Wow.

https://twitter.com/Kojima_Pro_Live/status/578473094995542016

http://www.konami.jp/mgs5/

http://www.konami.jp/kojima_pro/japanese/ that site is dead and now redirects to konami site

KojiPro Los Angeles renamed Konami Los Angeles.

they even retroactively removed his name from box arts for his various games:

before http://web.archive.org/web/20141129121304/https://www.konami.com/mgs/

after:

his twitter log:

I guess he really meant it when he said this will be his last MGS this time.

Oh god, that's a joke right? I've never been a fan of the franchise anyways, but... who would hire that fuckup to be a director of anything? Seriously?

You mean chicken laying gold eggs.

IMO i think he got "bought" by one of the big 3. MS likes to spend unresonable amount of money so probably them

Or come to the realization they would never allow him to do anything beyond Metal Gear.

I recall some noise about Zone of Enders that end up being just noise but all his attempts to distance himself from Metal Gear have failed, perhaps he finally understood that he would never be allowed to be anything beside "Metal Gear guy" as long he remained at Konami.

he has some games under his belt that were fairly succesful but yes probably working 20 years on same franchise can do a lot of damage.
I think one of big 3 bought him with option to fund him whole studio and budget for 2-3 games.

Weirdest part is errasing his name from every game and so on. Imo i think either it was Kojima condition or Konami and Kojima had a fight.

A fallout between Kojima Productions and its owning publisher, Konami, has led to senior staff at the studio being restricted access to corporate internet, emails, and phone, GameSpot understands.

Along with the restricted communications, key developers at the studio, such as Hideo Kojima, will now have limited opportunities to lend their appearance to promotions of the studio’s upcoming game, Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain. Power struggles between Kojima Productions and Konami have led the publisher to make drastic changes, including the employee status of its Metal Gear team. Some senior staff at the studio, including Kojima, now essentially work as contractors, not permanent employees.

The extraordinary measures were revealed by a source within the studio, speaking to GameSpot on the condition of anonymity. The person explained that, once the Phantom Pain project is finished, in all likelihood the management at the studio will disband.

"After we finish MGSV, Mr. Kojima and upper management will leave Konami. They said their contract ends in December," the source claimed.

The person added: "At a team meeting, Mr Kojima explained that team have to be one and make a good game for fans."

Not sure what Konami was trying to achieve with this.

I hope for that small chance that this might get Konami to try to bring some of their other games back, Suikoden please.

Konami is so fucked. The rabid fanbase of Kojima will tear them a new one.

As for Kojima. :salute: Thanks for the great games, you go out with a bang (assuming MGS5 will be as good as it looks.)

On a related note, main developers behind the handheld console hit Love Plus departed Konami few days ago. Seems like Konami is downscaling expensive console game business, and focusing on low-budget and efficient (easy-to-recycle) projects like Pro Evolution Soccer instead.

That's great news actually. MGS has done its circle and it was obvious Kojima was sick of it. Now this bloated franchise will eventually die and Kojima will have the opportunity to finally do something new.

Damn. That feel when:

- No chance of any new games at all featuring solid snake, not even an interquel between MGS1 and 2.
- No chance of a truly proper remake of MG1/2 or MGS1.
- No real future at all for Metal Gear.

All that's left is Metal Gear Rising 2, probably with no input from Kojima.

Damn men.

I didn't want to feel these feels.
