AC4 sales were less than expected, maybe they put the blame on the ship thing and not to the fact of people being sick with AC in general. Besides, in revolution France and Napoleonic France there are plenty of opportunities to shoehorn the naval battle pointless mini game.

Until Brotherhood it was free of that shit as it concentrated more on a personal story but after that it got worse and worse. In Revelations the muslim prince sweat is made of peace, flowers and goodness while the christians are evil fascists that wants, ohh terrible... Expel the Muslim invaders and take Constantinople back. Ass Creed III gets Pocahontas syndrome and shows the indians suffering on the hands of the evil white man that are made of evil sociophats while the indians blood is made of pure goodness .

Guess what happens on the story? If you guessed that the indian tribe is destroyed and the protagonist is betrayed by evil white men people, you guessed right. Without mentioning that Freedom Cry and Liberation bullshit that defend that the right solution to slavery is to murder every white person that maybe involved with it. It is so manipulative and lacking any of the complexities of the time. It is history for dumb people.

The main enemy faction in the series are the Templars, I have no idea how any of that could have caught you by surprise.

Remember Guitar Hero? They made a game, it got popular, and so they went on to flood the market with sequels and spinoffs until people were so sick of it that it killed the whole genre forever. I could see something similar happening with Assassin's Creed - maybe not killing a genre, but it can certainly kill the franchise.

Fuck yea, climbing around the Paris and on all cool buildings should be awesome.

The decline of the Assassins Creed franchise is in the players themselves and the decisions made by Ubisoft making last games playing demigod hunting deers and being a fucking pirate(!?) with shitloads of collectibles retards can enjoy wasting hours upon hours collecting. If you buy 2-3 games a year I guess it could be worth your money.
I guess this new gen type of play is not for me that wants actual gameplay and some content that isnt some chests littered over the map.

This franchise could have been much better off if they stuck to assassinations,stealth gameplay,climbing/parkour puzzles, historic world exploration and a decent story.
When playing an assassin I dont give a fuck about american wildlife or playing a pirate nor do I enjoy jumping in a group of 5-10 guards to press the awesome(tm) counter button to kill em all in slow mo. Making a majority of content that has fuck all to do with the Assassins Creed for the game itself is big step in the wrong direction.

I wasnt this critical before, but when you realise how far they have gone from the original idea its just sad. Playing a pirate majority of the game, taking over other ships and other derpy shit should not be in the game called Assassins Creed.

Um...no. Well, you're right about the Templars' motivations, but the Assassins aren't supporting religion either. Think about their creed: "Nothing is true. Everything is permitted." That's pretty much the opposite of every religious dogma. It's more an issue of them fighting for freedom; Altair even says "They're free to believe in their delusions." If the two sides represent anything, it's order versus chaos.

It's interesting, because the only thing both sides can agree on is that religion is bullshit. The story confirms it as well, by revealing that The Ones Who Came Before created us and that Adam and Eve were actually escaped slaves who ran off with the "Apple."

The last 2 AssCreeds have been shitty due to taking place in colonial villages with little real parkour opportunities, but hopping and climbing around 18th century Paris should be a blast! I hope they bring back the tomb sequences, those were a nice change of pace from the rest of the game in the AssCreed 2s.

I won't miss sailing and naval combat, it got very repetitive in Black Flag.
