Anybody willing to answer some Codex Lore questions?

Basically I lurked (swinging about once a month maybe) since about...2009? I think? And only started posting and stuff this year. I still have some questions regarding certain things on the codex and search has failed me (which is what it seems to do 99% of the time). Since Socrates was all cool and stuff and said that you should start by admitting that you know nothing, anybody willing to enlighten a mind seeking knowledge?

:avatard: : I get its used for "I am watching you" sort of posts but I have no idea who this pizza guy is.

:updatedmytxt:: Freud from Ultima, I guess its used for psycho-analysis puns?

Prosperland: The site redirect in case of extreme stupidity, based on a "interesting" poster?

Kingcomrade: The poster RPG codex deserves but not the one it needs. I know about this sordid tale, it is just funny to mention.

Kwa/Kwan: I get its used to represent the United States of America but where does it come from?
:ziets:: Why is Mr. Ziets depicted as a goth/emo? He looks dorky if anything.

:dgaider:: I take it is based on that fantasy is running around killing things on horses quote?

:popamole:: Did the term originate from RPG Codex?

:avatard: : I get its used for "I am watching you" sort of posts but I have no idea who this pizza guy is.

It's from a picture of a guy in a movie theater with 3D glasses eating pizza with no fucks given. That's it. There's no greater meaning and people use it in a variety of ways, but it mostly seems to connotate the most Kwa of consumer stereotypes.

:updatedmytxt:: Freud from Ultima, I guess its used for psycho-analysis puns?

Nah, you're way off on this one. Basically there are some pretty disturbed posters on the Codex, and one of them had fucking actual text files of writeups on people based on stuff they had admitted on the Codex. Other people thought this was hilarious and turned it into a meme. Like most of these in-jokes, no one using them is actually serious.

Prosperland: The site redirect in case of extreme stupidity, based on a "interesting" poster?

Prosper is a very special individual, but I know less about him than some people, so I'll leave his sordid ways to someone else to describe in detail, but the best description I can give of him is imagine a "developer" like Cleve, if Cleve were 10X more shut-in, smeared feces on his own walls, and had never actually finished anything. He has made some pretty wondrous works of art, though. Just don't ask him about his "AI".

The psychic harm caused (in others) by exposing him to all and sundry was too great, so he was segregated into his own forum for the good of all. Picture a deranged illithid mindraping everyone on accident and you've got a good analogy for why this happened. People are treated to being trapped in this forum as a punishment because it is far more dire a fate than any simple ban could ever be. The same principle (a punishment worse than death) is behind redirecting people to RPGWatch.

Kingcomrade: The poster RPG codex deserves but not the one it needs. I know about this sordid tale, it is just funny to mention.

Believe it or not, Kingcomrade was actually a pretty funny poster once upon a time. I guess like most people he went down-hill after too long exposure to GD.

Kwa/Kwan: I get its used to represent the United States of America but where does it come from?

This one is a little complicated. It's a racial description of the United States, rooted in Kwanzaa. i.e, the implication is that the United States is now some sort of failed third world -stan, with the added emphasis that it is being taken over by congoid rape gangs. Like a lot of later in-jokes, this one owes its popularity to the Codex's "embrace" of Cleveland Blakemore. It's really no more than copypasta of one of Cleve's blog posts.
:ziets:: Why is Mr. Ziets depicted as a goth/emo? He looks dorky if anything.

Because someone thought he looked silly and decided to photoshop the original "you don't say" face emoticon. No greater meaning here.

:dgaider:: I take it is based on that fantasy is running around killing things on horses quote?

I don't remember the specifics, but it's from a Dragon Age: Inquisition preorder bonus. Gaider is a hated Bioware employee, he's gay, they added black unicorns you can ride as a selling point, this joke writes itself.

:popamole:: Did the term originate from RPG Codex?

I'm actually pretty sure this reference predates Codex or might have spread beyond its walls, but it is certainly not one you're likely to find referred to outside the Codex much. If you do, it's probably an escapee from the Codex. Cover shooters have been criticized for being like a circus carnival game of whack-a-mole, but the condensed single word usage of "popamole" is definitely a Codex special, especially when applied to things that aren't strictly shooters.

Hope this helps, faggot.

Oh so like Baby's first Philmarilion. Basically some dude stalked another on 4chan for a few years and wrote a 100 page journal tracking every post and making diary-like entries of them getting married and living together interspersed with weird poetry. Some real creepy Seven style stuff.

Some clarifications on Zeriel's excellent post.

The Avatard was, obviously, watching Avatar while eating his pizza. Since we don't have a  emoji, this is the one usually used instead. It can also work as :disgunbegud: in addition to the stereotype Zeriel mentioned.

Updating your txt is an amalgamation of two things, "updated my journal" from PST, and the txt files that Zeriel mentioned (Wyrmlord was at one time one of our most famous txt keepers). It's usually used jokingly (maybe...) when someone reveals some surprising personal information (say, SMA telling us about her breast enlargement and how this affects her penis).

Prosper's tragic story has been immortalized in Admiral Jimbob's magnum opus, The Madness of Dr Prosper. Unfortunately you'll need to wait until Nov 27 to read it.
(We should really move the Codex Trilogy, the Casefile, and Ultima comics somewhere else. They deserve to be accessible to everyone)
Prosper has, among other works of genius, given us The Face That Never Remembered, the Turd Golem, The Lesbian, and many other creations both wondrous and terrifying.

Kingcomrade was actually a GD mod for a time. His descent into inanity may have had something to do with this. None of the GD mods have escaped unscathed (see Trash and Crispy)

Kwa/Kwan/Kwanzania are Cleve specials.

I'm sure there was a more elaborate reason for Emo Ziets but I've no idea what now.

I'm pretty sure Popamole is a Codex original and originated with BLOBERT, the broest of Codex bros, but I could be wrong. BLOBERT, like some of the other notable Codexers, has a signature style and writes in dyslexic all-caps. Popamole was a variation on whack-a-mole and refers to shooters with sticky cover, where you hide in cover, and wait for the enemies (moles) to come out from behind their cover so you can pop them.

Prosperland: The site redirect in case of extreme stupidity, based on a "interesting" poster?
When you gaze too much into Codex, Codex gaze into you. Prosperland at first is for Prosper, and then crojipjip, who definitely gone off the deep end. Or like Hamlet, act out their insanity. Their expressions are not pretty which is why they are confined there. In contrast, Blobert's expressions are pretty and funny in a blob way, which is why he's still at large.
When you want to act a madman, we got just the place for you. Banning? Banning is for the weak.
Codex: Where we do care.

Kingcomrade: The poster RPG codex deserves but not the one it needs. I know about this sordid tale, it is just funny to mention.
Also the king of all comrade that present us a short and to the point: I dont give a flying fuck, aka kingcomrade option.
:dgaider:: I take it is based on that fantasy is running around killing things on horses quote?
I think this is around a holobala incident around that option of pay more for horse and then horse armor for either Oblivion or some MMO. I dont remember the name. Before Mount Combat game is even made, I think.

Just wait until Nov 27, 2015 when all of the horrors of the codex will be revealed to you......:M

Beyond the reviews (which I really should get back to), this was one of the main reasons I wanted to create an account, I want to see the special magical "veteran" Rpg codex land.....and lose my mind in the process!

I always assumed it meant cheeky and/or coy.

By the way, I first thought the Codex was a popamole decline loving RPG site like the Watch because of VD's Dragon Age: Origins review.:M

Welcome fellow reptilian.
The codex has to be experienced to be understood, that is why reading about it doesn't really help you get why it's such a good place.
When the doors to GD unlock for you I suggest you tread lightly at first, maybe take a day to sort through retardoland and the comics of course.
It'll change your life.

There's actually a video of the pizza guy. I remember seeing him and sitting up in my chair as though I'd recognized an old friend.

Epic. Those glorious sons of bitches.

EDIT: "I leapt from my seat, poker chips scattering before me like peasants before a monolithic, gradually awakening volcano god with a sweet purple hat. Even as my carefully-honed mincing prance took me to the door of that room, I knew I was too late". Adm. Jimbob could write.

:avatard: who this pizza guy is.
Avatar premiere, I am unsure if he is a journo.
:updatedmytxt:: Freud from Ultima, I guess its used for psycho-analysis puns?
All started with Wyrmlord and his cataloguing of people's posts, and reporting them completely wrong, usually is meant as a joke is also a reference to the stalkish behavior of some people, see Roguey.
Prosperland: The site redirect in case of extreme stupidity, based on a "interesting" poster?
Prosper is the original handle of Crojipip, a mentally hill Fallout 3 modder, banned multiple times, he was a relentess spammer and continued to re-register, DarkUnderlord in the end resorted to the asylum solution and gave him his own forum.
Kingcomrade: The poster RPG codex deserves but not the one it needs. I know about this sordid tale, it is just funny to mention.
The posterchild of conceited inanity and spam, made a moderator because of that.
Kwa/Kwan: I get its used to represent the United States of America but where does it come from?
From Cleve, but in reality originates from some White Power site, the same as ITZ.
:ziets:: Why is Mr. Ziets depicted as a goth/emo? He looks dorky if anything.
They made one for Colin McComb and someone thought that we needed one for Ziets too.
:popamole:: Did the term originate from RPG Codex?
From BLOBERT, I donìt know if he took it from somewgere else or invented it.

:avatard: : I get its used for "I am watching you" sort of posts but I have no idea who this pizza guy is.
It's used either as "disgonbgud" equivalent when something spectacular (usually in a trainwreck sense) is about to happen or derisively to describe individuals easily awed to the point of saying "wow" and "ooh...", usually by shit below poster's contempt.

:updatedmytxt:: Freud from Ultima, I guess its used for psycho-analysis puns?
Updated my LudoLense.txt
:smug:

Prosperland: The site redirect in case of extreme stupidity, based on a "interesting" poster?
More of an asylum for for those who find this universe's physical reality hard to cope with (an entity called Prosper, so far).
Sometimes we throw particularly annoying trolls and idiots there for amusement and watch their minds dissolve under relentless onslaught of hopw roewur ne
:prosper:
Kwa/Kwan: I get its used to represent the United States of America but where does it come from?
Cleve. Our neanderthal cheeseeater by descent (at least he claims so) and doom prophet by vocation.

:dgaider:: I take it is based on that fantasy is running around killing things on horses quote?
Nah, it's based on one of DA:I monster designs with it's head impaled by dildo symbolizing the direction of biowarean plots (it was sword in the original BW's concept, but I think we can all agree that a dildo is far more biowarean in spirit), ridden by Gaider who's BW's most prominent writer that specializes in taking that direction. alternatively he might be carried away by the mad pornse, no longer in control of the direction of his travel. The latter is a more sympathetic, tragic interpretation, you see.

:popamole:: Did the term originate from RPG Codex?
It seems so.

He also gave a video tour of his apartment to a select few. The nightmares haunt me to this day.

Well since everyone is feeling so sharing and caring etc.

The whole raptor avatar thing and general raptor references.

ITZ: is it a reference to the Stephen King novel film?

:mhd:: I can take a "wild guess" at the meaning but I am curios about the origin.

:australia:: the text tells the story...but why Crocodile Dundee?

I knew about Mr. Gaider. But I am curios now, was he always so socially focused? He is with Bioware for some time.

And finally...what is an rpg?
