Oh I see.

I guess there are set-piece scenarios with objectives but it doesn't necessarily mean the game is linear. Somebody should ask the devs about that on Twitter.

"Open all chests" as an objective implies that you won't be able to open those chests after combat is over, so that strongly suggests a mission-based structure.

Yes, but maybe missions that are strewn throughout a non-linear overworld (the titular Menhir Forest)

The world does not always have to be fully connected but there's something between a fully connected world and being teleported away from one battle to the battle choice screen.

I don't know this old image back from December made it feel like there be exploration and such instead of mission map to mission map. Unless it was just the intro into a mission or things had changed from that old update.

Well if it is mission map to mission map structure not all of them will just be combat I suppose? Or well not be only about combat.
