The obvious difference is that the earlier cinematics mostly served to convey a certain mood, while later ones more and more just tried to look AWESOME!!1!1

(which, while cool, is true for Tyrael in the asylum, too)

I thought everyone in D2 played multiplayer? Did Blizzard and every reviewer of Diablo 3 lie to me?

Doesn't this sound eerily similar to Bioware post-DA2? They admit they made shit and tried to pawn it off, give credit to the fans for spotting it, and without apologies pretend to care and promise to get it right this time.

Minor difference being the announcement comes when they preview next patch instead of previewing next DLC.
In reality is just a standard tactic for them used plenty of times before, mostly for PvP when they nerf 1 year later something qqed on since beta.

As I thought would happen, the game is slowly turning into something worthy of the Diablo name. This really should have been in from day 1, though, and it doesn't exactly make up for the shortcomings. It also makes it look like they rushed the game out and used the shitty legendary items as placeholders.

The problem will still remain that virtually all of the equipment worth a damn is level 60 stuff by the looks of it. What's the point of grinding for items that you can only use at the max level? Contrast that with D1, D2, and especially Median XL, where you might find an awesome unique item at level 10 that you jizz over because it gives you a huge boost. In D3, that doesn't exist until you are already max level.

The biggest problem the game has, to me, is that all of the final difficulty is done at max level, and there isn't really anything to work toward. Median XL and Path of Exile give you something to work toward even after you've "finished" the game, with unique challenge areas in MXL and randomized treasure map areas in PoE. Even regular Diablo 2 has you slowly gaining more experience and levels. Even if it's just for a few skill/stat points, it still makes a big difference in making you feel like you're progressing somehow. Diablo 3 needs some kind of progression past the hard cap of level 60 or the whole overhaul is kind of meaningless.

By the time the expansion comes out, it will probably be a game worthy of the Diablo 3 title, but I don't think it's quite there yet.

No, they cashed in their chips on this one. I bet they've only had a skeleton crew of about a dozen or so working on it since 2009. Blizzard will probably add another Act for $60, but by that time the competition will completely outshine them. Blizzard had a pretty good run of about ten years, but it's obvious they've been living on fumes for a long time now. This has got to be Vivendi's fault, as I'm sure somebody's still making money off this tragic shitfest. At any rate, it's all over now.

What competition? And you can extend that question to SC2 and WoW.
They don't have any which is the main reason they can afford to be so slow.

They have some proper competition in the field of diablo clones. RTS is a niche genre at this point, the only reason SC2 sold as much as it did is because of the insane power of the Starcraft brand - the game itself is nothing special, and even people on TL dislike the new expansion, so it's probably going to disappoint. WoW is the only thing they have left, and they're releasing an expansion about pandas in a month. They're running out of IPs to milk and fans to exploit, imo.
