Patch Notes
We've been continuously patching AntharioN following release. We're currently at version 1.0.9.3 and here are some of the more notable patch note items:

  • Additional arrows have been added to vendors.
  • Various spelling and grammatical issues have been addressed.
  • Trainers now train up to 50 levels each instead of 25.
  • An issue preventing some displays with 1366x768 resolutions from entering full screen mode was fixed.
  • A bug causing certain spells to display inaccurate to hit % cursor tooltips was resolved.
  • Your chances of getting random loot from monsters was increased, resulting in more gold early in the game.
One Last Thing...
Since we got very little in the way of press mentions, the long term success of AntharioN will depend heavily on word of mouth. If you've tried the game and enjoyed it please help us out by leaving a little review on Steam, we'd greatly appreciate it! And thanks again to all of you for making AntharioN a reality!!!

Good to see them on the ball for patching, and it looks like a proper manual of some sort is coming soon in the comments section to the update.

Point of interest regarding multiple characters collaborating on noncombat skill use: KS comments

Saxon1974 said:
Do skills only need trained on one character? If I only train foraging on one character does the game use the highest characters value or will multiple characters having the skill stack?

Orphic Software said:
Foraging automatically uses your party's highest foraging skill. It's automatic and non-stacking/non-cumulative.

Zombra said:
Is "non-stacking" also true of other skills, such as Lockpicking, Persuasion, Barter?
Or to put it another way, are there any skills that DO stack if multiple characters have them?

Orphic Software said:
Zombra, We should have a patch out tonight with more detailed skill descriptions that addresses this very issue. No skill stacking at all. For foraging, lore, persuasion, barter, pickpocketing and lock picking, you're highest skill is automatically used (automatic as in no need to select the character).

Enjoy the Revolution! Another revolution around the sun that is. Shadorwun: Hong Kong Divinity: Original Sin 2 Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire Pathfinder: Wrath I'm very into cock and ball torture I helped put crap in Monomyth
I've played the game for 2 hours. Story, what story? I haven't payed attention to that. All I have done is kill rats, crabs and seagulls.

Rolled 4 custom characters.

White Magic/Gray Magic that I equip with a bow when his mana is depleted
2 hander with some non combat skills
1 hander with shield
Archer with black magic

A lot of weapon swapping for the mages, but it's just a quick button press. Can't afford shit at the moment other than being trained in one handed weapons and white magic. I'm rolling with starter equipment and stuff found in chests. Found one cave so far and I also ventured north instead of south like the game wanted me to. Got a level from that. Met someone that wants me to kill lots of orcs, funny considering that I am one.

There are annoyances here and there that could and should be fixed related to UI elements and some other stuff that are probably more subjective. Examples are a fucked resolution. Can't play the game in anything other than windowed mode. For the HP/MP shown in the portrait, there was no number. My very subjective view is that not being allowed to move after you attack is bad. I get furious when my heal spells miss. Buying arrows and whatnot can be a pain in the ass.

So far, I like the combat and I like the character advancement system, but I am still very early into the game.

I think their problem with word of mouth partially consists in no "you get 2+ copies of the game" tiers. A friendly advice is cool but a coupled with gift its even better.

Make sure that one of your bobblehead adventurers got decent lore skill. I've encountered lots of hidden trap doors that can only be opened if you trained lore skill. So far i've seen 10 and 20 skillcheck for hidden doors. Also i found some crystals that you can use if you have 25 lore skill, some merchants sell it too. Those crystals give you a permanent bonus to your attribute or skill.

Well fuck, I wish I'd known. I'd ignored that and foraging thinking lore was just for identifying - and so a waste early on when I wasn't finding any magic items - and foraging (since it was placed next to alchemy) a find more ingredients and food thing only. But once I pumped foraging up to 20 on one character I started getting good loot quite a bit.

I guess I've played one too many recent games where dump skills are precisely that. At least it's great to know it's not the case here.

Yeah, I think I need to rework my concepts to make better use of utility skills. Guys like "wolf dude who shoots a bow and does nothing else" aren't going to cut it.

As V_K says, most agree that Book II is the best (and III the worst). The only consideration is that the movement speed in I is so painfully slow that going to that from II's increased (but still slow) speed can be even worse than encountering it cold.

If you enjoy hiking in empty worlds with a movement speed that would make the slowest of slow snails jealous, go ahead and buy this one.

never really found the movement speed that bad , esp. with the quicktravel system on top. But afaik there was a bug in part 1...

Yeah, I have some points invested in foraging and lore. I intend to have every skill but unarmed.

I suspect it is only a matter of time until somebody tries to break the game by having one party member entirely useless in traditional combat, but smugly pumping every bit of the non-combat skills to the utmost to take advantage of the dev's clarification above on such things not stacking while the rest just become focused engines of whatever sort of destruction and defense.

Having foraging is nice too. I found level 18 two-handed sword (37 damage) on level 7 with foraging skill a little above 20. None of my necrophils specialises in two-handed so i sold it and got some good money.

I've had some persuasion checks as well through out the game but i usually failed them. Don't have enough persuasion skill.

Alchemy is pretty useful, and you get some exp. points each time you make a potion. But you also need a lot of skill to learn recipes of powerful potions. So far i can only make two types of weak potions. Does enyone know where i can find an alchemy teacher?

I wish I would have skilled foraging instead of alchemy. I don't want to restart so I guess I'll just skill it from now but you really get painfully little skill points on lvl up.

Just when I though I could use this map for better orientation, it turns out it's no longer accurate :negative:

Also, really digging how with good utility skills (and some luck) you could bypass the whole first dungeon. Hopefully such design will persist.

Speaking of Eschalon Book II, since it's the best of them, anybody want to write a description of it for the Codex curator? 152 characters max. >_>

If you enjoy hiking in empty worlds with a movement speed that would make the slowest of slow snails jealous, go ahead and buy this one. It's definitely the best in a shitty series, so you will only feel half cheated for your money.

You're welcome ;):P

There are some mechanics in E1 that I'm enjoying, but is it just me or does the game seem to derive most of its playtime through making me walk really slowly over vast empty distances and camp extremely frequently to regain mana?

Yeah, the game lenght could be cut in half if you could walk faster. Thats one of the major issues with the game.

I'd like to sincerely congratulate Zamboni guy for releasing a game with a slightly higher peak concurrent player number than Serpent in the Staglands. Looks like going generic does make that slightest bit of difference.

However that ends my interest in following this, afraid I'm not interested in playing a grog game with banal content. I do approve of trolling grogs by making spellcasters useless though.
