I would also like to know how much of that cooperation with Pondsmith is still true, and what he thinks of the current state of the game (which we don't know anything about).

There's a recent interview that hints towards that relationship (e.g. he visits Potatoland somewhat regularly).

My team has the sexiest and deadliest waifus you can recruit.
To be honest the Empathy/Cyberpsychosis mechanic was ridiculous and 100% gamey concept simply there to prevent characters from becoming too powerful.

How many people would really go insane by transplanting their brain from their normal body to a mechanical one anyways? I'd imagine it'd be a much slower descent in any case.

Man... when will their hiring madness end? Very discomforting and suggests the game is years and years away. Either they are building an army of devs or their current devs keep leaving. :M

They are hiring because they are expanding + they want to make another AAA game before 2022, and for Cyberpunk alone in every department there will be more work than in Witcher 3.

"shrug" In fairness, word on the grapevine is that their staff had to do six months of crunch to get Witcher III done.

Because one person can only compose one type of music, right?

The thing is big part of Witcher 3 OST (if not all) was rearranged already existing tracks not new composed music.
If they do it again question remains whose music will they use.

Cyberpunk 2077 likely out by June 2019
Update March 20, 2017: In December last year, CD Projekt Red were given sizeable funding from the Polish government to research new game techniques they had dubbed 'seamless multiplayer', 'animation excellence', 'cinematic feel', and 'city creation'. The Witcher 3 developers are presumably using this tech on their upcoming Cyberpunk 2077, and they've just released some new details.

In February last year, an investor call made it sound like Cyberpunk 2077 would be released by 2019, as you can see in the original story below. This new information suggests it will be mid-2019 at the latest.

CDPR are now hiring for a bunch of roles related to the new tech advances, including multiplayer specialist, animation experts, character artists, and environmental artists. There are loads of new roles, and you can see them all over on the CDPR site, via NeoGAF.

As NeoGAF user 'boskee' points out, the timing for the creation of these projects likely points to the deadline for the game's development. Assuming this is Cyberpunk 2077, that means the game needs to be released by June 2019 at the latest, or CDPR will have to apply for an extension. No doubt they'll be aiming to be out by that date to save on the hassle.

This does mean that Cyberpunk 2077 could be two years out still, but considering we've seen pretty much no footage of it, that sounds about right. It's going to be ambitious as hell, that much we do know. It's even going to have vehicles. Hopefully it's worth the wait.

Yeah they've been on a hiring frenzy for a while. I'm guessing the previous time was maybe setting up a spiffy new engine.

Fuck it. Hope they won't show anything in the coming E3 to get us excited for a game that's at least 2 years away.

I wonder if they are working towards a Bethsoft cycle - a major release every 4 years, alternating between series.

Their inspiration is the Rockstar model. Work on one major title at a time so that would mean new game every 4-5 years or so. (Gwent doesn't count, it is super small for them.)

Yup they go for Blizzard/Rockstar model.

I think i one of interviews they said that they work on 3 things. 1 AA game and 2 AAA games. 1 AA game is Gwent, 1 AAA is Cyberpunk and obviously they will want some new IP to alternate between releases or maybe do few strong teams like Blizzard

Was that really necessary? Spending time/resources for a multiplayer component in a single player RPG with almost guaranteed sales. Feels like a total waste tbh.

Multiplayer will be part of how they are going to add more content for the game after initial release. I haven't played GTA V but I think Rockstar did something like that.

Mp will be there. Like it or not. :mixedemotions:
