“They are apparently only waiting for the Empire to collapse in Civil War or some other crisis. We’d certainly need a Hortator then – if we had one, maybe they could travel to Akaviri before the invasion and weaken or stop it,”
This line occurs nowhere in Morrowind, probably some mod shit.
Isn't there some rumour in Oblivion that the Nerevarine went to Akavir?
Anyway, going to Akavir would be cool, but I think they'll explore the other provinces first. And make them boring in the process.
I still like the Elder Scrolls setting. Maybe I should look into the Unofficial Elder Scrolls RPG and get some people to play with...

Is it just me or do I remember TES IV : Oblivion being "announced" way before Morrowind was out ? I distinctly remember while we were all waiting for Morrowind that "TES IV : Oblivion" was known at least as a title, maybe even before the first Morrowind screenshots were out. That would mean that back then, at least, they had a long term view of the story.

They'll remove stats in the next game, or strangely simplify the stats even more (how is that possible?).

Bethesda still releasing Skyrim on every platform available, seven years on (Nintendo Switch most recent) makes it seem they regard Skyrim as their "creative peak" regarding TES - next instalment is probably years off.

TSO has also killed any potential mystery regarding unvisited locations in Tamriel - a 6th game will likely take place on another continent.

Not like TES has mattered since Morrowind anyway, all the best writers/designers left.

The Bretons seem to be pretty quiet. I wonder what the sneaky mages are up to?

How popular is Skyrim in Japan? I bet with Akavir they could try for the ant people audience. You know, bring the gameplay more in line with JRPGs by removing dialogue options and level up choices.

ESO has more dialogue choices than Skyrim.

More like their technical peak. I think even Bethesda realizes they can't keep making new games using an engine that is so hopelessly primitive and outdated.

What if the next ES pulls a Rion and the big bad(s) make the big reveal, "You had no place in this story. You come from nothing. You're nothing, but not to me. Join me, [I have a janitor position opening]."

I don't think so. I have a vague memory of the name being registered between the release of Tribunal and Bloodmoon, though. It was not announced but some diehard fans dug it up. A lot of people thought it would be a spinoff like battlespire or redguard.

edit: and yeah there was that line in Tribunal which referenced the plot to Oblivion. (of course it was changed significantly since they also mentioned doppelgangers which never came to anything)

LEAVE AKAVIR ALONE!!!! :negative:

This being nuBeth, you just know they are going to fuck it up by having the entire "continent" be the size of one of Tamriel's theme park sized "provinces". Not to mention completely ruin all the mystery build up about Nirn's other unexplored continents with shit lore and generic environments

I can only hope that with the recent flood of open world games the mainstream will finally stop being so easily impressed with "cities" bustling with 10 NPCs, that are all a few mins ride away from each other, when compared to something like, say, Novigrad.

Akavir isn't mysterious, its based on one of the Standard Video Game Settings - old timey Japan.

If Bethesda sets a game in Akavir, the one after that will be in Tamriel's World War II.

Yeah. Akavir isn't mysterious because its necessarily weirder than Vvardenfell. Its mysterious because few have been and survived to tell of it.

Honestly, the place sounds lamer than Tamriel. I don't like furries.
