I had trouble finding custom armor sets for Oblivion. Mostly all I could find were retexures and high res versions or already existing sets. Got any recommendations?
Always loved this HD version of Morrowind style Daedric armor for Oblivion, complete with masks and everything. Here's an alternate version that makes all Daedric armor sets in Oblivion look like this.

IMO the most impressive (showcase wise) Oblivion/Skyrim mods are the ones that add custom armor sets. Some of those are ridiculously well done. The games are popular enough to sometimes attract very talented 3D artists.
Almost all of Bethesdas games seem to attract talented 3D artists. Even Fallout 4 had some incredibly talented artists making armor. Although what's impressed me most so far is the sheer amount of complexity the skyrim modding scene received programming wise. Between race menu, XPMSE and other things that work in conjunction with 3d modelling, they've done far more than Bethesda ever has with their games, especially in recent years.

Well truth to be told Skyrim SE is a p impressive face lift, wish they've done the same for Faggot 3/Faggot: New Faggot. The Faggot games were made during the depressing xbox 3 shitty era and as the result they have really low res textures and tons of excessive bloom to mask it.

I wasnt impressed by SE. Even with the same graphics they somehow managed to make the game run like dogshit.

the thing is, it's not just about graphics. or even not about graphics at all. i did quite a bit of texture modding on fallout 4 and you read everywhere it's important to make mipmaps and compress your textures. with my 970gtx i could just run completely uncompressed textures with no hit on my fps. only thing that was noticeable was the visual memory in use. i think it went as high as 3.5-3.7 max. no problem with 4gb dedicated video memory. i even built a building that was so wide the walls would disappear from one end looking at the other due to view distance limitations at max. now, where am i going with this? i read somewhere skyrim will take a hit in fps from things like skeletons. pretty sure there's a lot you can do badly with physics. plus the game required a huge unofficial skyrim patch everyone uses. the game was a buggy mess from the get go. i don't think bethesda took the time to fix anything. they just updated the engine with x64 support as quick and dirty as they could.

Which is one of the reasons why i'm not impressed. In fact, Skyrim SE has the same issue Fallout 4 has, incredibly poor optimization and poor quality control. But this has been a recurring trend with Bethesda for a while now. They seem to think their modders can fix all the issues theyve left behind.

How hard do you think it will be to become a """PAID CONTENT CREATOR"""

or will it all really be a bunch of Todd mods?
They were literally showcasing dwarven mudcrab retexture. And it was on their showcase of E3. They considered this to be one of the best representations of quality to show at E3. Suffice to say, the bar is really fucking low.
Well, you think they're gonna show off all the Witcher mods, hentai, or leveling systems that claim to fix their broken shit?
Leveling systems yes
I don't think Bethesda would feel safe exhibiting mechanics they can't comprehend, or spotlighting mods that draw attention to their own system's ineptitudes. (How embarrassing?)

Pete Hines says they don't just copy and paste their games like other developers, it's true. What they do is copy, paste, and THEN edit out small details that you liked in prior releases, thus like a college paper, make it new and unique. This Witcher 3 killer could take time men.

To me it seems to be significantly more stable and run smoother than Oldrim. Of course there aren't really any mods for SE anyway. Not that I play the game at all really.

Funny how you guys keep saying that, because on reddit etc everyone's saying the complete opposite, that is the SE runs really good with p much no CTD's, if you have the hardware for it.

I'm playing Oldrim atm, because mods (SkyUI) and well I don't have the hardware for the SE, anyway.

every once in a while you have to upgrade your toaster if you want to play last gen games. i see no problem there.

The problem is that the game itself might be like 5 or 8 gigs, and the rest is just used by textures.

what game?
bethesda = meshes + textures. i thought you knew that.
and they just started to milk the minecraft. my fallout 4 is 70gb. i have 5000 custom walls taking up 24gb. 5000 is by no means a big number if you need some diversity. and you desperately need diversity when there is no gameplay. and it's only walls. only 5000.
you still need roofs, furniture, paintings, working tv's with video players and virtual dvds. armors, vehicles, clothes, faces, bondage gear and since there's a precedent all kinds of plants, engines, turrets, robots, traps... i don't know, the list is getting long as it is even though i'm probably still missing a lot of stuff. but you see where this is going.

lul, the "game" is 5 or 8

Yeah. Which part exactly of a game would take that much without being related to video or audio?

Baldur's gate 2 with Tob is around 5gb....... just see how much content there is without graphics.

If a Bethesda game was that content heavy the game itself should be like 30gb

I really think melee combat needs to be overhauled it's just not fun. No dodge or roll, no earthquake attack, no whirlwind strike etc. the combat is better in real time with pause games. I know people really like first person perspective and I do to but if that's what's holding back a fun and fluid combat system then it needs reworked.

The world needs to feel more organic and natural, more forests that are dense. Seeing the mountain and being able to go there isn't enough anymore. If I see a boat on a shore I want to ride it. If I see a fishing pole I want to catch fish. I want there to be consequences again to being in rival factions. I don't want to be known as the worlds hero after the first quest, I don't want to kill epic monsters or meet kings at level 1.

Unfortunately Beth's target audience will disagree with you.

I want the next TES game to be set in the Summer Set Isles with the Thalmor being boss af and telling everybody what to do. Include as many allusions to fascism and national socialism as possible. Make the Altmer even more racist than Morrowind's Dunmer. Make TES Great Again!

There was an altmer in Ulfric's village who wanted to suck his cock, and spy papers you give the Blades ho imply they have some kind of way to control him. We could see a Stormcloak Altmer alliance against the Cyrocucks and negroes. Hopefully then they gas the lizards and spay the damn cats.

Really? I'm not sure who to trust on this. Person A says the SE runs better than vanilla and Person B says exactly the opposite. I'd like to upgrade SE if it is more stable, but my modded version of old Skyrim looks pretty nice anyway and runs fine as it is. Plus I'd hate to have to customize SE all over again.

Recently I went back and played Oblivion on PC for the first time and I've found that I've modded it quite a bit less than I ever did Skyrim. Really just fixing the level-up mechanic and the sillier parts of the level scaling and the game is fine enough. The culture in Cyrodiil is a bit lacking compared to Skyrim, but I can live with that.

I do worry, well accept as inevitable I should say, that the games will continue to get more and more simplified. No more skills in TES VI? Quite possible I think. I wish modern developers and audiences would recognize the benefits of limitations encouraging multiple playthroughs with vastly different types of characters.
