On sale now is it? I picked up the boxed Anniversary Edition five years ago which seems to work independently, no activation or internet connection required. ARMA: Cold War Assault (Operation Flashpoint) is a must play if you’re into single-player campaigns. They really knew how to party back then, so many memorable edge of your seat moments. The one save per mission is brutal and provides an intensity my current pampered self can almost no longer appreciate. The expansions were pretty good too. After that they stopped caring and it became all about the multiplayer.

So, I heard sometime from someone that Operation Arrowhead single player is worth playing. Judging from this thread I assume that's not true?

It depends on what you're looking for. If you're looking for a sprawling and immersive experience that the original OFP offered then you're shit out of luck. What I'll say is that it's a competently made campaign in a boring desert setting. Some of the missions are fairly open and you can approach them in a variety of ways. It's fine as long as you don't expect too much. It's not really better or worse than any other ARMA campaign, except perhaps being a little more professional in its execution. I'm sure the OA campaign could keep you moderately entertained if you're a fan of the gameplay.

Yeah that's the thing, I haven't yet gotten into this genre, but I'm looking for a starting point. I already purchased the "Cold War Assault" and was wondering if any of campaigns in newer ones is worth a fuck. Could buy one more before sale is over. It's gonna be a while before I feel confident enough for multiplayer, so single player first.

You should have bought the 15th anniversary bundle a few days ago, 18 euros for almost complete Arma collection.

Arma's strength is in modding potential. Or even just recreating scenes like this:
