Haven't seen a thread around for this one.

All we got so far is the trailer

While I can't help but snicker at that strawberry juice blood and skydiving with a baseball cap on,
I have to say, it left me with a decent impression. Then I remembered, it's ubi, so It'll probably be shit.
Or, best case scenario, worth a pirate 6 months post-release when they're done with the paid beta tests.

Anyhoo, I must confessed I rather enjoyed the previous Ghost Recon; decline as it was, I was very pleased with the gunporn, the audio banter gave a decent impression of actually having squadmates around, and I enjoyed the challenges.

Now, if all the above are left unfucked, and they slap a working hiking sim on top of that, color me interested.

Arguably, going back to the sandbox approach was what the series needed.

EDIT: So, calling it Derp Recon is so last year? Sorry, I didn't get the memo.

I wouldn't get your hopes up, unless you have reasonably high degree of tolerance for Ubisoft's open world games. Because, I expect that's what you'll be getting here: FC 3/4, only this time with squadmates to command, or a possibility to play through campaign in co-op if you so desire.

Dunno, I quite liked Far Cry 3 with a bunch of mods slapped in. The writing was derp, the characters were retarded, and I had no words for fightin the big ink demon,
but the sandbox I can stand. I also quite liked Black Flag, possibly the least annoying of the Assbandit Creed series.

I'll reserve judgement untill I see how the actual sandbox is implemented. Squad controls will possibly be a deal-breaker, and so will be the vehicles.
I fear they might fuck this all up with heavy scripting.

Looks a lot like their other new tom calansy game, forgot the name but it seems the same concept on a PA scenario.

The saddest thing about all these Ubisoft sandbox games is that all the fucking objectives are so small, or otherwise they are just linear setpieces filled with scripts. TACKLE IT YOUR WAY IN OUR MASSIVE OPEN WORLD. Except everything you can tackle your own way is just one fucking house surrounded by absolutely nothing. There's no complex infiltration, just a bunch of individual houses surrounded by a couple of vantage points.

I for one love trekking across a vast expanse of boring, pointless game world to pop one or two moles and then trek all the way back x 40 hrs.

Fuck Ubisoft.

The reason why most of these action sandboxes nowadays are so bad it's because none of then actually do anything good (specially to apeal to casual gamers).

The action is shit, because of the weak enemy AI, unbalenced gunplay, and the fact you can take 50 bullets in your face before your health reach half and only thing you need to do then it's press the magic insta-heal awesome button or just wait some 5 seconds for the health regen starts recuvering it. Wich takes away the adreneline and tension action games should have.

The sneaking is shit because again the AI is fucking retarded, they can only see you if you are 5 meters in front of then in broad light, and can't hear even if you are running just beyhond them. Wich take away the fear and carefullness player should have in a sneaking game.

The world may be big, but it's empty as fuck, with really bad level design, exploration and shitty point's of interest. And the missions and side missions (side missins specially) are ALL THE SAME. And considering this is a Ubisoft game the exploration is just a check list of collectibles. And even though they come with the "you can aproach your target's multiple ways" it's bullshit because it's only the sneaking path or kill them all path, no 3rd way that requires the player to think, nooooo, that's too hard, and the 2 other paths ,because of the reasons above, completly suck.

Wich for me is awfully sad because sandboxes (the good ones) are my favourite type of single player game. And it's sad for me to see that in this times where big sandboxes seen to be one of the most targeted type of games, they do then so goddamn bad.
