^ Yeah I like some of them, hence my inclusion, just not most :P

And sorry, I'm not going to single out all options for you, that'd be ton of work, lol.

It's true. I'm doing a fresh install to make sure of each option now. I appreciate all the options in some of the mods but i just err on the side of installing them when it comes to tweaks. Are all the pnp tweaks in atweaks a good idea? I don't really know how it'll all play out.

I always install them all. The readme has a detailed explanation of every component, so check there whether you personally like them.

haha yeah, definitely not asking for that, just wish it were possible to get the mod with sensible options already chosen. Time to engage my brain I guess.

Yeah I read that, most seem pretty minor and safe enough to use

Only component that makes a major difference is Fiendish Gating. It makes some fight a lot harder, which is great, but if you are not a BG2 pro, I probably wouldn't recommend installing it.

Which mode of item randomisation do people prefer in Item Randomiser? Mode 2 sounds more clever in that it randomises more item and the creatures might end up using it, but mode 1 allows you reroll it for each new saved game.

The one that randomises the most items is highly preferable. Just means you'll have to reinstall if you're planning on restarting.

EDIT: Have you played the series alot? Randomiser is only necessary if you know like 70% of the game's item locations by heart.

I was thinking the same thing in regards to your edit. I've finished the game only a few times so I don't know where a lot of the cheese items are by heart, but I know a few.

Hey guys, would you recommend the Unfinished Business mod for a first BG2 playthrough? I got the fix pack and the widescreen so far.

Hey guys, would you recommend the Unfinished Business mod for a first BG2 playthrough? I got the fix pack and the widescreen so far.

What do you like about Unfinished Business? I found them excessive and dull, or blazing clear examples of why game content should be cut. Instead of the usual "it's shit", I'll break it down since I need to procrastinate doing something else more productive.

The Kidnapping of Boo, by Cliffette : BSB if you're like me and think Minsc is one of the worst characters to ever exist in a game. Obviously going for the Chuck E. Cheese crowd (kids, for you non-Kwas) with the addition of Boo. A rather involved quest and not too herp-derp in its layout, but it's worse than a Disney movie in content.

The Suna Seni/Valygar Relationship Restoration: Ever had Valygar in your party early enough to encounter Suna with him? Yeah, that's a problem if you want to experience the vanilla dialog that reveals that they were once an item. This component adds in more overwrought fan-fiction dialog that adds zero to the game. Despite this, Valygar remains uninteresting. Subtle? Introduced with grace and humility? No. A sample on their first meeting:
Suna: "Valygar?! Valygar, is that really you?"
Valygar: "Suna Seni! Oh, how I have longed to see your beautiful face once again! I have missed you so much since I fled the city. I am sorry I had to leave you so suddenly and without explanation. It pained my soul to know that I might have hurt you."
:retarded:
Kalah and What He Was Promised, by Andyr
Terrible. You walk to an inn and fight a rakshasa. Oh, and the free rep point. I can't find anything in the original that justifies any of this. Apparently because one of the illusions was a djinn, that was stretched into this mess of Kalah getting this power via 3 wishes. Tripe.

Cat and Mouse: Bodhi hunts you in Spellhold, by Ghreyfain: Not bad and in the same vein as the Tougher series that restored the difficulty of the major ToB battles. Hardly something that qualifies as "unfinished" but whatever.

Gorje Hilldark and the Extended Illithium Quest: Getting the illithium already bordered on tedious. If you'd like to spoil a semi-major side quest's area and shove a good 30 minutes of mindless dialog click-throughs into it, this is for you.

The Pai'Na/Spider's Bane Quest: Basically a dialog-only addition, but it's real value is making it possible to get Spider's Bane again (which is otherwise unavailable in SoA... I think).

Restored Crooked Crane: Great! Finally the story of the pair upstairs makes a bit of sense. There's even some C&C later on.

Restored Encounters: A mixed bag, this. The extra two thief/vampire brawls don't add anything beyond more "Why aren't the guards intervening? This is serious." from the player. Hell hounds restored? Okay. And the vengeance seeking fighter still looks like half-assed content.

Artemis Entreri in Bodhi's Lair: But only if you have Drizzt as well? Shouldn't it be the other way around? By now you can tell that what qualifies as "unfinished business" is tenuous, at best.

Corrected "Xzar's Creations": A bizarre and extremely minor creature substitution. I guess calling the mod "Superfluous or Cosmetic Changes We Wish Could Be Thought Of As Semi-Official" was too much of a mouthful.

Restored Hell Minions, by SimDing0: This would be better served as an option in the Fixpack, or Tweaks failing that. Before SCS, there was Tactics. In between, there were AI+creature guys like Sim doing good stuff like this.

Gorf the Squisher Fix, by Gebhard Blucher: Deprecated by Fixpack.

=== I'm about 2/3 through. There's one component I'd recommend, the Restored Bhaalspawn Powers in ToB, that gives you back your BG1 innates. There's also a serious decline component auspicially named Sarevok's Remorse for Yoshimo and Tamoko. Skip it unless you think DA2 is a masterpiece of storytelling. Most of the others are deprecated or just whatever, but none qualify as the mod's title.

You know what unfinished business didn't get taken care of? Haerdalis stealing the bust of Sune from the merchant Qataris.

Any differences I should know about going from Pillars to this? Is healing/spell restoration more or less the same (rest)?

Is healing/spell restoration more or less the same (rest)?

Yes, but resting itself heals very little. Most of the healing you get from resting comes from "healing spells cast on rest", so if your party has little to no healing spells memorized, resting doesn't heal much.

Spells are restored upon resting for an 8 hour block. http://playithardcore.com/pihwiki/index.php/Baldur's_Gate:_Progression_Charts#Spell_Progression has some nice charts to see how many spells you can cast per level all the ways up through ToB levels. Levels determine the number of spells you can prepare to cast while Intelligence determines the total number of spells you can commit to your spellbook per level for mages and bards (With exception to Sorcerors who can only learn a fixed amount of spells in exchange for being able to spontaneously cast any spell in their spell book).

Hey guys, would you recommend the Unfinished Business mod for a first BG2 playthrough? I got the fix pack and the widescreen so far.

Don't bother with most of it; however, the Bodhi thing and Crooked Crane are good.

To your earlier question, I'd cautiously suggest installing Virtue once you move to BG2. It fixes the stupid alignment system so that evil/neutral characters will no longer complain about a positive reputation:

This mod sets out to remedy apparent flaws in the game's original system by splitting reputation into two separate variables: Reputation, which represents how people in the game feel about the party; and Virtue, which represents how morally correct the party's actions are. Virtue will now appear alongside reputation on the character screen, and be treated separately where appropriate.

Additionally, Virtue will affect your alignment, so if your Virtue goes down, it drags your alignment down with it. Party members also respond to Virtue instead of reputation, so you can have a party that feels your actions are good, even if everyone around you hates you. Additional familiar dialog has been written to account for the impact of changing alignment on your familiar.

Since it is only available for BG2, you'll still get to enjoy the pecularities of the original system in BG1.

(If you intend to play the whole trilogy, consider Ascension for the TOB part as well. It was directed by David Gaider, to make the ending more like it might have been if Bioware had more time to work on it. It does change the original quite a bit though, so maybe save it for a second playthrough.)

Any fix to a blurry text? -BGT

Texts that float and the ones that are in the main screen of the game are readable, no problem. But the ones that are in a box that show up in the log are really blurry and can be very hard to read, similar thing with the ones in the character creation screen.

Edit:
Nevermind, the fix is to disable something called Morphological Anti-Aliasing or something.

Edit2:
Baldur's Gate 1 Original, is really hard to make it playable, wanted to see the difference with it and the BGT and EE version but playing it full screen makes it look really terrible. Windowed and the scrolling gets missed up. Widescreen doesn't seem to work on it too, installed it and the window gets bigger but the game screen stays in the upper left corner. From playing a little bit on it, there is no dual wielding and weapons are divided into groups similar to PoE, did not know that. Walking speed is kinda bad tho, seem a little slower and pathfinding seem worse I think.

BGT, Rogue Rebalancing is pretty great, NPCs don't go instantly hostile after pickpocket is so good. 1PP kinda sucks, not the mod itself but the installer I think, whenever I decide to remove or install a new component, it deletes my Baldurs.exe, it happened several times and had to re-install the entire fucking game and mods all over again.

I also re-installed SCS to try to beat BG2 before SoD is hopefully out, I already beat BG1EE with SCS but did not try it on BG2EE, I did not install any mage related buffs to mages and since I already installed Ascension I did not add any SCS tweaks to ToB.

** Change Jaheira to Neutral Good Alignment, I could not use the amulet from romancing her because it didn't match her allignment so I did not install it.

It's not generally recommended to uninstall or change components of a mod once you've already installed something else on top of it. In theory, weidu backs up everything and can roll back changes to allow any individual mod component to be modified, but in practice that's actually fairly difficult to do perfectly and can cause all kinds of problems, especially with more complicated mods. Last time I tried it, uninstalling BGT completely broke your install, and I've had similar issues with 1pp.

Changing the locations of the assassins of the SCS component is kinda missed up, the four assassins that stand north of the map were not there when I left the mine. I met them later at the Gnoll's Stronghold and one of them spawned at the little island directly northeast of the bridge, I don't think there is a way I can get up there legitly[?]. The other 3 were very easy to kill because they were separated and came at me one at a time. I remember those 4 ambushing me between travel on the BGEE, this could be randomized or something.

Another thing, this could be related to BGT, some times when I am confronted by enemies and they enter the fog, they kinda disappear, when I move and go back to where they disappeared, they sometimes show up and sometimes different enemy shows up.

Edit:
Summons also for some reason like to follow the summoner now as soon as they get close to the fog, I think so at least, I went the mines solo and I got to Lv6 in both R/C by doing a lot of the quests and exploring the wilderness areas in the game and for some reason, summons keep following me, and sometimes they follow to another map like a room or a cave that is part of the same location and they become uncontrollable but they keep following me and attack enemies if they see them. This one I am almost sure is not because of BGT, I played BGT several times and I don't remember summons behaved like this in the vanilla BGT.

Edit2:
Yea, one of the mods changed Firewine Ruins so you can't enter it from Jenkal's house. What the fuck? that place is a drag, with Kobold keep spawning constantly and with SCS it will probably be too much of a drag.

Ulcaster was also kinda of a drag, Kobold kept spawning none stop the moment the fog of war settled in on the their spawn points. Icharid, I didn't like his fight, suddenly after getting wounded I get spammed by lighting and he heals, come on. Ulcaster Vampirewolf was kinda good, hard fight with him being strong and spawning enemies.

Insert clever insult here
Something is seriously wrong with your installation.

Only the assassins spawning randomly bug is something I've encountered or heard of - it sucks if it's the gnoll stronghold or a similar map where there's a chance for them to get stuck. The best time it happened me was on the return to Candlekeep - that was a tough fight.

Yea, the assassin fight was pretty hard when they ambushed me during travel. I am almost sure its randomized or something, since I did encounter another group of assassins right after killing the mage in the Beregost inn. They were waiting for me outside the inn. I don't remember that happening in BGEE.

I might be wrong but I think the "Dark-Side-based kobold upgrade" is the reason for the abnormally high spawn rate of enemies, most of the enemies that keep re-spawning none stop are Kobolds and sometimes they get a couple of Ogres and Wolves along with them.
SCS Description: said:
Dark-Side-based kobold upgrade

This component substantially increases the number of kobolds met, and adds some tougher "Guards" and "Chieftains" - the Nashkel Mine becomes less of a walkover, especially if "Better calls for help" is also being used.

As the name suggests, this component is substantially based on a small subcomponent of the old "Dark Side of the Sword Coast" mod for BG. I haven't been able to track anyone down from that mod to ask permission (I'm not really sure where to start) - it goes without saying that if the authors of that mod would like the component removed I'd be happy to oblige.

Warning: this is, surprisingly to me, one of the more controversial components, as it's really a fairly sharp increase in difficulty. If your usual play-style is to go to the Nashkel Mines at first level, you may find it tediously difficult (both because you're too low-level to cope with the kobolds, and because you haven't had a chance to get used to SCS).

I am not sure about the disappearing and re-appearing enemies yet, Summons also I have no idea whey behave like that. I did install a lot of components of SCS for the first time so it could be most of those issues are from it but I haven't been able to find a reason after reading the ReadMe. Other mod I used for the first time is Rogue Rebalancing, but from the ReadMe it only affects Thiefs and Bards. Other than that, game is running beautifully so far with no problems.

I think I am getting really good at the game now I hope, I finished the Bandit's Camp on my first try, It was one of the very hardest places for me in BGEE while playing SCS.

Man, I really hope that's not the case, I don't want to have to re-install everything again and I definitely don't want to lose my current run after finishing all the extra areas.

I posted my installation order and I don't think there should be anything wrong with it, I don't think there should be any incompatibilities as well since I do see a lot of people posting the same kinds of mods with each other. Everything is up to date as well. I have not changed any component after the initial installation, I didn't want to risk getting my baldur.exe deleted and having to start over.

Edit:
I will make a backup of the entire BG2 folder just in case my save doesn't load or anything like that. Will try re-installing everything again and hope for the best, Can't think of anything else to do and I really don't want to have to start over.

Edit2:
Yea, I think something got missed up after re-installation. Voices and texts change when I click on them.
Khalid's voice is Alora's -- Minsc's Coran -- Jaheira's is the NPC voice which says "step right up, step right up" .
Dynaheir says: Your decision is understandable, and not altogether undesirable. I shall do my best to not try at all in your absence. We're all doomed you know. ~kinda like what Xan would say.
Imoen has a text I think is like the letters you find.

Merida, again
Yeah, the best practice is to backup your entire install folder after you do a clean install. In case some shit happens (or you don't like a particular mod component), it's easier and faster just to delete the current working game directory and us a clean backup.
