Fallout New Vegas: worth it?

It's a damn good game. First played it on the PS3. I thought I'd be in god-mode during vats like Fallout: 3. I went into that prison and started throwing grenades thinking I could empty it out with vats. After the first grenade exploded, I lost a lot of my health, and while the character was arching his arm to throw another grenade, a fucking Powder Ganger cuts off my damn arm with a cleaver.
