I will not replace my arm with a bionic one until the tech is advanced enough to let me play video games and write code with precision

I quite like this approach to marketing from Square Enix/Eidos. It supports a good cause and is far better than some of the real shady, manipulative shit other companies get up to.
Shame the game will merely be "good for what it is" though.

I would like to see in my lifetime a working bionical eye to completely cure the blindness.
Imagine the world without any physical flaws and diseases.
What Adam Jensen stands for as swiss army knife (minus the violence and war), would be reachable for our (cyber)future for all people.

If by all people you mean the rich and powerful then yes.

I believe it will be available, but it will probably costs so much the average people wont able to afford it.

Hell, your average person cannot afford long, continuous treatment like cancer without drying their incomes dry and leave them with debt that transcend generations

Yeah I can just see how great it will be when people with money will be smarter, faster, stronger and have 2* the life span of the working class.

This is why I'm looking forward to Mankind Divided. Because it leads to discussions like this.

It's pretty terrible when people with money get unequal treatment under the law, better access to essential life goods, and can guarantee that their children will have a whole host of unfair advantages in education and employment over the poor. Either you accept that this is part of life or you try to find a way to equalise the situation through various means as best you can. Publicly owned resources that are available to all. Universal education. Or in this case, perhaps subsidised or free augments. Maybe there's public scholarships to get the best and brightest from less privileged backgrounds improved. A world full of enhanced people will presumably have flow on effects that do benefit the non-augmented, especially if you're talking about enhanced intelligence. General scientific advancements go along with augmentation technology.

Of course, thinking about the situation feels like you're worrying about a very specific and limited period of human history. In the world of Deus Ex, Artificial Intelligence is hot on the heels of this technology, and that is the far more disruptive thing. Nobody cares if you can be twice as strong and fast as a baseline human when you're building gods that hold the fate of humanity in their hands. You're all ants to them anyway.

The first parts of your post describes socialism. Which works in alot of northern countries (scandinavia). We have free healthcare, free education. Alot of children and young people have access to the same opportunities, regardless of social standing. That's equality. It also often comes at a heavy price. In Denmark, we already pay for technology that helps disabled people and so forth. You can apply for public funds to get a piece of technology to help you out. This would apply to augmentations.

I remember being 10 years old at school and my friend used to always talk about how amazing Deus Ex was, and that it was some kind of ultimate game. What a shame I never got the chance to try it out myself back then.

It wasn't until I was maybe 14 years old that I rented out Invisible War for the Xbox. Being my first Deus Ex game, I thought it was spectacular. I loved that game. I never managed to successfully play Deus Ex, probably because I was missing that nostalgia element I never had with it. I just wish I could have enjoyed it back in it's day, like I did many other classics like Morrowind & Fallout 1 & 2.. grew up playing those titles.

I think Human Revolution was great, but I sorely miss having melee weapons and attacks. When I play HR, I unbind the take cover & quicktime melee attacks, and play exclusively in first person. The game is better this way, but I always feel something is missing when an enemy attacks close range when I can't retaliate with a melee weapon, or if I'm standing beneath a security camera and can't bash it with my baton..

I missed deus ex on release and only played it years later when I found it in a bargain bin when I was about 25 and I loved every minute of the game and could not believe I only then found about it.

Original Deus Ex anecdote up in this bitch:

Tried playing it a few times over the years as I'd heard it was such a classic but I just couldn't get into it. Eventually manned up and stuck with it. Then did a further four playthroughs. Best Deus Ex game, fight me 1v1, etc etc.

You should play it Drakortha

I had a game magazine with a prerelease preview for Deus Ex in '00 but I was only 9 at the time and wasn't able to buy it. I ended up purchasing it out of a bargain bin in about 2006-2007, and couldn't get into it. In around 2010 I repurchased it on steam (lost the physical disc at some point) and managed to push through the first two levels, after which the game picked up a bit and I was able to finish it.

Deep in your subconscious mind spreading lies.
Deus Ex was the first game I ever installed that our family computer couldn't handle properly. I stilled played it. With the crazy frame rate it took me about 3-4 weeks to get to the top of the statue in the first mission, at the time, I thought that would be the end of the game.... Got to the top, was told to go to UNATCO.... but I had already killed everyone there because I didn't realize all npc's weren't enemies.... Had to start over. Gave up on the game for about 5 years. Was much better when I came back to it and could understand what the fuck was going on.

I've been watching a lot of Youtube on this. Has anyone else noticed changes in the graphics at E3 2016 compared to E3 2015? Most notably the lighting effects.

Publishers always gussy up their gameplay demonstrations for the trade shows. See: The Witcher 3 graphics controversy, etc.

I think they've just reduced the heavy sharpening, removed some blur and made the Ambient Occlusion seem more natural, not like how aggressive it was in the E3 2015 demo.

In case people haven't seen it yet.

The shameful shilling for Squareidos in the last 30 seconds of that video...

As for why you should be mad? Because back then you stood very strongly by your principles, and Eidos Montreal's games shit all over those principles. They're more interested in using the IP to best Metal Gear Solid. But sure, it's still something to be proud of and Human Revolution is by no means a complete disgrace. It could have always been much, much worse as the industry has shown time and time again, so Deus Ex got lucky in that sense.

As for my DX anecdote: I was a teen, and it was my introduction to the Looking Glass breed of games aside from playing a little bit of Thief as a kid, and like many I struggled with the first mission. It was ugly, clunky and demanding when expectations for a first person game were set by the simplistic but tight likes of Doom, Half-Life etc. I wasn't worthy and put the game down. Some time later I gave it another go and my love continually deepened the further I played, shortly thereafter causing me to seek out what else this developer had to offer. Cue falling in love with the rest of the classic Immersive Sims too, which are varying degrees of absolutely exceptional. To this day I'm still saddened these games were not industry dominating as quality, genius and hard work undoubtedly deserves recognition, and their cumulative design is still yet to be bested.
All hope is lost these days anyhow. Games are dumb, undemanding and utterly compromised across the board. Games designed for children back then were far more engaging than games designed for adults these days. You all enjoy your Popamole Revolution 2.
...but Eidos Montreal have no obligation to artistic integrity when Ion Storm sold themselves out and the Immersive Sim with it by making Deus Ex: Invisible War.

New concept art released, I have to say I really like the "augs lives matters" touch, it makes sense that x live matters becomes similar to our usage of the -gate suffix.
