My first spontaneous reaction is just to hate the talent trees. I get it that stat increases are kind of boring and not particularly engaging to the player, but giving away 20 str or 25 agi on a levelup is pretty ridiculous. Passive gold per minute talents are a travesty, and honestly the closest to LoL mechanics I've ever seen Dota get. But you're right, need to play awhile to see how it all plays out.

I got home from 8 hours of work to see that I have a copy of Dota 3 on my steam account.

What the fuck

i agree with roshan being on top though. dire side advantage has always been one of the big balance problems in dota. The UI is nice and the backpack seems weird but doesn't really matter much. The changes to leveling on the other hand completely change the whole support/carry dynamic. I don't know what the effects are but it will be so different I will have a hard time calling it Dota. Also, talent trees are fucking lame and lazy game design. we already have awesome items like aghs... why does every hero get a mini aghs every few levels?

High stat gains in talents are usually 20+ lvl so it doesn't make any real difference if you start counting in old +2 stat levels.

Some of them make little sense and/or are OP af tho. Take necro for example, raw +50 damage on level 10.

On a side note, new techies is pretty damn fun to play. UI needs work though.

OK now that the dust has settled (it hasn't), these changes are super interesting but Dota still feels like Dota.

While the phrase 'skill tree' makes me want to projectile vomit just from the connotations, I think this is an icefrog thing to do. In hindsight, it makes sense why the frog wasn't satisfied with just raw stats after 16. Dota games have always been more about gold than levels, and the difference between a lv 12 and lv 15 hero is nothing compared to a 3k net worth lead. XP becomes totally irrelevant to the game after your supports have hit 16, and the frog stretched the whole xp system out to fix that. Players were leveling too quickly and early game fights where everyone only has two or three skills leveled don't happen very much. Skill order also didn't matter that much since you would spend most of the game with 16+ levels, especially if you play in low MMR pubs where nobody can end a game on time. By filling out the 25 levels with occasional buffs, it gives incentive for high-skill players to do more than just play defensively. A pos6 player like PPD playing AA couldn't just sit in base and throw out iceblasts for 20 minutes.

The removal of raw stats may have a huge impact on cores though. A lv25 drow would have 20 less free agi and less armor. I don't know what the effects of this will be yet but I think it's going to change the whole core//support dynamic

Too much evasion for fuck's sake. It's ridiculous. At least Slardar looks decent now.

Yea, a lot of cancerous upgrade to the famous cores. AM, TA, Void got insane buff on level 20 and 25.

I don't mean you specifically. I've just been reading too much reddit.

Ooo man I only ever play as Invoker right click build and let me tell you..

I'M GONNA BE OP AS FUCK IN 7.0!

Maybe people will finally consider this a legit build. Either way I'll be stomping everyone lol.

Well actually I'm in low priority so hopefully they'll pardon me out (sometimes they do that on big updates). If not I'll just uninstall again I guess w/e.

Also just want to say that when DOTA 2 was in beta I complained about the UI taking up too much space and it seems that 3 years later they've finally pulled their heads out of their asses and cleaned it up a little.

AM is hilariously broken
His agh is basically linken+lotus on much cheaper cost and lower cooldown. Add 3 sec Blink and level 25 and you can't do jack shit to him unless you have Black Hole, RP, or Axe's Call. You really really need to hard counter AM now.

And yet you can't see your status, no indicator about base attribute and attribute added from item. 7.50 patch notes: no statuses, only attack, armor, magic resist, magic amp + flat bonus to health and mana each level

Hating that new patch, they killed techies. And the talents trees are not even close to balanced between the heroes or even between 2 choices. Not really sure I want to play Dota again, we came too close to lol to my taste and the already insane GPM increases even more.

Do you guys have poor performance after this new patch? My fps dropped like from 60 to 40 making windowed borderless completely unplayable.

Tried my first game. This is LOL. People might adapt but it will never be the same. It is basically group fight all the time, thanks to those damn teleporters.

They really didnt. Techies right now is way stronger than it ever was before, in the right hands of course. Played against a mid techies that basically carried their team for 50 minutes because the rest of that team was dogshit, if they were any good we wouldve gotten stomped in 20min. With early map rotations becoming so goddamn important an early lvl7 techies just wrecks faces. Put a proxi with a remote every 400range and everytime a support walks through just one of those you get a kill.

After playing for a couple of days:

- UI is complete ass. Having to constantly shift where you're looking to get to crucial information is just bad. Even if they're iterating daily on this shit (why do they even have a test client if they're not going to use it, btw?), it's still hot garbage. Especially bad is the "other unit" UI frame that thankfully can be turned off and reverted to the way it was before.

- On a 1070, I used to be able to play at 4k without ever dipping below 60fps, even the craziest teamfights. Now I can't hold 60fps on the same machine at 1080p. Pressing alt or enter to bring up chat tanks the framerate by a whole 10 frames. Nice testing, Valve.

- Monkey King is probably the most broken hero in Dota 2 upon release. I'm not going to say Dota because there's been some pretty ridiculous shit in the past, but back then it wasn't 'professional design', just a bunch of twats releasing shit that was really crazy. MK is just retarded. There's no way Icefrog designed this hero (it even has that shit League of Legends mechanic of hit x times, gain a buff). Fuck this monkey in the ass. The stacks for his passive need to fall off asap, they need to increase the cooldown on his tree hop and give it a significant mana cost, AND they need to nerf his range (which feels more than the stated 300, btw). Being one shot by this fucking cunt from 1k range away because he built stacks off some other poor sap is just infuriating. This isn't even mentioning the fact that it's impossible to win a lane against him unless you're a ranged hero and mid. Any lane with trees he wins vs any ranged hero without a blink escape, because if he lands one tree jump you're dead. This is from level 2. I don't think even Earth Spirit was this broken on release, and that's saying something.

- Whenever a patch of this magnitude hits, there are just too many retards playing, beyond the usual level of retardation. It makes for a very frustrating experience to solo (I expect a certain amount of shit when I solo queue, but this is too much).

- Fuck Monkey King.

- I still don't like talents - giving people something for free rewards lazy and passive play. Free gold per minute talents is something I can honestly say I never expected in Dota. This is some straight League of Legends bullshit, with no hyperbole.

- Shrines are kind of fun especially given that you can teleport to them and ambush someone pushing your tier 2 from behind real easily. I like the addition. People still haven't realized the power of shrines in the safelane though, you can just yolo all your hp and mana at like level 2 or something and get all of it back, then the other team is fucked because they wasted their purchased regen. Not sure how this will play out but I guess competent teams will always contest shrines and not let the other team heal for free after a trade - however, I think it's a little weird that the regen keeps ticking even if you're in combat.

- Fuck Monkey King.

The UI is getting patched frantically so I'm not too worried about that. It's already improved a lot.
Monkey King will probably also get patched, and talents too.

I'm not sure how I feel about the general gameplay. Game seem to be a lot busier than before. Lot's of stuff to do - all the time. But learning the intricacies of the new map will help I guess.

I think I like the customizations of the Talents actually. Remember you have to use a level to get a talent, so it's a trade off.

EDIT:
Already made some fun plays teleporting onto the Shrine and ganking from the highground (Radiant T2 tower). Smoking before the clock to get enemy runes.
