Cannot see anything negative about those points except for pathfinding. Not interested in another StarCraft II or Supreme Commander. But perhaps the game is too expensive, judging the content.

Hmm. To get it or not... Kinda feel like kicking ass in an RTS, and here would be easy chance to get to top level in a game with just playing random shit... But time would be needed... Hmm

I'm not paying much because I got a voucher for Christmas and this is basically the only thing that interests me. But I can understand when people find this to expensive.

Played the first two missions. Game is good so far. I really like the UI. Performance is terrible, on my i5-3750k@4GHz + radeon 270x I drop to like 5FPS while stuff happens.

Now completed third mission on a razors edge. The AI seems to be pretty decent, actively searching for weakenesses in your strategy (unit composition, badly defended attack surfaces).

Pathfinder: Wrath I'm very into cock and ball torture I helped put crap in Monomyth
Played 5 missions so far.
Campaign has proper challenge, a story (that is not groundbreaking but doesn't totally suck either), animated sequenced in-between (not SC2 level of beauty, of course).
The controls are good (though I did not play as the Goo yet).

So far, I would give my recommendation at 25$.
More if you are a sucker for those campaigns like I am ;)

If it's $30 I'll get it straight without 2nd thought. Think I'll wait for the 50%. There's Grim Dawn I wanna get first.

Played 5 missions so far.
Campaign has proper challenge, a story (that is not groundbreaking but doesn't totally suck either), animated sequenced in-between (not SC2 level of beauty, of course).

I set everything to maximum and the performance is great.

Then again, my specs are:
Intel i7 4790 3.60Ghz x 8
16GB RAM
GeForxe GTX970 (12GB)
Win 8.1

So.... there just is no game that makes this rig sweat, yet.
I honestly couldn't tell if the game was poorly optimized, if that was your question.

I did have one crash so far, while loading a game.
And sometimes, playing the Beta, a unit bugs out and does not take its place mounting a wall or hand.

How's the unit variety for individual factions and between them?
From what I've seen in the campaign (and reviews) it seems that the variety within a faction is good, but all races have similar units (most likely due to rock-paper-scissors logic). Truly unique units are only the "superweapons".

For all races, you have your typical light units, tanks, artillery, stealth, anti-air, etc.

Though I have to say the RPS is not too extreme.
You can fight with sub-optimal counters. Just not that good ;)

Core units are a bit classic.

1 cannon fodder type, only good in numbers.
1 scout type.
1 medium tank type.
1 stealth detecter.

Differrences start after those. Beta have good artillery and "turret" units. Humans have good defence and laz0r artillery, railgun, their air force is good. Goos deal good damage and die quick but they produce really fast, also Goo don't have any air force or any buildings.
Real stuff comes from tech researches. Cannon fodders go "Allah-u Ekber" near death, AA guns start to attack ground units, scouts get stealth and etc.

I'm pretty satisfied with the game. Campaign is a bit short but missions are fun and challenging on hard, thanks to OK AI. Cutscenes between missions are entertaining. Also dem epic units, they change the tides of battle in seconds.

Edit: Not a new C&C, Red Alert or KNND but a really fucking good step in the right direction. More mission variety for campaigns, more unit types and with a better, smaller AI next game (or expansion) can become a classic.

Finished the Beta campaign and three missions of the Humans. Liked the latter much more so far.

I don't think the building system is needed at all, I don't know what's supposed to be the big benefit of it. It is unnecessarily complicated IMO but I guess I can get used to it. Sadly enough, all the buildings and units tend to look the same :/ I also think the upgrades are useless.

Refreshingly, the missions are not as easy as they usually are in modern RTS games but that's mostly because you do not really know how to play at the beginning.

BTW, performance issues are fixed by changing NVIDA into "high performance mode", somehow this is not done automatically.

I do not even get the C&C comparisons. It reminds me a little bit of KKND because of the harvesters and the game speed and of Earth 2160 because of the building system (albeit the game is much simpler). But C&C was a lot faster. Buildings were destroyed much quicker, way bigger armies,... whatever. It does NOT feel like C&C, unlike what people claim.

That is one of the bigger problems of this game.
Some units are impossible to tell apart in the heat of battle. While all races have this problem slightly, on the Human side it is really a serious design issue.

The upgrades are only partly useless. Some are very situational, indeed. Others you can always take and will always benefit from (like those that let anti-air shoot at ground).
But that is IMO a thing of multiplayer people to figure out.

That is the usual reason for difficulty in campaigns in these games.
Imagine the latter levels were actually so hard only pro players could win.
The rage that would yield!

Agreed. It also reminds me of Earth 2160.

One thing I don't like about the controls are the air units.
It is just impossible to keep them together and aligned somehow.
Since they require an air base of sort to return to, your air units will be all over the map. Some at their base, refilling. Some out in the field. Some at the base, not refilling... just... being there.
All your other army you can keep in one bulk, but not air. There should be some extra UI where you can see your air units.
Sure, you can use control groups, but I don't like that you HAVE to do that.

There are some games where I remember that "air units need to return to base" nonsense. I get the logic behind that, but managing air becomes needlessly complicated.

I've got to admit, I do like the Goo controls.

I thought you would be controlling one giant blob, but it is more a matter of controlling several medium-large blobs and keep them at the resource pools. Imagine having several mobile, identical main structures that serve as all-in-one buildings.
Which basically means having one of them sitting on top of each resource (at least that is the goal).

Also, is it just me or does the epic Goo unit take the longest to construct (even IF feeding) and is rather weak for that?
Basically, if you want that unit, you cannot produce an army at the same time. Which is something the other races can definitely do. Seems to be a balancing issue.

Also, I just can't beat the last mission.
Wtf? Even one enemy would be hard but here you fight two full on AND have to maintain control of hard to defend points with no defensive structures available? This mission was meant to be played with another faction, honestly.
You just can't hold positions as the Goo.
Even worse, I thought it would be a good idea to take out the defenders.
Well, yeah. Guess what, their super weapon still spawns, even if they have no more units on the map. IT IS RIDICULOUS. I liked the challenging campaign so far, but this is beyond challenging, it is simply too hard. I guess I won't even try reducing difficulty to normal and just go straight to easy, because I'm totally pissed at this.

GitGud ragequits lol:
