Hello! :)

I'm 31, and a French adventure game fan!

I've played hundreds of them, my favorites being the likes of Broken Sword, Runaway, Discworld... and visual novels like Ace Attorney, Hotel Dusk, 999 / Zero Escape, etc...

Since a year, I am developing an adventure game named "Demetrios", which you may have heard about (it was mentioned on pretty much all popular adventure games sites!)

Here's my game trailer :

The game is currently on Kickstarter, and is already 65% funded!

"Demetrios - The BIG cynical adventure" is a classic Point & Click in first person, but with a specific cynical humor and very interactive / contextual (characters will often react to the stupid things you do!)

I'm doing everything myself : programming, graphics, musics, dialogs... and marketing :p

A demo version is available in English and French, the whole Chapter 1 for almost 2 hours of gameplay!

(Bjorn, please shut up, you keep saying bullshit...)

What do you think? :)

No reply? Is no one interested? :/

Anyway! My cynical adventure game inspired by Broken Sword requires your help!

Despite a good ratio of yes votes, a successful Kickstarter and very positive feedbacks, it didn't get a lot of views on Steam Greenlight on the first days and is now getting stuck in the ranking. It seems it's sometimes difficult for adventure games to pass, not the favorite genre of gamers.

Please vote for it! ==> http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=502785332

The Kickstarted has reached its goal :) And not only that!

Charles Cecil said this about my game! :D

I was so glad to see he accepted my invite on Facebook and he replied :) (being a game dev has some advantages!)

The next stretch goals are for translating the game into Spanish (3 000 €) and German! (3 500 €) I've posted articles on the creation of a room in the game there, check the updates :)

I have also posted an article on "Making a quality game on a tiny budget" which was featured on GamaSutra!

The development of Demetrios is in the last stages, so I expect to release the game in a few months. :)

Lake Kubilius, one of the few early testers of the game has finished Demetrios! He really enjoyed the game and wrote a quick review of it!

Having recently finished an alpha build of the game, I can say with confidence that this is something new and wonderful!

Fans of point and click adventures will be delighted to see some fresh blood in the genre, with fantastically risky writing and art choices coming together for fun effect.

The game is driven by a ridiculous sense of humor that defies classification. Many of the best elements of the "Leisure Suit Larry" games are reborn here, excepting that most of the stuff that put off female gamers has been replaced with stuff that would feel more at home in "South Park."

Amusing mini-games are sprinkled throughout, including an optional hunt for cookies in every scene. Searching for cookies is especially fun, and finding them yields more jokes. The cookies also serve as the currency exchanged for game hints, which is a wickedly clever design choice. (If you carefully search every scene for cookies, you should need fewer hints. If you only need a few hints, and the game gives you those hints in exchange for cookies, no one gets mad and ruins the fun with a walkthrough. )

The story is fun, but almost incidental. The real treat is wandering around as these ridiculous characters, doing ridiculous things.

This game was a good time.

The part about it being "something new" really pleases me, because that was my intention - offering the adventure gamers something different, a game like no other that you'll definitely want to try :)

I've posted an update on Kickstarter with more information on what has been done and what's left, check it here!

Among many other things, I've added cutscenes, achievements, cookies and extras :)

I met Bruce Campbell last week at a Dennys restaurant. He was clearly drunk and kept loudly announcing to everyone who he was and expected them to remember him from movies he was in nearly thirty years ago. When it became clearer and clearer that nobody had any idea who he was, he got angry and started shouting that they wouldn't know what good television was "If it ran up to your mother and face-fucked her".

When I went to the restroom a little later, I saw him in the corner, curled up in a ball and crying. I patted him on the shoulder and I said that Ash vs. The Evil Dead is pretty shit, and he just broke down into loud sobs. Overall, I think I did a good thing that day.

Dear COWCAT
I am afraid that you seemed to misunderstood cynicism (1. An attitude of scornful or jaded negativity, especially a general distrust of the integrity or professed motives of others: the public cynicism aroused by governmental scandals. 2. A scornfully or jadedly negative comment or act: "She arrived at a philosophy of her own, all made up of her private notations and cynicisms" (Henry James). 3. Cynicism The beliefs of the ancient Cynics.) with juvenile, unfunny faggotry for retarded cheese-eating cow dongs.
I believe that there is still some time left to change the name of your game, so it won't be so confusing for potential buyers.

Well, a game can't be summarized into a one-minute long trailer, you know?... I just picked some of the most obvious gags.
And if that makes you mock or laugh about it, good! At least my game has a clear, distinct identity, unlike so many others.

I am also french and think that you should never have written the game in english. Writing is paramount in adventure games, especially when they mean to be funny. By writing in a foreign language directly, you are setting limits on yourself which, if I judge by your trailer, you do not seem to have overcome.

It seems you have the wrong opinion based on the trailer.
Take a peek at the reviews from people who have actually played the game!

Just Adventure rated it B, which is pretty good :) And the content is clearly positive!
http://justadventure.com/2013-05-20-21-09-14/3425-demetrios-the-big-cynical-adventure-review

Here’s another review from The Retro Princess who liked the game very much : http://www.theretroprincess.com/?p=410

And another from Indie Game News : http://www.indiegamenews.com/2016/05/review-demetrios-big-cynical-adventure.html

A non-Point and Click Youtuber absolutely loved it and said it was amazing in a review video :

I know more good reviews are coming up from the gaming testers feedbacks :) So far I have yet to encounter someone who didn't enjoy Demetrios!

The game releases in a few hours!

Demetrios has been updated with a MAJOR change : a "toilet humor" option! :D

toilethumor2.jpg

Does this make it the first adventure game in history with that kind of choice?!
Yes, now you can choose to play Demetrios without any "gross" jokes! :) I know a few people didn't like this aspect of the game, so hopefully you can enjoy this adventure better!

This also includes a new music track in Nogo (I know the soundtrack could be a little repetitive with only 2 tracks there), a full Russian translation, and a few minor fixes.

To celebrate this, Demetrios is 25% off this week only!
