All this silly 7DS vs. Aledorn enmity in this thread serves no purpose, get it together people.
This is not as much as 7DS vs Aledorn, but more a why TSI with a lazy kickstarter has gathered so much attention, while Team21 has invested much work hours and put so much love in to their work and their kickstarter and has just barely reached the 60k. Then after it was clear that both kickstarters will just reach only their founding goal, TSI has fled the battlefield despite good support from media and perhaps future shout outs (while fleeing they did not even give one to Team21), while Team21 stood firm and has fought to the end, deserving this small victory. We don't know when or if TSI with 7DS will return to kickstarter, but surely Team21 has proven more than their worth and their determination, at least in the kickstarter departement. We can expect more good things in the future from Team21, while from TSI we can expect only to see their backs, if the things get tough.

Pretty romanticized view of business decisions. As if it was better to fight a pointless losing battle instead of realizing that you screwed up and retreat to regroup. TSI did the right thing.

A old team from the 90's can basically have a poorly-defined and a mediocre project with **** art and pull in a lazy 100K.
The media bangs on the drums for them too. Look they made some art with Unity store assets and they look like
they are going to have 80 spells wow 80 that is amazing! Please everyone shower them in money for there retirement funds they
have a document that says "lots of spells and ****".

Indies have to work like crazy and fight for every inch.

(...)

And the media won't go near you or report on you. They are too busy with trash like "Destiny's" new patch for loot and "World of Wallet raiding craft".
A feeding frenzy of decline.
I saw something of the kind happening in Rock, Paper Shotgun.
Even though the people behind RPS give some strong attention to the indie scene and several KS, I don't remember any of them noticing the Aledorn stuff. Not a single mention.

Yet, right now, if you go to the Witcher 3 last trailer news thread you'll see plenty of posters arguing about the nudity and the boobs reference in the trailer.
Sure, sure. Because female breasts are disgusting and no-one likes to see them, right? I suppose that most RPG players don't browse the web for porn, I suppose?
Instead of debating wether the game will have a good, consistent universe and a nice interaction between player and gaming world, they're debating the nudity aspect of the game!

Really says a lot about the stupid, hypocritical world we live in.

I do share your sentiment but I think the answer to that particular question is clear: name recognition / pedigree. Personally I'm always more comfortable backing developers I trust (aka proven game developers, even if they haven't done anything recently) at a higher tier than something that might turn out to be vaporware in the end.

Not a romanisation, but the message that TSI conveys through their actions. TSI would not have lost much resources, it they would have continued to work on their ks, but gained much experience and would have told their community that they are believing in their product, while now they have show us that they do not do this. And if you interpretations would be true, then it is even worse, because it will be just a soulless product with only financial gain in mind.

The cultural marxism of SJW is a threat to all culture. And people will slowly wake up, and see the damage that is done in the name of equality, at the least if the burning of books starts. For SJW things like the Venus de Milo is misogyny. But at least in certain countries this movement is still very very weak, like in the slavic countires or spain and italy.

I understood it well enough Darkzone but whatever, I tire of this exchange, so w/e.
No hard feelings.
But of course I am right and you are wrong :)

No hard feelings also. I just wanted to state the we have nothing against 7DS, but we are disappointed that DoA has not gathered the deserved attention, and if TSI pulls their stuff together, then 7DS can be a very good game. And despite different opinions on the actions of TSI we both will be glad if both games turn out good.

I'm not happy with how the campaign ended. They had a really low goal and they barely hit it, possibly with some inside help. I'm not sure if they will be able to deliver anything...

Prove me wrong, guys.

In regards to the low goal, they said costs are comparatively low in the Czech republic and most team members are working on a freelance basis - not full-time.

Yeah, all kickstarters are a gamble, even the high-profile well-funded ones. I put $30 into this one and if it doesn't deliver, no major loss. I spend as much on one night out at the movies. These guys showed enough promise for me to take a chance on them.

During this campaign I learned more about their game than ANY OTHER KS that I've backed. Their updates felt and read like chapters from their internal design document packed with actual lore, mechanics, character systems, etc. Kudos to Team 21 for their tenacity and perseverance. This is what hard work and dedication looks like... :salute:

I look forward to seeing this game develop. The kickstarter campaign had me on the edge of my seat. I had to walk away and check back well after the end time.

So now what? Do we keep discussing the updates?

Bros, the official site has just been updated, we can now pledge more to help them reaching more stretchgoals

It's strange how they manage the pledges on their site, as some of them are different in content and amount of pledge.
Eg, the black wolf tier
from KS :
90$ : All of the Above (Except For Early Bird tiers) + Boxed Copy of DoA: Save Aledorn's County (SIGNED) + Physical Soundtrack for DoA: Save Aledorn's County (SIGNED) + Your Name in The Credits as a Bronze Backer!

From the site
130$ : Tier 8 BLACK WOLF
With the x§ Exclusive Starting Equipment For Your Party, Digital Art Book for DoA: Save Aledorn’s County, Exclusive A1 Size Canvas Map, A2 Poster, Limited Edition DoA: Save Aledorn's County coin, Alpha Access, Beta Access to DoA: Save Aledorn’s County and access to our backers forums with the Troll forum badge. International shipping included.

In the facts, the rewards for this tier 8 are in the KS 150$ Tiger pledge

I was starting to wonder whether you'd decided to run away spend all the KS money on beer.
And in the end you were just recovering from your beer hangover.

Welcome back. Thanks for the info and keep fighting the good fight.

Update #19

Switching to Unity 5 – Village Manto

Greetings friends, backers and fans of our game, Dungeons of Aledorn.

We are proud to present you today the first fruits of our successful Kickstarter campaign. One of our main goals was to upgrade our Unity 4 engine to Unity 5 Pro and thus considerably increase the looks of the game. The difference between the newest and older old version of the town Manto is already clearly visible and we´re just warming up!

.

Last time, we were promising some news about the skill mechanics and rules. After long discussions and extra testing we´ve chosen the GURPS rules as the leading inspiration for our game´s skills and abilities system. Each level up will give you some points to distribute among attributes, skills and perks. Of course the requirements will vary, e.g. the improvement of attributes will be almost always the most expensive.

.

Another neat feature common to GURPS-like systems has led us to connect the skills into "congenial skill-groups". We didn´t like how some RPGs restrict players to using of just a specific weapon type, because you´ve invested points only in its skill, disregarding the similar weapon types, in which you should be logically also (at least partially) proficient. A master swordsman becomes thus completely useless when you happen to find a legendary axe, as he would probably hurt himself more than his enemies.

.

With the "congenial skill-groups" system, every point in one skill adds a partial skill point to all skills in its group. A level six skill in sword-fighting will let you use the axes (under a condition of a slight penalty) with the same proficiency as if you had level three in axe-fighting skill. The same applies also for non-combat skills - an excellent diplomat will be good in haggling etc. There are of course certain limitations such as separate elemental magic schools. And as long as you don´t try to beat up someone with a crossbow, your numerous sword-fighting lessons won´t help you at all by shooting.

.

Perks will be a specific bonuses and will be also acquirable by spending the general level-up points. But that wouldn´t be enough as each perk has it´s skill, attribute and/or other perk requirements, which must be fulfilled before investing your skill points in its acquisition. Only a swordsman with slashing weapons skill on a certain level will be able to gain an "active counter-attack defence" perk, which will grant him an "ace in his sleeve" in a form of an extra "counter-attack" action at the beginning of each combat.

.

We´d gladly hear your opinions on the system we´ve decided to adopt. Are you fans of one pool of points to distribute among all values or do you prefer a preset amount of attribute-, skill- and perk points? There´s still time for improvements and changes so if you have some serious counter-arguments, then don´t hesitate to share them with us.

.

As a last point of this update comes the reminder about our PayPal account, where we still continue in a pursuit of KS stretch-goals levels. Some of you have sent us already generous donations and for that you have our undying heartfelt thanks and a promise of doing our best to bring you a game that you deserve. For all you others, who have some few bucks in your trouser-pockets and don´t know what to do with them, we´ve placed our PP account link at our website. Thank you in advance for any kind of support.

.

And that´ll be all for now. Keep an eye out for the next updates which are sure to come during the summer months.

Yours TEAM 21

That looks incredible. I try not to be too hopeful with promising kickstarter projects but this one has a lot of great things going for it.
Eye-candy graphics are only going to matter if they implement good exploration underneath it - that with the turn-based combat could be a great recipe for :incline:.
