Lol @calling Far Cry 2 AI "retards" and complaining about capable enemies shooting back at you with decent accuracy. I guess Ubisoft heard you and made the AI in Far Cry 3 stupidly oblivious, just for you.

Hey now, at least Farcry 3 is fun unlike stupid shit like Oblivion.

Miasmata is probably closest to a survival game in recent years, although there's no stuff like hunting or a very elaborate resource management.
Rather you are infected by some illness and put on an island with the goal to cure yourself, which depends on finding clues about the cure and mixing various concoctions by gathering plants. Those can be used to keep your health under control, additional you have to watch your hydration a bit.
The game comes with some triangulation mechanic that allows you to map out the island by using points of reference to locate your current position.
Also the whole time you are stalked by some panther-like animal.

Stalker is an very atmospheric shooter with some horror, sci-fi and survival elements, but the actual survival part is not that important in the game (there might be mods that change it, though). You mostly need to manage ammo and eat food from time to time, but you will find enough of both on enemies for not having to actually worry about it that much.

Cataclysm: dda is pretty awesome. Once you learn the most efficient ways to get food and resources it gets a lot easier. But then again, you can start out as an alcoholic programmer with low strength and dexterity and make it nearly fucking impossible anyways.

My only real complaint is how sharply the difficulty drops off after you've secured a vehicle. They need to put in some really nasty enemies that can tear apart an armored van and burn down your stash of food.

Searching for my kidnapped sister
Unreal World.

You larping a neanderthal or some such, playing in the late bronze age, early iron age, ie rare iron works, popular bronze tools, but mostly make stone stuff and wooden stuffs.

The challenge, of course is just to survive. Make a house, make enough foods to last a year, grow some plants, gather tools and weapons...

The game is actively trying to kill you. Other than the usual wildlife, there's an eastern slaver invasion. Your permanent settlement should get an encirclement of 4-6 hostiles camp over one year,5-10 hostiles each.

So, what to do:
- Hunt and make one year's store of game meats, dried or smoked.
- Make a log house, at least 5*5, if not bigger.
- Plant a big ass field of crops. THis is one feature I powergame like mad and broke the game. Not sure if the latest version has fixed that. Basically, if you plant half a normal map, ie it load, the game will wipe it off clean. Or more precisely, more than 1000 crop-plant.
- Collect a full set of bronze tools and iron weapons/armors.
- Clean EVERY hostile camps around your settlement. My favourite is to make them into trapping field, ie making a complete fence surround that hostile camp map to trap animals. Or use them as crop field. But not both.
Take about 10-13 game month.
