'Caribbean!' is a blend of economic strategy and open-world RPG, set in the pirate era of XVII Century Caribbean. The game is based on the significantly improved Mount & Blade: Warband engine.

'Caribbean!' lets players decide their own role and create their own adventure.

Those who crave for battles in jungles, raids on rich cities and capturing enemy ships can choose the path of a pirate and a mercenary who will rise to the top, with the help of his own sword.

Those who aren't afraid of the words 'financial planning' may take pleasure in making great deals and expanding their enterprise by choosing the path of a merchant and businessman. Power and wealth can be achieved whichever path you choose.

Of course, if you're tired of fighting and boarding enemy ships, you can always invest your collected savings in good real estate. Or do it the other way around — sell all of your industry, acquire a fine brig and become a pirate.

Features:
  • Naval battles with controllable ships and boarding fights.
  • Building and management of commercial property in towns.
  • Detailed crew and fleet management.
  • Rank progression system for military and business options.
  • Advanced order and control system for armies in land battles.

Going to guess this is a buggy mess. It was done by the same people who 'revamped' Eador.

Always a good sign when you have to cut a bunch of stuff to get a game to release:

2) Strategic control over your own kingdom. We began thinking about implementing a full-fledged role play of a king even during WFaS development, as a part of a possible expansion. Strategic management was never the center of gameplay in M&B series, it was far more interesting to climb the mountain than standing on its top. We wanted to add a couple of attractions, at least implement control over the armies and fleet, give opportunity to influence the strategic balance of powers, the same way it’s done in grand strategy games.

Three weeks ago or so most of the projected features were cut. They put out a release trailer today but no actual release according to some? Lots of confusion and frustration by EA customers.

10 foot pole please...

It appears to be out: http://store.steampowered.com/app/293010/

They were probably just waiting for the next "Steam day" to flip over before switching from Early Access to release. Happens with lots of games. Unless you're saying the game didn't actually update?

It seems as if the game/release patch/whatever is not properly updating on Steam. Doesn't matter. Should be avoided. Maybe if you requested a Codex review copy we'd know more details!

The devs just posted a status update on steam. They sound a bit defensive butthurt, but at least they're not just winging, and they come up with a plan, namely they promise updates with improvements based on the critiques they received. Let's see what happens.

Let's discuss something. First of all, we want to draw attention to the fact that 'Caribbean!' does not contain the words "Mount & Blade" in its title. And there's a reason for that — mainly because our game is not a continuation in Mount & Blade series. Yes, some traditional features known to M&B fans are not in the game, but at the same time we added a lot of new things which were never before seen in those games.

Sure, a good portion of negative reviews is justifiable. But is our game that bad? We'd like to think it's not. In any case we'll do our best to change your mind with an upcoming set of updates in the near future.

This is also shit. Sooo many attempts and all failed. Pirates! from 1988 is still the best Pirate Game (The Remake from 2004 is ok too, but the Artstyle was too goofy for me).

Its seem that Pirates! is the same like Jagged Allliance : These Games are that good that noone is able to remake them.

Age of Pirates 2 was p. good. It needed mods to fix the russian code and everything else that was horribly broken, but underneath the wreckage was a satisfying pirate game that dared to be more ambitious than anything else after.
