The only escort quest worth doing is Selene's, so you can make sure best girl becomes your waifu.

Initially I didn't know the notice board quests are repeatable and because of my OCD I needed to complete them all. Guiding Reynard to Greatwall was fun, especially right after coming to Gran Soren for the first time, at lvl 8 or so. I just mindlessly picked up all notice board quests without reading them first and suddenly boom, Reynard emerged from the bedroom and the quest marker popped up faaaaar in the fog of war. I sneaked past two cyclops, two chimeras and a gang of stripped lizards because I didn't know how to cancel the quest. Took me two hours to complete. The silver lining is I got early to Matthias and bought some great daggers for my Strider.

One question - I'm playing an Assassin now and it feels like I lack in DPS. Seems to me my Warrior main pawn is mowing down mobs twice as fast with his longsword. I have Snagdaggers, fully upgraded and I couldn't find anything better so far. I've been using them since like lvl 9 and I'm level 32 now. All traders sell the same crap they were selling 30 levels ago and the loot hasn't been great either. My main pawn is still using the same longsword (Malignance) she found 20 levels ago. The combined Strength and Magick damage (almost 900) is just way over anything I could find later on. Thing is my map is almost completely revealed, I don't think there's a huge number of locations I haven't visited yet. So how the fuck do I get better gear? Please don't tell me I just have to grind the respawnable chests or some such.

Well, you could provide the Gold Idol to one of the merchants to upgrade their inventory. It will also get better as you progress in the main quest.

But yeah, daggers do feel kinda weak compared with the impact force of a longsword. Damage is good, but stagger? Almost nonexistant.
And Malignance is top tier base game Longsword I think.

Respawnable chest grinding, (you can save before opening them, reload etc. etc.) progressing the story will update shops, give the Gran Soren Armourer (They're masterworks all, you can't go wrong) the Gold Idol from following around and letting that little bowl-headed cunt win the foot race, go to Bitterblack Isle, beat the game. Malignance is a good weapon, you have a shit weapon, so your Warrior is wrecking face. Pure physical weapon is even better.

Give Ser Berne in the Encampment 3 foreign knives, and he'll want to suck your dick. Escort him to Shadow Fort (more like he'll escort you, since he's a fucking beast) and get a Gryphic Victory for free for a Warrior. Lasts you till post-game.

I know for a fact that you can get Kunai, a dark elemental set of daggers in Leaper's Ledge in Soulflayer off one of the first corpses you come across after sliding down the slope. Why that's stuck in my brain, I have no idea.

Pure physical weapons are better than magick/phys weps? Is that like in Dark Souls where split damage weps are total shit?

You have to have more attack than an enemy has defense to do proper damage. Since your attack is split, both values are less than they should be. Your magick power isn't applied to an elemental weapon unless a mage (or Mystic Knight) casts an elemental buff on your weapon and only for the duration of the spell. The wiki details everything nicely.

Some of the more tedious parts of BBI got a lot easier once I realised they sold unlimited blast arrows for just 650 gold each (!), along with unlimited conquerors periapts. The damage output from a tenfold flurry with blast arrows is just absurd. Might as well be a nuclear rocket launcher. The Big Bad in particular is a fucking chore as a warrior or fighter. Floating in the air and blasting you to shit if you dare climb him, and you're completely fucked if you're not already climbing him when he does his magic whirlpool crap. But with a longbow? BRRRT BRRRT BRRRT dead. Not as fun or satisfying as an arc of obliteration, but the damage, oh the damage. I ended up using that mod that let me have the best of both worlds: warrior weapon and longbow equipped at the same time. Come at me, bro. The ghost things and living armours were still a pain though. Gits.

At this point I'm now level ∞, have killed offline and online ur-dragon, and done every quest barring Madeleine's last one (which didn't trigger as I missed her first quest). My pawn has decent enough gear to be immune to basically every status effect, and I've got a great big hammer and a nice bow, and am almost out of RC. I could try the speedrun mode I guess, but I've already done new game plus about 6 times (for the free dragon-forging before I could easily do BBI dragons). Still, I got a good hundred-odd hours of fun (mostly) out of it. Would've enjoyed it more if fighters/warriors didn't get fucked constantly by things flying in the air with no recourse. The pawns will sometimes help but aren't terribly reliable.

Best parts: Stunlocking a whole group of eliminators to death with 3 other warrior/fighter pawns. Throwing citizens into the Everfall.
Worst parts: Pawns deciding to climb the second condyclops when the first hasn't even lost half its health. Flying enemies hovering just out of reach. Wolves hunt in packs, Arisen.

Tis weak to fire !
The tail is severed!
Do not just attack blindly.
Strength in numbers, Arisen.
What did you expect with my help?
We have triumphed!
'Tis hardly fitting of an Arisen...
Even the Arisen can err, Master.

Oh yes, that was something else that bugged me. Some of those voice lines seemed to have the emphasis on the wrong words, and it sounded a bit weird.

One of them was, "That was hardly a warm up", which made it sound like a denial of someone else's statement, instead of simply suggesting it was easy. The other was regarding the portcrystals, which ended with "through the use of a magic item", as if the fact it was magical was the important thing, rather than being a specific magic item (of which there were many).

I wish I could have escorted Fournival to the confines of the world. Only thing missing in that beautiful romance, but I treasure every minute of it deep inside my heart.

Feel free to throw your pawn into the brine. They rapidly rise to your level if you bring them back out of storage again. The game works fine solo, mostly. You can put a bunch of BBI gear you got after soloing the whole game on your level 4 pawn to impress other giant nerds.

Throwing your pawn off a cliff:

What a gaffe! I was clumsy!
