Dragon Age: Origins - Stuck in Brecilian Forest - No Werewolf Pelt for the Hermit

I killed the Grand Oak for the mad Hermit and now he needs a werewolf pelt to make my party able to pass the barrier.

But there aren't any left. I cleared the areas long ago and sold the pelts. But they aren't there any more, I checked all the now available merchants.

Did my game become unfinishable ? My last intact save was long ago (39 of 77 hours) so I might as well restart if there's no fix for it.

If I attack the hermit he teleports away, he doesn't want to talk about anything to me any more, I can't loot his stump to make him hostile any more either.
Revisiting the areas doesn't let Werewolves respawn and travelling around won't give the random werewolf encounter (seems I have to do this undoable quest first before it can appear and it doesn't yield pelts to pick up anyway according to the video I've seen).

Is there a way to continue with this quest (maybe an editor to add the item) or is my game screwed forever ?
