They fucked up the cat potion in TW2 and it still sucks in TW3. In the original Witcher the cat potion let you see in the dark but your seeing in bright areas was unhampered. Now as soon as you come out of the cave you have to rest to get rid of the visual effect because it's unbearable.

It is extremely annoying, but you can use White Mead, or whatever it's called to get rid of every elixir effect instantaneously if you don't want to rest every time you exit a cave.

You're right. And also: THAT HEARTBEAT SOUND WAS ANNOYING AS HELL. Cat was also rekt by the fact that it became somewhat a flavour potion. You can still see (poorly, but you can) in the dark in TW2 and 3. TW1 FORCED you to use cat, else you couldn't see shit. Yeah, we all know why they changed that.

I think they've nerfed it all down because they introduced a new alchemy skill tree in TW2. Putting your points there will make alchemy fairly powerful, so the general alchemy effects had to be nerfed. One could argue this makes the char system more RPGish because it gives you an additional way to build a character, I dunno lol.

I like the idea of an alchemist build path, as opposed to TW1 binary "sign or sword". However, when you do the math you will quickly realize that "alchemist Geralt" is simply TW1 Geralt. Alchemy tree is all about reversing the nerfs to alchemy, instead of adding some new cool option.

Did they add additional potion slots yet?

As soon as the shitty consoles get better controls with more buttons, I'm sure they will...

TW2's alchemy was really powerful if you invested heavily into it, as the right mutagens and potions could give you insane damage and/or critical effect chance, but the potion durations were short no matter what and drinking potions was still too much of a hassle most of the time.

The short potion duration in TW3 sucks, but decoctions are fortunately a huge step forward again. The troll decoction, for instance, is essentially Swallow, except that it lasts 30 minutes in real time (notably longer if you invest even a bit into alchemy), which is longer than the Swallow of TW1 which was 2 hours of in-game time. Unlike TW2, toxicity is also an actual factor again and isn't just tied to the potion duration, although the easiness of resting, the replenishing potions and the endless supply of White Honey make it more of a brief "oh shit" thing (like when you grab that extra potion in combat and your health suddenly starts to drop) rather than something you'd need to actively manage. In TW1 you often had to consider whether you'd want to go on with the currently active potions or rest and essentially waste them, like if your Swallow ran out in the middle of a dungeon while all other potions remained active and you couldn't risk drinking another as the toxicity of the previous one still remained.

I think there should be more difference betwen the duration and toxicity of different potions like in TW1, as that encouraged you to experiment with different combinations to find the optimal one for each situation, something that would remain as useful as possible for as long as possible. Now almost all potions have the same duration and toxicity, with only a few exceptions here and there.

Yeah, these are all valid points, but let's not forget that on TW1 you could be a total degenerate and drink a fuckton of long duration potions -> rest 1 hours -> drink more potions -> rest 1 hour -> drink short duration (aka Swallow) and resume your adventure with some 54981654161 positive effects and very little toxicity. Not that I know of anyone who does that, I'm just saying.

Guess that's why TW2 decided to nerf durations and prevent insane potion stacking...

Yeah, I found it weird that they never fixed that exploit.

Well, the next patch arriving 'soon' and 'almost' really doesn't mean within a week. Or two as it seems now. Guess they ran into more trouble than anticipated earlier on. Oh well.

Putting out the patch notes then a 2-point-something gigabyte download but NOT the patch itself was a cruel joke.

Fucking potatoes.

"Ok guys, take it from someone who used to be a modder on these forums before joining CDPRed (so maybe I have earned some "street cred"):

There is no reason for us to artificially delay a PC patch because of consoles. Actually, many patches so far have been released first on PC (1.06 was PC exclusive). We don't only fix general bugs and improve many features with 1.07, but we also fix issues specific to the platforms; of course including the PC. This means that while some platforms might be in the process of certification, the work on the others continues.
Please be patient and have a little trust, it won't be long. This is my last answer regarding this issue, because soon you guys will be busy playing W3 with the new patch anyway - on all platforms.

GOG just put out a tweet saying patch 1.07 and the Ciri DLC is available now.

People are replying to the tweet saying, um, no it isn't. Same for me. No update.

Top trolling CDPR.

They must be releasing in waves since it's already on TPB. Good thing about DRM free is that you can get from multiple sources :M
