From the part I played, ncps are way more perceptive to you sneaking up from behind now. You have to really time it properly to hit them in the back before they turn around and shoot you.

Wait, batons to the head don't incapacitate but batons to the torso do?

This statement is correct. If behind the NPC and aiming for the torso you get a 12x multiplier. Same for the head and it is 8x I believe. Another thing I didn't get around to directly fixing but the base baton damage is significantly increased anyway in GMDX (as it is for all melee weapons in GMDX except the Dragon's Tooth), so it should work to the back of the head for all unarmored NPCs anyway.

I'm uploading the right version of the video now. My comments so far:

I started with Master Stealth for a few minutes. The stealth overhauls are nice, but I don't feel Stealth skill being worth it to master. I switched to a new game with Master Low-Tech and did much better, however I switched from baton to crowbar because I noticed I was having a lot of troubles trying to incapacitate with the baton from behind (which got me killed a lot of times). At least with the crowbar all you need is 1 hit for them to bleed out and run away

The throwing knives do 40 damage (!!) on Master levels.

I like the arm augments being passive. I decided to go with the throw strength augment.

I think demolition is pretty much needed now. I couldn't even crouch to the gas grenade traps to disarm it in time.

Yeah, with no demolition, it's hard to make it even when running imo.

I don't remember if there's another way to deal with grenades.

I was having a lot of troubles trying to incapacitate with the baton from behind (which got me killed a lot of times).

There are no inconsistencies, you just have to be immediately behind them and aim for the torso. All the same as it was vanilla.

The throwing knives do 40 damage (!!) on Master levels.

60 with combat strength max level in addition to master low-tech.

I think demolition is pretty much needed now. I couldn't even crouch to the gas grenade traps to disarm it in time.

Needed in what sense? If you are a highly skilled player you can disable most grenades at untrained. I say most because I've put them in tricky places considering the fact they can be disabled at untrained. Alternatively you can shoot them, disable them with EMP grenades/spy drone, find another route and so on. It was difficult designing that skill to be worth a damn, but I got there in the end after giving it many improvements (increased blast radius, concussive gas grenades at master and so on).

Played through Battery Park just now. A few things to note:

-The supply box I grabbed that was inside Castle Clinton stacked atop the metal crate disappeared in my hands and spammed my message log with not being able to drop it.
-Throwing knives are awesome. I hope there's enough to last me throughout the game.
-Killing people with cardboard boxes. Can't wait to get upgrades for my arm.
-Medicine level 1 doubled the amount of HP you get from medkits. That's so fucking useful and it makes me wonder how much I get from higher levels.
-Gibs are a serious performance hit. Thankfully they disappear.

Just you wait 'till version 7. They are now double as awesome.

-Medicine level 1 doubled the amount of HP you get from medkits. That's so fucking useful and it makes me wonder how much I get from higher levels.

This is the same as vanilla. What GMDX does to medicine skill is gives you +10 Max HP to head & torso each level as well
.
-Gibs are a serious performance hit. Thankfully they disappear.

You on a fairly old comp? Find the renderer settings in DeusEx.ini found in myDocuments\DeusEx\System and set Precache=True. No performance hits.

I come bearing more incline:

v7 changelog in progress:

Bold = Steep incline.

-Improved Explosion effects once again: screen shakes if in close proximity, explosion fragmentation gives off smoke trails & light, variation of debris spawned & improved explosion sprites themselves.
-Fixed the plot conflict of the commercial-grade security bots having stealth technology (cloak). Only the advanced model MJ12 uses has this now.
-Increased the size of all shell casing types.
-Improved throwing knifes significantly more.
-If upgrading Environmental Training skill Tech googles now stack in the inventory & last longer based on skill level too.
-Increased greasel attack rate.
-GEP Gun Scope remote control no longer automatically deactivates after the rocket is destroyed and remote controlled rockets move slower so they are easier to control.
-Various light fixtures & Hanging animal carcasses are highlighted when targeted as most other decoration types are.
-New right click interactivity for Hanging Pig, Hanging Chicken & TAD object types, which previously had no right click-triggered interactivity.
-New interactive objects in general (only Rock & Log so far)
-Text for books, datacubes and other readables scaled up so is easy to read at higher resolutions.
-At low-tech trained both throwing knifes and darts are easier to see in flight, and improved the in-flight effect (no more light).
-Hardcore mode just got more hardcore: save points now require 100 credits to use. The result is Risk vs Reward design is significantly enhanced and credits have more purpose.
-Pickups no longer break to gas grenade explosions, and flares cannot be ignited by striking them with a baton.
-Optimized gore to be less performance-intensive.
-Unused textures for cigarettes, candy bars and soda cans are now used.
-Thrown corpses now produce sound upon impact, and this sound alerts neaby NPCs too.
-NPC death screams now alert neaby NPCs (just a few feet for gameplay balancing).
-If holding a carcass or TNT crate friendly NPCs may get frightened or attack.
-Increased the translucency of carried decoration even more so.
-simulated jumping & landing camera/FPP view model effects are less intense if holding pickups or a carcass, and also toned down fliching effect a touch.
-Refined the behaviour of the other new camera/FPP view model effects introduced in GMDX.
-Robots emit sparks if health is low.
-Multitools can now be used to hack devices at a distance. Range increases further based on multitools skill.
-Sped up tracers a little more.
-Decreased the collision radius of rats so they do not float over edges.
-Added variation to facial features of the NSF, MJ12 and Rooks gang.
-Cut down on the number of smoke-emitting objects spawned when an object is blown up as the particles can be resource-intensive.
-Improved Plasma Rifle effects further
-Cloaked enemies are now harder to see.
-Gave FireExtinguisher a more appropriate spray sound.
-Added the improved gore for the mechs that explode on death, which were special cases.
-Weapons no longer spawn silent bullet casings if it has a silencer on.
-Increased AI reaction times a little more.
-Anna Navarre cloaks earlier.
-Increased environmental electricity damage a touch (spider bot attack values are already fine).
-Melee attacks now draw damage decals when striking level geometry, decal type dependant on texture group (if stone, crack. if metal, dent etc).
-Set cage light back to invincible for a number of reasons.
-Poisoned augmented MiB's play a unique pain sound.
-Flesh Fragments are less bouncy
-added a new MiB to the game that has different augmentations.
-Increased the duration of camera confusion after being hit by EMP
-Cameras take less time to spot the player (-2 seconds).
-Stealth skill level 2 sets camera alarm trigger timer back to vanilla levels instead of reducing footstep sounds now that run silent is no longer redundant.
-New accessible inventory shortcuts: right click an item in the inventory to use or equip. Middle mouse to drop.
-The PS20 is now three times as deadly (same damage as a plasma rifle shot).
-UMP & Sawed-off have some new sounds

Right, that's that fucking Battery park non-lethal bug fixed for good.

I'll get a video out of some of this stuff above soon.

Except if positioning of hackable items was done based on map layout and enemy patrol routes, taking the fixed multitool range into account.

Or, in other words, if they thought about it.

Wouldn't making the multi tool ranged make the game easier?

First, my reasoning for this change in another thread: http://www.rpgcodex.net/forums/index.php?threads/vague-unrealscript-problem.95597/

Why: Lockpick & multitools cost the same, there are the same number of these tools across the game on average, and roughly the same number of hack/pickable devices too. However, multitools are slightly less worthy of investment due to the fact that by the time you are in reach of a camera, turret, alarm unit etc, you have usually overcome the threat they present (you are out of the turret or cameras FOV, you've cleaned out the place before reaching the alarm unit etc) so by making multitools a ranged tool balance will be achieved and infiltration would be more interesting, plus multitools are already wireless anyhow.

I could elaborate more, but you're going to just have to have faith. My vision is augmented, I know what I am doing, I cannot stress this more.

CyberP I completely disagree, and I think you have modders-syndrome. The desire to change everything, because you can.

The threat represented by hackable objects and locked objects is inherently different- the scenario you presented in your quoted post is based on a certain play-style that revolves around the clearing of areas of hostiles. I'm trying to alert you to a common modder problem: making the game easier. DE doesn't need to be easier, so please think about all your changes in the context of how they will affect playthroughs that don't involved just your style, but others which exist.

But to specifically answer your question: yes, it will make the game easier in this respect, but only if you upgrade the multitool skill first. Same as all the other skills, they all make the game easier. However, you're not considering all the improvements to security systems; ranged multitools is the counter in regards to difficulty. They are also the balance redeemer, and the final piece of the skill system design puzzle.

"you're not considering all the improvements to security systems"

Such as but not limited to security cameras taking less time to spot the player.
Security cameras spot corpses and sound an alarm.
security cameras have increased view range.
Turrets have increased attack range.
More security systems in the game in general.
AI are sometimes set to trigger alarms immediately upon spotting the player, and sometimes these alarms trigger special events, such as the release of robots from their bays as one example.
And so on...

So you've balanced the upgraded multitool against upgraded cameras.. do you think you've netted a gain, or what? Was this an area that needed improving, or you've improved because you've developed a mastery of modding DE?

I like a lot of the things you've implemented (on paper), but restraint is just as important in modding as innovation. I'm worried you've gone to the deep end and are modding for modding's sake.

Gah, the uniformed feedback presenter.
I emplore you to trust me and just download it, it is free after all. I will kick your ass, or my design will rather. Challenge is very important to me.
I am very open to feedback, but it ideally requires you experience the mod and all it's systems to give a valued opinion.

I'm worried you've gone to the deep end and are modding for modding's sake.

I've wanted ranged multitools for a while. As I said, it is the final piece of the skill system design puzzle.

Cameras are a pain in this ass, especially in the current build I am working on with the reduced alarm trigger time. Ranged multitools, if the player opts for it, will be empowerment they will not regret.

So you're buffing a system to compensate for a buffed system? This is what I'm saying, you need restraint, not just turning everything up to 11. That ends in muchkin-land.
