Israeli scientists wondered whether Good-Looking People are More Employable and send fake applications to different companies.

    Their (very condensed) findings:
If you are male, good looks will help you score an interview. (1 in 5 applications resulted in an interview)
For ugly males, only 1 in 11 applications went through, for them not sending pics would be much better (1 in 7).

If you are female however, things get really interesting:
Beautiful women scored very low (1 in 11), while average looking women and women without pic scored at 1 in 7. If an external agency was handling the hiring, the difference vanished (1 in 7 for all).

    The conclusions of the researchers:
Human resources is usually handled by women (~90% of the employees in the HR departments in question were women). Obviously they don't want beautiful women around them that might pose a threat to their chances with men in the company.
External agencies don't care about that, which is why they didn't feel a need to discriminate beautiful women.

    Actually, it is news.

Given the sense of class solidarity among women on certain occasions and certain issues, it is surprising.

This doesn't count the interviewing process, which has more opportunity for flaunting them looks.

True, but you can't choose to wear a bag over your head for the interview. You can choose whether or not to have a picture on your application, and how much effort to put in on making it look nice.

Maybe they just don't wanna employ blonde bimbos except for waitresses or such.

Apparently they checked that possibility, but didn't find any strong hint that the more attractive women had been considered less intelligent.

I've never heard of sending a pic with a resume. Should I do so, maybe with duck lips?

    Phew, thank goodness.
I'm a good looking man, but not a very attractive woman. Mathematically this would like quadruple my chances of being hired, right?

I work at an external HR agency and I can say this is true. Sometimes we hire secretaries/receptionists/assistants. Usually I´m in charge of initial selection for interviews, so naturally I only select the cute and hot ones. Now, when the girls over here end up doing the selection for whatever reason, they mostly end up selecting whales and ugo bitches. I´m like "the fuck is wrong with you?". "She has experience, blah, blah, blah". Fucking dumb bitch. One time I was so pissed that I actually told one of the girls that applicants must have nice legs like her; she blushed but ended up telling on me... bitch.

Not really. Another Jewish study proves that your claims of handsomeness are only 3% likely to be true.

I've observed that good looking people, once already in place, tend to get better treatment than the less attractive people.

You guys never send in an application? Pre-22 university student? Highschool dropout?

Cause sending in pictures along with your papers is standard procedure. You may not send in a formal attire picture, or send in a jpg file through electronic means, but you send one nevertheless.

The only way to get through an interview without sending one first is an informal interview where the boss interview directly without receiving resumes the days before... low wage, that kind of job.

I think it depends a lot on where you live/work.
In Germany at least sending a picture with your application is standard procedure and actually asked for, most of the time (although I guess it also depends on the job you are applying for, employers for blue-collar jobs are probably not insisting on one).
In other countries apparently it is handled differently.

22 years old. Have had a cushy webadmin/sysadmin/programmer/everything job at a prestigious university that payed $65k for the past 2 years. My resume listed classes taken, GPA, interests, and not much else. You third worldians and your silly customs :smug:

I could see why it would be a requirement for any kind of cocksucking marketing/PR job though.

Is there any region of the 'Kwa where it is customary to include a picture with a resume?

I'm guessing that that the answer is probably "no" because it would open the employer up to accusations of racial discrimination.
