Best game engine for a Star Wars RPG?

Actually, I'd rather see a Star Trek RPG, but which engine do you think would be best for a game full of light saber duels, character stats and Force and Consequences? Gamebryo? Crytek? REDengine?

Hard to tell.
Objectively best games in SW universe were Jedi Knight 2 and Jedi Academy(as far as gameplay goes), and they've ran on id3(quake 3 engine). Generally it doesn't matter what engine are you using(as long as the engine isn't dogshit - see gamebryo) it matters what will you do with it.

Unity of course....

On serious note - Apeiron Engine or The Engine, or that used to make roguelikes. Or UE4 but it's hard to see average stormtrooper as a big guy a'la Gears of War or else.

Assuming it is KOTOR-styled, then Unreal Engine 4. Open world would call for custom-built or heavily modified.
KOTOR engine was shit, so no not that engine.

Actually, I'd rather see a Star Trek RPG..

I've been keeping an eye on this, a community attempt to make a game that does Bridge Commander and Elite Force in one package.
Still a long way to go.

All I see in that video are ships. I don't see an RPG. Open "fan" games like this aren't even worth re-posting, IMO.

Unity 5 hands down. Whenever I see Unreal, I weep because of how beautiful it is, but Unity 5 will have physically based shading on par with Unreal... Soon, soon.

Lol, is this guy trying to imitate the nasal voice of George Takei?
Also, "engine built from the ground up"? Makes me want to go red alert, all hands to battle stations, fire photon torpedoes to blast this shit out of existence (then maybe even initiate evasive maneuvers for the sake of it).

KotOR used a modified Aurora engine from NWN - modified that is, for consoles. So not that one, maybe CryEngine.

UE4 isn't a shooter engine lol, it's similar to unity in the way it can be tailored to any type of game, Epic is really pushing it in that regard.

There is no reason there hasn't been a traditional party-based RPG in Star Wars, the way SSI did Buck Rogers. That means full party creation with class and race combinations. The original space opera movies were a party-based fantasy adventure. Bioware dropped the ball when they did KotOR, but they were already mired in decline by then, and not making RPGs anymore.

Q3 engine, obviously as JK2 and JA have been the best Star Wars game to date.

UE4 obviously but future Star Wars games will use Frostbite engine because EA owns the Star Wars game licence.

Enjoy the Revolution! Another revolution around the sun that is. Shadorwun: Hong Kong Divinity: Original Sin 2 Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire Pathfinder: Wrath I'm very into cock and ball torture I helped put crap in Monomyth
Use Unity to make an isometric party based rpg. Pillars of Eternity and Torment: Tides of Numenera both look good enough in my eyes. I don't mind how Shadworun Returns looks either, even if the characters don't look great.

Not a big fan of the setting but I would love an SW rpg with twitchy combat: lightsaber fights and shooting like in Jedi Knight + space combat like in X-Wing.
