Summary description and screens below.

In the Achtung! Cthulhu universe, a band of Allied heroes fight the Secret War against the Nazi Black Sun and their rivals Nachtwolfe. The Nazi factions have turned to the ancient and terrible powers of the Mythos, weaponizing evil to win the war. This move is starting to yield results as, powered with ancient secrets and terrible Mythos allies, Black Sun and Nachtwolfe are on the verge of unleashing terrible weapons upon the Allied forces. It is your job to stop them - by any means necessary.

In the spirit of Allied cooperation, Auroch Digital has teamed with the creators of Achtung! Cthulhu, Modiphius and indie publisher Ripstone to bring this award-winning tabletop RPG to a computer screen near you!

Ripstone have been amazingly supportive and are funding the single player game for release in Q4 2018. However, there’s much more we want to add to the game! We want you to join us in the next phase of the Secret War in raising some extra war bonds to make Achtung! Cthulhu even more amazing. Over the last five years since the original Achtung! Cthulhu RPG smashed its goals on Kickstarter the team at Modiphius have created lots and lots of great characters for the setting. For us to add them all takes a lot more time and resources; for each unit our team need to make a set of boned 3D meshes, new animations and more. We've got the core sorted and locked down but we really need the Pathfinder Demon Hunters to enter the fray! These elite spiritual Native American warriors bring a mixture of ancient knowledge and modern day firepower into the fight that the Allied heroes desperately need.

With your support we’ll be able to get these amazing warriors created digitally and into the game. Your backing may also allow you to get behind the scenes view on the development of the game, to chat with the development team and offer your thoughts, to grab some great original Achtung! Cthulhu merch and much more!

I like that the 3D model in the last pic is "painted" like the actual miniatures. :obviously:

what advantage nazi gain by using tentacle-head instead of Jugend? they're amphibious/submerge without need to have boats?
"weaponizing" :popamole:
Nazi should ask Mythos for advice, how they can benefit the most from the partnership, rather then impose solutions.

This is rather brave, considering how the previous "cthulhu tictacs" game on KS flopped hard.

Fight the Nazis AND the spawn of Cthulhu in this exciting action/strategy/RPG game set in the award winning Achtung! Cthulhu universe.

Together we’re creating a turn-based strategy game that draws from the Achtung! Cthulhu roleplaying game universe. In it, the player will control a tough band of heroes trapped behind enemy lines trying to uncover and foil a Nazi plot of terrifying evil. This core game is going to be an amazing turn-based strategy RPG game with the right mix of tactics, story and action.

There are a host of unique features. As well as the setting of Achtung! Cthulhu, we’re taking the themes of light and darkness representing the pulp battle of 'good and evil' and translating it into fabric of the strategic gameplay. Allied characters are the goodies and they work best in the light. The Nazis and most Mythos creatures are things of evil and darkness. They want to drag us into their night. By using the light and the darkness, a skilled player can enhance the power of a burst of machine gun fire or the stab of a bayonet to provide an edge to good old allied steel!Equally make sure that your party does not become separated and that the enemy does not pull one of your team into the dark, where their evil weapons, talons, and tentacles are all the more potent! We’ve been playtesting this system, which we call ‘light and dark’, which adds extra tactical dimensions!

450d0b698084dce35d2fc64937b65aea_original.png

As well as this we’ve created a unique and powerful system where the momentum of your actions opens new lines of tactical attack. Inspired by Modiphius’ proven 2d20 roleplaying system (Conan, Star Trek Adventures, Infinity, John Carter of Mars) we have created something fun and adapted it for video games. When an attack succeeds, thanks to sterling leadership, the player builds a pool of momentum, which can then be weaponised! All characters have special momentum actions they can perform - a rake of machine gun fire, a fast snap-shot with a pistol, a mysterious ethereal effect. The system allows you to control this, layering it with the normal actions of your team to build ingenious combinations of tactical brilliance rivalling Monty, Zhukov, Rommel, or Patton.

Huh, might amount to something.

Lovecraft-meets-Nazis RPG Achtung! Cthulhu is being turned into a PC strategy game

Achtung! Cthulhu, the roleplaying game mash-up of World War II and Lovecraftian cosmic horror, is getting a PC game spin-off.

Achtung! Cthulhu Tactics is a turn-based strategy game set in the universe where the Nazis have allied with creations from Lovecraft’s Mythos, which has been turned into a board game, miniatures wargame, graphic novel and more since it debuted as an RPG five years ago.

Following a group of heroes stuck behind enemy lines as they try to stop a Nazi plot, Tactics is described as a mix of strategy and roleplaying, with a planned ‘light and dark’ system that lets enemies thrive in the darkness while the Allies work best in the light.

The gameplay will also take inspiration from Achtung! Cthulhu publisher Modiphius’ 2d20 roleplaying system, which allows players to build up momentum from successful actions to pull off more impressive feats later on. In the PC game, characters will have momentum abilities, such as taking a snap shot with a pistol or sweeping across a room with machine gun fire, that be combined for a tactical advantage.

Heading up development is Tomas Rawlings, who previously designed Call of Cthulhu spin-off The Wasted Land.

Achtung! Cthulhu is currently up on Kickstarter, but the single-player portion of the PC game has already been funded by publisher Ripstone. The crowdfunding campaign is said to be raising money to add extra characters, including the Native American Pathfinder Demon Hunters squad.

Actung! Cthulhu Tactics is planned for release towards the end of 2018, and is only confirmed for PC for the time being.

I like Chris Birch and Modiphius, but I don't trust what these vidyagaem guys are saying. Their other tactics game is a mobile game. Anyone tried it?

Funding goal met. Next will be stretch goals I assume.

As of this posting they're sitting at 10,631 GBP out of their 10,000 GBP goal.

I think it's crazy that Lovecraft is in public domain and now that everyone realized this, we're going to have an overstaturation of lovecraftian games and the setting will suffer for it. It'll be like "oh no, not another lovecraftian crap, i hate lovecraft".

Except for Cleve's game of course, I trust him.

The thing is that most of these developers have probably never even read Lovecraft, you can see here they think Cthulhu is just making people with tentacle faces... Its like Bethesdas Fallout, when you realize it is completely irrelevant to the originals you can just ignore its themes and enjoy it as a tactical whatever this game is.

But yea I do agree its still going to be painful seeing all the #CthulhuLovecraft stuff coming out.

Goddamit I hate this whole "Cthulhu" internet fad but at least it's a damn good example of how copyright laws were supposed to work (at least until people starting extending that shit to 100+ years): the creator benefits from the copyright protection, and later on society as a whole can benefit from it as free cultural heritage.

The story in Achtung! Cthulhu Tactics ties in with the current pen & paper campaign
achtung-cthulhu-tactics-screen-002-580x334.jpg

The XCOM-style action of Achtung! Cthulhu connects with and fleshes out the story of the currently-running beer-and-pretzels Achtung! Cthulhu tabletop campaign – if you play one, it’ll provide additional details for the other.

“This campaign is actually connected with the current roleplaying game campaign that’s going on at the moment,” Auroch Digital producer Peter Willington explained at Gamescom this week. “So you’ll find out stuff in this game, and if you’re an Achtung! Cthulhu player, you’ll go ‘ooooh, that’s where that came from!’”

Willington provided an example of that crossover, although be warned – it’s a spoiler for some of the story content in Achtung! Cthulhu Tactics, and given the thematic material, you might understandably want to go in with as little foreknowledge as possible.

“Basically, in this game there is a prototype weapon, and in the RPG, the weapon is already available,” Willington said. “Nobody has any idea where that’s come from. In this game [Tactics], we’re going to explain where that weapon actually came from, how it came about, who was involved in doing it, who tried to sabotage the prototype, all of this kind of stuff.”

The characters involved with this prototype weapon are main characters featured in the pen and paper RPG campaign, Willington explained.
“We wanted you to have this feeling of connection,” he said. “We didn’t want to just be like, ‘it’s some fun side story.’ This genuinely will fill in more about the RPG.”

Achtung! Cthulhu Tactics is, as the name suggests, a turn-based tactics game set in an alternative World War II layered over with Lovecraft’s Cthulhu mythos. Willington says it’s ‘pulp fiction’ like Indiana Jones or Inglourious Basterds.

He showed us how the game’s enemies are aware of their Lovecraftian basis – during a combat encounter, they slink back into the shadows, trying to lure the team of heroes away from each other and into dark places where the monsters gain mechanical advantages.

“Alone, you’re weak,” Willington said. “But like Inglourious Basterds, like Fury, like all of these comic books and films, it’s about the team – no person left behind.”

Achtung! Cthulhu now has a Steam page, so you can add it to your wishlist if your interest has been piqued. It’s due out sometime this year.

Tried the alpha, it's not terribad.
Enemy shows some sense, like trying to hit you on your blindside, and using the darkness to their advantage.

Introducing ‘The Shroud’

53df8070f89b8b15c176b0509a940b597ac2a2de.jpg

First things first... we want to say a huge thank you for your support of the Achtung! Cthulhu Tactics announcement. The feedback we’ve received has been amazing and we can’t wait to bring you updates on how the game is progressing!

Speaking of features, we’d like to officially introduce you to one of the defining mechanics in Achtung! Cthulhu Tactics; The Shroud.

Working with the themes of good vs evil and light vs dark, we have designed gameplay that reflects these ideas. The Shroud sits at the core of this ideology and adds a strategic layer of complexity to each turn.

0eb70f93c4b718ee59a8ccbb85cbe51b41a3d79c.jpg

Created from the arcane activities of the enemy, within the shadows of The Shroud the enemy thrives: being obfuscated and gaining advantages from being hit when inside of it. However, the allied boffins, reverse-engineering some strange archaeological finds, have been able to equip all of their covert teams with amulets that bring a countering-aura to The Shroud.

Skilled command of such equipped troops means they are able to disperse The Shroud and so expose the enemy and destroy them, giving your forces advantages in a firefight. Combined, this system becomes a layer of strategic gameplay beyond the classic “get to cover and shoot” of other games in the genre.

Introducing The Allies: Captain Eric 'Badger' Harris

Hey everyone,

As we get closer to the release of Achtung! Cthulhu Tactics we thought we’d introduce you to the team of allied heroes you’ll be playing as throughout the duration of the game.

Each hero character features their own backstory, weapon specialisations and combat abilities to give players an edge in the battlefield. These can be levelled up in numerous ways including skill points and weapon upgrades found during missions.

Enough talk, time to introduce the first of the Allies, Captain Eric ‘Badger’ Harris…

Captain Harris and his men are the burly right arm of the secret department within British Intelligence known as Section M. Affectionately nicknamed “Badger’s Commandos”, this elite unit is given all manner of odd prototype devices with which to combat the Nazis and the menace of the mythos. Badger Harris himself is an exemplary leader of men, always in the vanguard, and cool and collected in the face of multiple mythos horrors.

His daunting physicality, supreme tactical awareness and instinctive grasp of experimental weapons and their application, make him a formidable commando and guerrilla warfare expert, used to operating deep behind enemy lines.

Introducing - The Allies: Ariane Dubois

Hey everyone,

As we get closer to the release of Achtung! Cthulhu Tactics we’re going to continue sharing more and more information about the playable heroes in the game.

Each hero character features their own backstory, weapon specialisations and combat abilities to give players an edge in the battlefield. These can be levelled up in numerous ways including skill points and weapon upgrades found during missions.

The second in our group of Allies is the formidable Ariane Dubois...

A stalwart member of the French Resistance, Ariane has been the bane of Wehrmacht officers across occupied France. Initially motivated by revenge for the death of her parents at the hands of the Black Sun, she was often in the forefront of resistance attacks, sprinting forward with her trusty Luger in one hand whilst the terrifying creature that bonded with her during Operation Pandemonium prepared to devour the spirit of another Nazi.

She tried not to dwell on what will happen when there are no more Nazis left to kill. However, what began as simple blind revenge has changed Ariane over the course of the war. At first, she struck with pure hatred, but eventually came to realise revenge is a dish best served du froid, and has risen to become a cunning and implacable leader of the French resistance, co-ordinating and planning savage attacks against the hated occupiers.

As Ariane has evolved, so too has her spirit creature. From the small, winged fell demon that once perched on her shoulder, it can now grow and transform into an unstoppable, brutal battlefield behemoth once released.

Introducing The Allies: Corporal Singh

662544c1ea565bd618686d5642df5f90935e2b3b.png

Hey everyone,

As your time on the battlefield draws closer, we invite you to learn about the mysterious Corporal Akhee “The Eye” Singh. Feared as much as he is admired, Singh bolsters Charlie Company with an array of mythical powers of his own...

ceae9f8d677e33ffb619578600aba6be2afe0043.gif

Feared by the Allies almost as much as he is by the Axis powers, Corporal Singh became infamous in his homeland after the Black Mist Incident. Whilst exploring a long-abandoned temple, he discovered the statue of a forgotten god, and was ‘rewarded’ with the distinctive amulet which has given him his nickname.

ea4d1971326aa2c9d84f09516d706c47653e9145.gif

Singh is only just beginning to learn to control its terrifying power which once unleashed, turns him into a whirling cloud of blades, while spreading sinister tendrils of a deadly black mist, as the Eye on the pendant begins to open. Singh dreads what will happen if it ever fully awakens as he believes the world will end. His burden has made him gloomy and withdrawn, however he has served Section M with courage, distinction and bravery across a number of theatres and missions, often as a member of Badger Harris’ commandos.
