Heavy breathing, "take my money," and at least one Daniel Bryan meme.

I can already see the blurbs:

"Fallout Shelter 2: Experience the second incarnation of the classic base builder, guest written* by the RPG giant himself, Chris Avellone! Delve deep into the narrative-driven world of Vault 23, where everyone ponders one question: what can change the nature of war?

*may or may not be limited to a single line of dialogue"

Well there is nothing to tease really,we all know that new Fallout is in the making. After all corporations don't run on magic.

Well, Avellone worked with Arkane on Prey, he must have good contacts with Bethesda higher ups, with Arkane games don't selling that well, I wouldn't be surprised if they relocated Arkane to support a Fallout spin off on the making, Bethesda already said they are working on new IPs, it makes sense to make a Fallout spin off right now. This could be good news because at least Arkane are good on level design. Being optimistic, we would have a Fallout 4 spin off with decent level design and if Avellone has a bigger role on the development, maybe one with decent world building instead of utter retardation. If you guys expect more than a open world popamole shooter, however, you are losing your time.

I don't think these images necessarily relate to something that will be released this year.

Best to worst o me hopes:
!. Beth hires MCA an some o his oppos to make a "classic" fallout game, 2d, isometric, turn based, old SPECIAL system. He forms his own company, lures Troika triumvirate an other veterans to his side, an goes on to specialise in small niche games that are experimental and set in many different genres.
2. Remake on original fallout to celebrate whatever anniversery, wi lots o modern bells an whistles, an some cleanup like proper resolution for followers.
3. Remake on original fallout in Beth engine.
4. Fallout 4 dlc. I've heard f4 gutted special system an setting but Dead Money were me favourite game in a long bloody time so even here I hold out hope. Means i'd have to buy f4 though, decline.

My team has the sexiest and deadliest waifus you can recruit.
I don't really know what Avellone could scavenge if he could do a DLC for F4.
The game's fundamental design is so lacking that I have hard time seeing anything worthwhile coming out of it.

I doubt Chris will be playing more than a minor role in anything to be honest, and his writing 1uality has went downhill since PS:T.

Chris' writing can't save a shitty action game with the "Fallout" name.

Sure, the dialogue's he writes will probably be great, that's about it...

Fallout doesn't need "great writing". It needs concise, plain-spoken, feet-on-the-ground, COMPACT writing, divorced of writers' emotional biases.

What Fallout needs the most, is the designer's understanding of what made Fallout a step forward.

It wasn't the 50s themes, no matter how much ye olde music Todd Howard will blare at you. It wasn't Dogmeat. It was the strong drive to make a somewhat elastic and immersive world which doesn't insult player's intelligence, and is inspired by tabletop RPGs. This drive filtered down to a multitude of design decisions big and small, including the little text screen, which partially plays the role of a DM.

I'd only rejoice if it's out of the hands of Bethesda. I'm sure even Avellone alone couldn't salvage the wreck a Fallout 5 would be.
