Didn't we talk about synergies a long damn time ago? It looks kinda weird to see it actually implemented.

I kinda like Age of Decadence better than Decadence. One word titles either work or don't, and Decadence don't. It sounds like some pretentious lip-synching goth band manufactured out of whole cloth by some obese 50-something record company executive. Though I agree age is a little overused.

Era, epoch, aeon, eon, generation, day, year, decade, century and basically any synonym for age are alternatives.

The reputation system seems neat.

How much options do you have in combat? Since it seems it takes AP to attack, I assume it's similar to the Fallout system.

Well, it's obviously influenced by Fallout a lot. There are no targeted attacks (i.e. you can't shoot someone in the eyes), but there are more tactical options. You can perform different attacks (Power Attack - vs armor, Fast Shot - low AP, low accuracy, Whirlwind - crowd control, etc), and each weapon has its own traits (Hammer - knockdown, Spear - interrupt, etc)

The sheer amount of skills is staggering, but it looks great, i also like the descriptions in the box on the lower left hand side of the character sheet pic, does that appear automatically whenever you enter a new area or does it depend upon one of the skills?

Also is the "Word of Honour" rating affected by failure to complete quests or is it dependant on something else entirely?

Edit: Also is your faction reputation affected by your general reputation at all, I.E: If you have a low rating with a faction, but the people in general love you, is there a chance that a high enough general reputation will lessen the negativity generated by bad relations with that particular faction in the past?

Before I read anything else in this topic, heres my 2 cents :

1 - Change the cursor in the final release, I'd pick a normal windows mouse cursor any day to this thing in the shots. Or at least add it as an option.

2 - Change the art of the medikit it looks like a battery rather than what it is supposed to be.

I'd change the red cross on the medikit to a Staff of Aesclapius (is that the right name?) It's still recognized as a symbol of medicine today, and makes sense with the period.

Everything else looks great.

As for the title, agree on the "Age" thing. Maybe "Empire in Decline" or something like that? I dunno

When you enter a new place, the "You have entered..." appears automatically. The "You see..." stuff appears when you click on something. If you want to see more detailed descriptions, you'd have to click on the eye icon, then on whatever you wish to learn more about.

The value of your word, your ability to keep a promise. Affected only by whether or not you'd do what you said you will do.

Edit: Also is your faction reputation affected by your general reputation at all, I.E: If you have a low rating with a faction, but the people in general love you, is there a chance that high enough general reputation will lessen the negativity generated by bad relations in the past?
No, doesn't work that way. Your rep affects your dealing with factions and groups. A faction doesn't care whether or not you are loved/hated by people. A faction only cares about your value to that faction and your relationships with other factions. Let's say that you've impressed Noble House A and scored 10 points with them which would affect certain things. Then you've got greedy and done some favors for House B, scoring 5 points. Now, House A hates House B, so for every 5 points you score with them, you get a penalty - 2 points. So, your newly adjusted rep is not 10 and 5, but 8 and 2.

I hate telling players that they can't join more than 1 faction, so I let the factions and their complicated politics take care of that. Not every faction hates another, some are ok with certain factions, some are even allied with certain factions, so scoring 10 points with one would give you bonus points with another.

The cursor will be replaced, it's a temp.

The medkit art is final. First, it looks ok - it's a box with medical stuff inside. Second, we have limited resources and reworking existing stuff will delay the game.

Looks great to me. The game seems to have great mechanics and well thought through. Beats the crap out of anything the big companies have released for a long, long time. Like others have said, I'd also move some more of the skills under General to the combat group.

THIS is how a CRPG should work. Looking forward to it VD!

Hmm, as far as alternative names, Sunset of an Empire sounds kinda cool to me.
That sounds ok, but it wouldn't reflect properly the setting and the game. Decadence was a more generic name and things could work out either way from there. The Sunset (fall, decline, etc) is too specific and restricting, as PC would be able to influence events a lot and even start the "rise of the empire" process.

Anyway, since everyone hates the Age of thing, let's talk about names. Here is the story overview:

You acquire a map, the map leads to a forgotten temple (as all maps should). The temple used to belong to some deity who played some role in the war that caused the decline. What role, whose side the deity was on, was there any deity in the first place is unclear. It was a few hundred years ago, and all that's left are legends and ruined cities. The legends say that there was a war, and it was so horrible that both sides called for some supernatural forces that fought alongside men. Then again, legends always say that. What happened next is the part that nobody is sure of.

Today three major Houses run what's left of the Empire. All of them would be interested in that temple for various reasons. The gameplay revolves around learning about the map, figuring out the location of the temple, learning about the temple, the war, and related events, making alliances that would help you find and reach the temple, and finally dealing with the temple.

So, what do you think such a game should be called? Temple of the Last God? Some geographical name (Daggerfall, Avernum, etc)? Something to do with the temple? Ideas are welcome.

Well, if the central theme is the decay of a once great empire, that ought to be in the title. I wouldn't call it Temple of the Last God because some people have bad memories of games that start with Temple.

How about working a Gratuitous into the title?

Examples: Pax Gratuitous

Just hunt around for synonymous and play mix and match until you get what you want. Where do you think they got Half Life 2 from?

Decadence will have people think it is a porn game.

Another word for aftermath: Causatum

Latin:

Ruina-Ex (out of the ruins). Straight-forward and is latin for "Fallout" :D .

You can add -Ex to lots of simular words for Decadence. Also I like "Day of" better then "Age of", did the empire fall suddenly in big event or fade away?
