I enjoyed Tactics except for that damned burst fire bug. There doesn't seem to be any way of getting rid of it, either.

NEWS FLASH: Tactics' burst fire bug has been fixed. HOWEVER, that mean teh power of Big Gun is reduce quite a bit because your burst fire is no longer as wildly random as before.

IIRC, the BFB also get fixed in Fallout2. At least, the Fallout 1.5 Resurrection seems to fix it~

hey. i doing the prospector's quest at new reno right now and i could need some help from the experienced community

i have found the other prospector mike and now i'm supposed to get the c4 at the military base. i remember that he said something about 4 packages, but i have seen that it weights 50 pounds (which is more than half of that my char is able to transport). so i thought that the single package i found in hawthorne base you encounter might suffice, since i haven't found anything else there. but i cannot finish the quest when talking to mike, the dead prospector's wife or mr. wright. so i am assuming that i have to visit the other military base, which was mentioned in one of the computer logs to get all of that shit?

I have Tactics v1.27. The bug is definitely not fixed.

It is also definitely not fixed in Fallout 2. Miss your target and someone else gets shot with 100% accuracy if he is behind the guy. Doesn't have to be burst fire either.

No, you have everything you need with the C4. I think there might also be some military supplies—another heavy item separate from the explosives—at Hawthorne. Make sure you have the right one.

I can think of two possible issues. Either you haven’t explored the correct conversation options with Mr. Wright, or you might need to progress further in the uranium mine quest for Wright before you can hand it over.

no no, of course patch 1.27 has not fixed it. It's waaaay old after all. Do try Redux mod or its derivative Equilibrium. They make quite a few minor changes to the game aside the fixes.

And of course F2's official patch or older bugfix doesnt fix it. try something newer.

I looked at Redux. I am not sure if I like the changes the guy made. As he said, he did it for his own amusement and those were the changes he wanted, which I can understand. He seems to have made things pretty psychotic at the higher levels, which is a massive problem for someone who likes to play Tough Guy mode. It is bad enough when dealing with multiple M2 wielding mutants. Dealing with them when they have 200+% in Big Guns would be insane.

I have the latest RP mod for F2. It doesn't fix the bug.

In that case, I withdraw my statement about Fallout 2's bug fire. It's totally possible that I misremember after all. But FTBOS was finished (again) just months ago so I can vouch for its state. Redux is a mod, ie the game was changed according to modder's vision. It depends on whether you like that vision, is all.
If you dont like Redux, it's possible that you will like Equilibrium. This guy doesnt like much of Endocore's Redux's vision, so he based his mod on Redux, but change back a few things. Again, it also depend on whether you like his changes. They are both mods, not patches.

As for Supermutants with M2, the method is using the APC to reduce damage, AND sniper duel at extreme range, ie they can not shoot back (so that we can have some ammo as loot). If they move into range, have the APC backtracked. This method is slightly economical regarding DU ammo.
OR. you can have some specialist with BG, drugged to the eyebrows, sneak to their backs and burst fire first. This method is risky and DU ammo dependant.

Yes. When I can, I sneak up to them and hose them down with 6 people with Jackhammers and CAWS on full auto. If you can get to within 5-8 range, it is more than enough to kill any mutant. In fact, 2 Jackhammers on full auto is more than enough for just about any mutant.

The problem with a sniper duel with them is that you won't get more than about 25% chance to hit before running into their range. The mutants hose people down at the full 45 range of the M2, relying on the BFB to kill their enemies (which makes me believe that it isn't a bug but a pro-AI feature; there is no way they are any accurate at a range of 45 when their weapon has a max range of 45) and the sniper rifle only outranges it by 5. It takes quite a bit of time to take out mutants with a sniper rifle, but that is really the only way to pass the mutant missions without significant casualties. Taking out 5 mutants in Osceola, which is the most sniper friendly mutant map, took me more than 110 shots (my standard 7.62mm loadout on mission start).

great. thanks for clarifying. you are probably right that i have to advance in his questline before i can talk to him about the explosives. i have no other dialogue option at the moment.

btw this game is great. enjoying it even more than the other tc, fallout 1.5. translation is still far from perfect though.

Redux and Equilibrium changed in that regard: you get M2 ammo way earlier. The best sniper gun can chamber those bullets so you have tools.
Of course, the enemies are also way tougher.

If you steal around, or get special encounters, you can get laser rifles with the very best range. A top Energy sniper can deal awesome damage with those.

Oh finally, I get to use the Barrett .5. About damned time a game actually let me use that.

another question about Thomson's quest concerning mordino in new reno

is it possible to solve his quest without having to kidnap mordino's family?

I remember that with enough speech, there was a way to pull it off by a combination of lies and bluffing. There might also have been a couple of lockpick and stealth checks necessary, but I don't remember too well.

is it possible that it involved talking to the two thugs that are standing in front of patrick's "apartment"? i thought about that since one the bodyguards says that he wants to talk to a person he knows, and since they are pretty much factionless there aren't much else people around. unfortunately i cannot verify this hypothesis since i killed them when they tried to rob me.

No, those two are irrelevant to that quest. Seems like you gotta do some more poking around to get the info.
I don't recall who exactly told you where they were located, but if you want to know:
it's in a hatch that leads to a basement somewhere in that building on the south sector where the repair guy lives. Once you know they are there, you can approach Mordino telling him you know where they're located.
Beware though, it's an enclosed room with five bodyguards down there. You may talk to them, but if you fuck up they'll turn hostile.

thanks, finding them is not the problem tho, you get the info from

the boy at the restaurant. and killing them is not so hard too, at least with burst shots from my smg. but all this still leads me to the point where i HAVE to kidnap his family. i tried talking to mordino after killing his bodyguards and without handing his family to Thomson, but there is still no dialogue option to convince him. i would prefer a less dickish solution to this situation. i also tried upgrading my barter, speech, intelligence, charisma without any success.

but anyway, maybe there isn't any other solution. it's just interesting that you char himself says "i wonder if there was any other possibility to solve this" after coming for your reward to thomson.

quest design in this game is still awesome. i love it. i haven't played a fallout game that made so much use of the game mechanics.

I'm pretty sure I did solve it that way, without performing the "act of delinquency". Wish I hadn't deleted the folder after finishing the game though, could have checked the save files.
Perhaps you could try asking the nerds at NMA.

just finished, couldn't stop playing the last few days.

- a hell lot of high quality content, i would say i it's even longer than fallout 2, but for comparison i never finished f2 since i got bored when arriving in san francisco - this was not the case in this game at all. i did salt lake city last and enjoyed every minute
- very nice quest design, many things aren't that obvious which is not a bad thing at all (there might be at least one quest in new reno were the solution was too dubios though, thompsons second assignment), there isn't a single skill in this game that is useless (apart from weapon skills you didn't use of course)
- very enthralling plot. it just lacks more memorable characters like frank horrigan or the master. some things like holodiscs and one character in vegas weren't translated yet, but they are not essential to any quest (edit: was a bit wrong on that one, at least one holodisc and this particular char are involved in quests, but let's put it this way: it's not necessary to understand what's going on).
- while in any other fallout you will probably end up with 100+ stimpaks you will hardly have more than 30 here. ressources in general are very scarce. and your vehicle is ridicously expensive. i loved it.
- it's not like in fallout 1 where you just have to visit the gun runners and take a plasma rifle or a combat armor out of a wardrobe and neither is it possible to buy high end equipment from shopkeepers. there are very few occasions before the last few areas.

awesome game. didn't have so much fun in a long time.

Hey, I have a few questions about quests in Fallout: Nevada, maybe someone could help me:
-how to solve Thompson's quest about the street shooting? I asked the dealer and that woman-pimp nead Wright's home and the track ends there.
-where can I find the codecard to the door at the end of the bunker?

1 Use repair on the flickering street lamp near the scene of the crime to retrieve the bullet then go to the logical vantage point after that.
2 IIRC you need the metal detector to locate the key within the bunker's control room

Thank you so much! I wasn't expecting such a quick response. I'm surprised, I've been inspecting the lamp and didn't find anything suspicious. Too bad that creators didn't put some extra description upon inspecting the lamp so it would be easier to determine there's something to look for in it.

Excuse me once again (and sorry for double posting, the post above is too old for me to delete it manually), I seem to be too stupid for this quest. I've found pieces of the bullet, tried to talk to everyone, went to casino and upstairs, tried to get on the top, blocked floor, however nothing works. Any more tips?

There's several-stories building not too far away from the scene which features a conspicuously placed balcony. There was someone also, either the kid that got shot or the hookers, that would tell you from which direction the shots came from, so pay attention to that.

Tried getting this shit to work... ffs.

So the intros and shit aren't translated at all? Kind of a bummer, the intro text and the year date and city date is not translated either for me.

And why is my game running so slow, anybody have a problem with that? It's the SFALL thing making my game run really choppy. how to fix? :(
