107_080.jpg

codex_10.jpg
What is with this non-hostile eye casting spells on me all the time?

I have no idea. It does not seem to do us any harm, so just ignore it.

bg2_up107_081.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Since I constantly hit them in the eyes, every strike should count as a critical hit.

bg2_up107_082.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Fuck, this hasn't gone very smoothly.

At least you are not dead.

bg2_up107_083.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Before I level up, let me check...

bg2_up107_084.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Okay, leaving now.

bg2_up107_085.jpg

I wonder if we will max out regular whirlwinds too.

bg2_up107_086.jpg

codex_15.jpg
Level ups ain't what they used to be. They lose their appeal past a certain point.

Not according to JRPG and MMO designers.

bg2_up107_087.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Okay, those eagle eyes are NOT my favourite enemies in the world.

bg2_up107_088.jpg

codex_10.jpg
And apparently these eye things can be backstabbed. I don't even.

bg2_up107_089.jpg

codex_10.jpg
You can call me 'the silent death'.

bg2_up107_090.jpg

More like invisible death, I think?

bg2_up107_091.jpg

codex_10.jpg
As long as 'death' is in my nickname, the rest is not as important.

To be continued.

Next time: The Codex will become a quest giver, and attempt some dragon diplomacy.

That will definitely happen no sooner than near the end of the month, maybe even early June.

I remember that one, short and intense.
Well fitting break up from the adventures of Codex minus dying.

Update #108: A Farewell to Dragons, part III - Dragon's Lair

bg2_up108_002.jpg

codex_10.jpg
The fuck is this?

bg2_up108_003.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Let's see, does this open...?

bg2_up108_004.jpg

codex_10.jpg
WHOA.

bg2_up108_005.jpg

I like the clash between his actual name and how he introduces himself. Quite clever writing.

bg2_up108_006.jpg

But his, 'lol so mad and random' personality is pretty annoying. I guess they must have used up the writing budget for that name joke at the start.

bg2_up108_007.jpg

codex_10.jpg
I should have expected that. And I did.

bg2_up108_008.jpg

codex_10.jpg
You were lucky. It could, and should, have killed you.

bg2_up108_009.jpg

codex_10.jpg
How do you confuse kobolds with elder orbs?

That is the joke.

codex_10.jpg
Oh. Funny. Except it's not.

bg2_up108_010.jpg

codex_10.jpg
That actually sounds like it could be mildly amusing.

bg2_up108_012.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Coincidentally - yeah right - I have found a stone-to-flesh scroll quite recently. Only one, though.

Fortunately it turns out to be the one AoE Stone To Flesh scroll in existence and works on all three statues at once. That is just fucking lazy, Bioware.

bg2_up108_013.jpg

The Codex rescuing innocents from Bioware oppression. Exactly as if a Dragon Age game has been released recently.

bg2_up108_014.jpg

codex_10.jpg
So, are you Bondari Quickhand or Bondari Halfman?

I wonder if anyone even proofread this part.

bg2_up108_015.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Technically, it's all true.

bg2_up108_016.jpg

codex_10.jpg
You already got a free stone to flesh scroll, you fucking ingrates.

bg2_up108_017.jpg

codex_10.jpg
I have a feeling this is going to end in a disaster.

bg2_up108_018.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Several DAYS? How long can you take to kill a bunch of kobolds?

bg2_up108_019.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Seriously.

bg2_up108_020.jpg

Explanation: a cutscene in which The Codex turns into Slayer and kills the rookie adventurers.

bg2_up108_021.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Oh shit, they have the load game superpower too! That makes them the biggest threat in the world, I should kill them right now!

Do not bother. They would only reload again.

codex_10.jpg
...

codex_10.jpg
FUCK!

bg2_up108_022.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Well, at least that's done.

bg2_up108_023.jpg

codex_10.jpg
What...? Oh, wait, someone mentioned these.

We shall find a use for them soon.

bg2_up108_024.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Hopefully it is still in good enough condition for the madman.

bg2_up108_025.jpg

codex_10.jpg
How am I fatigued if I have just been resting for days?

Waiting for days, in killer eye infested corridors.

codex_10.jpg
That doesn't even make any sense. I would've found a more suitable place to pass the time.

Dude, I am not a GM you could argue your way with, just accept that you are fatigues and move on.

bg2_up108_026.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Let's see if the rookies maybe missed something.

bg2_up108_027.jpg

Seems so.

codex_10.jpg
What. The. Fuck.

bg2_up108_028.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Chaaaaarrrrrrge!

bg2_up108_029.jpg

codex_10.jpg
And they have spell triggers too! Talk about unfair!

But unfair is how we like it.

Or at least pretend to.

bg2_up108_030.jpg

codex_10.jpg
DAMN RIGHT THAT'S HOW WE LIKE IT!

bg2_up108_031.jpg

codex_10.jpg
YES...! FUCK! Imprisonment! NO!

bg2_up108_032.jpg

Maybe Carsomyr would have been a better weapon of choice here, but is Imprisonment even affected by magic resistance?

Death Count: 394

Loading.

codex_10.jpg
I should try using Carsomyr.

...Okay.

bg2_up108_033.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Armed and ready!

bg2_up108_034.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Now they won't be able to fucking touch me.

Three out of four times, at least.

bg2_up108_035.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Taste the darkness!

bg2_up108_036.jpg

I am not sure if the dark taint even worked.

bg2_up108_037.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Ok, fuck magic resistance, let's just vorpal death them all.

bg2_up108_038.jpg

codex_10.jpg
GO STRAIGHT TO EYEBALL HELL YOU FUCKER!

bg2_up108_039.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Fucking A.

bg2_up108_040.jpg

We are still failing stealth checks in full plate, by the way. I am not sure if you can boost thieving skills high enough for it to always work.

bg2_up108_041.jpg

codex_15.jpg
I AM THE WHIRLWIND!

bg2_up108_042.jpg

I hope we will get another opportunity for set snare spam. The attempt against Sendai was pretty lacklustre.

bg2_up108_043.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Oh, great, the eyes are respawning too.

bg2_up108_044.jpg

codex_10.jpg
How the fuck am I supposed to deal with something like this?

bg2_up108_045.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Ok, I know.

bg2_up108_046.jpg

codex_10.jpg
:smug:

bg2_up108_047.jpg

codex_10.jpg
This one should lead to the madlab.

bg2_up108_048.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Bingo.

bg2_up108_049.jpg

codex_10.jpg
What's that?

bg2_up108_050.jpg

codex_10.jpg
That probably sounds better than it is, but I'll take it.

bg2_up108_051.jpg

codex_10.jpg
You don't have to get all salty on me. Just asking.

bg2_up108_052.jpg

Iycanth don't take no shit from nobody.

bg2_up108_053.jpg

codex_10.jpg
I should have gone straight to business in the first place.

bg2_up108_054.jpg

codex_10.jpg
By 'may' they mean 'will'.

bg2_up108_056.jpg

codex_10.jpg
I've got a feeling this will end in violence one way or another.

bg2_up108_057.jpg

codex_10.jpg
The use of the word 'bondage' suddenly makes me realize why Abazigal wants to have a female dragon under such a geas, security boons aside.

bg2_up108_058.jpg

codex_10.jpg
A wardstone? That's it? I could have just taken it from the dragon's corpse. All that crap in between was an unnecessary waste of time!

Which is how we like it!

Not really.

bg2_up108_059.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Why is that foolish?

bg2_up108_060.jpg

codex_10.jpg
How does this place differ from any other, when it comes to killing dragons?

bg2_up108_061.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Never mind.

bg2_up108_062.jpg

codex_10.jpg
And I have ended picking up the wardstone up from the dragon's corpse. I guess the joke's on me.

bg2_up108_063.jpg

The other item was a plain ring of invisibility.

bg2_up108_064.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Alright. Party time!

bg2_up108_065.jpg

codex_10.jpg
A welcome wyvern? Original. I shall shoot it down.

bg2_up108_066.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Or... not?

Abazigal's bodyguard wyverns can go invisible at will, which makes them extremely annoying.

BTW, Quenash is reused name, but I will not blame you if you do not remember her.

up28_Baldr040.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Rance is a reused name too.

Wx00xcA.jpg

bg2_up108_067.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Ooh, someone is unsecure about his heritage. :troll:

bg2_up108_068.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Honestly though, this looks like a pretty shitty situation to be in.

bg2_up108_069.jpg

codex_10.jpg
GAAAAAAH! Claws and teeth everywhere! EVERYWHERE!

bg2_up108_070.jpg

Will we ever learn not to approach dragons without protection from fear?

bg2_up108_071.jpg

Death Count: 395

Load.

codex_10.jpg
How do we get out of this one?

I am not sure yet.

bg2_up108_072.jpg

Let us try the usual first. Stoneskin, to not get squashed.

bg2_up108_073.jpg

Spell trap, to not get mazed.

bg2_up108_074.jpg

Resist fear...

codex_10.jpg
...Because dragons are fucking cheaters and Jet Li is awesome.

bg2_up108_075.jpg

And then we run to other side of the room, to hopefully be able to engage enemies on our terms.

bg2_up108_076.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Yeah, it doesn't work.

bg2_up108_077.jpg

We are yet to establish a foothold in this place.

Death Count: 396

Load game.

codex_10.jpg
This is going to be a long update.

You are dying before you can actually do something. We need more time.

bg2_up108_080.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Like this?

bg2_up108_081.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Whatcha gonna do, when The Codex comes for you!

bg2_up108_082.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Let's soften the scalies up.

bg2_up108_083.jpg

codex_10.jpg
What's better than horrid wilting? Two horrid wiltings!

bg2_up108_084.jpg

codex_10.jpg
This is kind of ironic, isn't it?

bg2_up108_085.jpg

bg2_up108_086.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Ok, I'm ready. Let the time flow again!

bg2_up108_087.jpg

codex_10.jpg
What, none of them actually died?

bg2_up108_088.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Let's rectify that!

bg2_up108_089.jpg

Our Stoneskin did not last long.

codex_10.jpg
I think I'm dead now.

bg2_up108_090.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Let's go for an all-in!

bg2_up108_091.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Holy crap, 74 damage?

bg2_up108_092.jpg

To be honest, I do not think the double damage has done much difference here.

Death Count: 397

Reloading.

codex_10.jpg
I don't think I can fight them all at once, we need to reduce their numbers somehow.

Well... the most obvious choice is to stand in the corner, when they can only approach you one or two at a time.

codex_10.jpg
Let's try that.

bg2_up108_093.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Those wyverns have annoying elemental attacks which bypass my stone skin.

bg2_up108_094.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Ergo, they need to go.

bg2_up108_095.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Alright, that's one!

bg2_up108_096.jpg

codex_10.jpg
And two!

bg2_up108_097.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Fuck you and your breath weapon!

bg2_up108_098.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Oh yeah!

The good news is, we killed three wyverns. The bad news is you are next to Abazigal, who can deal 74 damage per hit, and you only have 64 HP left.

bg2_up108_099.jpg

codex_10.jpg
I've got that covered.

bg2_up108_100.jpg

Something clearly did not work.

Death Count: 398

Loady-load.

codex_10.jpg
HOW THE FUCK- Actually, doesn't matter. Let's just kill them.

bg2_up108_101.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Since time stop seems to be only spell that actually works here, I will abuse it to hell and back.

bg2_up108_102.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Seems like I got his attention.

Fun fact: when Abazigal receives enough damage in his human form, he automatically transforms into a dragon, causing an explosion with knockback around him.

Fun observation (not 100% sure, but it definitely seems so): this transformation also cancels our Time Stop - Abzigal is just that powerful.

bg2_up108_103.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Now I've got you right where I want you!

bg2_up108_104.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Hopefully it works better this time.

bg2_up108_105.jpg

Well, shit.

Death Count: 399

Quit.

Next time: We will fight powerful monsters such as frost salamanders, wyverns, dragons, demi-gods and the worst kind of them all - script bugs.

That will happen sometime next month. :troll:

Holy balls, how long is ToB really? I think I only finished it once when it was released, got bored every other time and don't remember much.

Too bad this does not work on Abazigal.

We have managed to rage quit before breaking the 400 deaths mark - but will it happen in this update?

It will.

Update #109: A Farewell to Dragons, part IV - Dragonslayer

bg2_up109_000.jpg

Remember how we tried to move to another part of this area to better control the fight, and later we tried to stay in the corner to not get surrounded - now we have decided to combine both approaches.

codex_10.jpg
Yeah, because they've shown a lot of promise.

bg2_up109_001.jpg

codex_10.jpg
I guess I won't be able to find a better spot than this.

bg2_up109_002.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Ready...

bg2_up109_003.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Nice!

bg2_up109_004.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Fuck!

bg2_up109_005.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Ok, this is going badly.

bg2_up109_006.jpg

codex_10.jpg
That's another, but I don't think I'm getting out of this.

bg2_up109_007.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Or maybe I am?

bg2_up109_008.jpg

Or maybe you are not.

Death Count: FOUR HUNDRED

Load.

codex_10.jpg
I'd like to try my Time Stop spam again.

Suit yourself.

bg2_up109_009.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Ok, Stage 1: let's all sing together...

bg2_up109_010.jpg

codex_10.jpg
This should come handy when Abazigal dragonsplodes.

bg2_up109_011.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Stay still, bro.

bg2_up109_012.jpg

codex_10.jpg
That's stone skin gone, if you had it.

bg2_up109_013.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Stage 2: force him to morph into his Final Form (TM).

bg2_up109_014.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Okay!

bg2_up109_015.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Stage 3...

bg2_up109_016.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Let's beat the crap out of him.

bg2_up109_017.jpg

I do not even want to know what is Abazigal's Shockwave and why it activates during Time Stop, even though no Spell Trigger released it.

bg2_up109_018.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Die already!

bg2_up109_019.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Fuuuuuck! Why won't you die!?

bg2_up109_020.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Get the fuck away from me!

bg2_up109_021.jpg

I believe we could call this an improvement of sorts.

Death Count: 401

Loading.

codex_10.jpg
Fuck! I feel like I was THIS close to succeeding.

Yeah, let us try again.

bg2_up109_022.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Everyone calm down, this is a robbery dragonslaying!

bg2_up109_023.jpg

codex_10.jpg
One gentle smack on the head with the anti-magic stick.

bg2_up109_024.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Time for some rib-crushing!

By the way, we have switched to Staff of the Ram because if its higher damage output (vorpal hit does not work on Abazigal anyway).

codex_10.jpg
Which is :decline: by the way.

bg2_up109_025.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Ok, he got serious.

bg2_up109_026.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Time for another quiet moment.

bg2_up109_027.jpg

codex_10.jpg
You won't need those protective spells right now.

bg2_up109_028.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Ready to experience the AWESOMENESS OF THE CODEX!?

bg2_up109_030.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Die! Die! Die! Die! Die!

bg2_up109_031.jpg

This was the moment when I realised there was some kind of problem. We had dealt a crapton of damage to Abazigal when he was in 'near death' state, but there had been no effect.

Turns out, Abazigal should trigger a 'dying speech' when he is close enough to death (but not too close). Slashing at him during Time Stop causes the script to not trigger (we 'overshoot' it because of too much damage dealt too fast) and makes him hang at 'near death' state forever. Or rather until we run out of Time Stops, after which he quickly restores himself to full health.

That last part is just cheap, by the way.

bg2_up109_032.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Fuck! I don't need time stop to kill you, you overgrown iguana!

bg2_up109_033.jpg

He must have taken offense at that insult.

Death Count: 402

L.O.A.D.

codex_10.jpg
I'm out of ideas.

Let us try the same thing once again. Ok, almost the same.

bg2_up109_034.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Yada, yada, time stop.

bg2_up109_035.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Yada, yada, improved alacrity.

This helps with casting another Time Stop after the first one is broken.

bg2_up109_036.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Uh, lower resistance? Why?

Trust me on this one.

bg2_up109_037.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Okay...

This one is cast twice, by the way.

bg2_up109_039.jpg

codex_10.jpg
I want to remind you, this did not work all that well previously.

bg2_up109_040.jpg

So, cast it again.

bg2_up109_041.jpg

And again.

bg2_up109_042.jpg

codex_10.jpg
I'm pretty sure he is immune to fire.

Well, just in case he is not.

bg2_up109_043.jpg

Now, kill him!

codex_10.jpg
Wha-?

bg2_up109_044.jpg

codex_10.jpg
RRRRRAAAAAAAAAAARRGRRGGHGH!

bg2_up109_045.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Die! DIE! PLEASE, DIE!

bg2_up109_046.jpg

codex_10.jpg
YES!

YES!

bg2_up109_047.jpg

codex_10.jpg
What? WHAT HAPPENED!? Did the game crash!? Tell me it didn't crash!

bg2_up109_048.jpg

Calm down, this is just a cutscene.

bg2_up109_050.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Ooh, this is actually interesting.

bg2_up109_052.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Heh, heh, heh. Go Baltie!

bg2_up109_053.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Oh yeah, take her!

bg2_up109_054.jpg

codex_10.jpg
What? Hey! Not fair! I wanted to see that!

bg2_up109_055.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Oh fuck, what the hell is going on!?

We are still in combat, do not forget.

bg2_up109_056.jpg

codex_10.jpg
I think it's time for a tactical retreat.

I concur.

bg2_up109_057.jpg

What.

WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT!?

:rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage:

Death Count: 403

Yeah, load.

codex_10.jpg
Tell me that is some kind of a bad joke.

It is. But that does not make it any less real.

bg2_up109_058.jpg

codex_10.jpg
FINE! I have done this once, I can do this again.

bg2_up109_059.jpg

Here is the abridged version: Abazigal turns into a dragon.

bg2_up109_060.jpg

The Codex casts a fuckload of spells.

bg2_up109_061.jpg

codex_10.jpg
And I kill the fucker!

bg2_up109_062.jpg

This time after the Melissan cutscene we are immediately transported to our pocket plane. No idea why this did not happen previously.

bg2_up109_063.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Oh, fuck, she's going to nag at me again.

bg2_up109_064.jpg

codex_10.jpg
When exactly did I agree to marry her?

You did not have to, it was an arranged union.

bg2_up109_065.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Actually, that is false. Five runner-ups to the title of most powerful child of Bhaal gathered. :smug:

bg2_up109_066.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Yeah, like I care.

bg2_up109_067.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Seriously? You summoned Dumbo? Why not the drow chick, I liked her better.

Obligatory Sendai softporn image:

hqdefault.jpg

bg2_up109_068.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Didn't take much to convince him.

bg2_up109_069.jpg

codex_10.jpg
They were one step ahead of Sarevok. I wish he was here to see this. Almost regret killing him. Almost.

bg2_up109_070.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Why would Bhaal need five right hands? Does he have five dicks and wants to masturbate efficiently?

bg2_up109_071.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Don't tell me I will have to kill him too.

bg2_up109_072.jpg

codex_10.jpg
I don't think Solar likes her job very much.

tl;dr: Apparently we actually are supposed to stop Bhaal from his second coming, or something. Does anyone really care at this point?

bg2_up109_073.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Yay, a challenge.

We have another challenge to deal with first, and that is escaping Abazigal's lair to SAVE THE GAME.

codex_10.jpg
Fuck yeah, I wouldn't want to talk to Yaga-Shura again.

bg2_up109_074.jpg

Luckily, we manage to escape this time, only losing 90 HP in the process.

codex_10.jpg
'Only.' Losing each and every one of those hurts, you know.

bg2_up109_075.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Alright, I am ready to strike back with great vengeance and furious anger.

bg2_up109_076.jpg

codex_10.jpg
But also with reason and common sense.

bg2_up109_077.jpg

codex_10.jpg
First, Abazigal's bitch.

bg2_up109_078.jpg

codex_10.jpg
I have no idea whether she is immune to vorpal hits too, so...

bg2_up109_079.jpg

codex_10.jpg
...I'll just beat her to death.

bg2_up109_080.jpg

codex_10.jpg
And now the little ones.

bg2_up109_081.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Shit, just got Rill.

codex_10.jpg
:yeah:

bg2_up109_082.jpg

codex_10.jpg
This is the part when my time stop runs out.

bg2_up109_083.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Fighting the rest of these wyverns is going to be a pain.

bg2_up109_084.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Exactly what I meant.

bg2_up109_085.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Not only they go invisible and use breath attacks, but also cast spells, like stoneskin.

Some designer had FUN with that.

:dgaider:

bg2_up109_086.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Anyway.

bg2_up109_087.jpg

codex_10.jpg
STOP doing that.

bg2_up109_088.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Stoneskin, you said?

bg2_up109_089.jpg

codex_10.jpg
FUCK YOU!

bg2_up109_090.jpg

codex_10.jpg
At this rate I might even die here, so let's try and not do that.

bg2_up109_092.jpg

codex_10.jpg
SHIT!

bg2_up109_093.jpg

codex_10.jpg
FUCK OFF!

bg2_up109_094.jpg

codex_10.jpg
C'mere, you bastard!

bg2_up109_095.jpg

codex_10.jpg
:yeah:

bg2_up109_096.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Anyone else invisible around? No?

I believe we have killed them all.

bg2_up109_097.jpg

codex_10.jpg
What do we have here?

bg2_up109_098.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Okay.

bg2_up109_099.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Meh.

bg2_up109_100.jpg

codex_10.jpg
This looks promising.

bg2_up109_101.jpg

Tamah dropped nothing interesting.

bg2_up109_102.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Wow, now I have three of these.

bg2_up109_103.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Let me guess, this is the exit shortcut?

bg2_up109_104.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Oh shit, it's Santa!

bg2_up109_105.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Can I fight him?

Obviously not.

codex_10.jpg
:(

bg2_up109_106.jpg

don__t_panic_and_carry_a_towel_by_ashique47-d3fu8qd.jpg

bg2_up109_107.jpg

codex_10.jpg
And for that I need to find Saemon Havarian, right?

Not if we can avoid it.

bg2_up109_108.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Uh-huh. Thanks for nothing.

bg2_up109_109.jpg

codex_10.jpg
And he disappears as soon as he stops talking. Typical.

Next time: The Codex will find just the right pants for fighting Balthazar.

That will happen sometime this month. Probably.

VOTING TIME!

So, bros, Ascension allows us for 'peaceful' dialogue-based resolution of the conflict with Balthasar, instead of combat. Do you want the Codex to go Fallout on him, or just kill the fucker?

Codex 2014 Make the Codex Great Again! Grab the Codex by the pussy
Balthazar being Lawful Good, and the game originally only allowing for a "quick banter then fight" option, I would normally suggest a more sensible option than violence.

Then again, this is The Codex playing. I vote for a dirt nap.
