Daggerfall's intro is as powerful as it is because of limitations: They realized that by setting the scene at night by a single torch like that they could just skip building a set and props and not have to hire actors for anyone but the emperor and silent torch bearer (who is the he supposed to be lore wise?).

Time to bump this a bit: The NuNeed for Speed is heavily using real actors and blending them with the engine graphics.

I don't see live action 'blended' with the engine graphics there. What you describe was very well done in Alan Wake:

EA stated, that they'll blend in your current car with the live action videos of the campaign. In the trailer, it was a bit lame, because the car was on its own, without the mechanic girl, yes.

I think, that the background here is from their live action video, not sure though.

I also welcome more FMV in my games.

Command and Conquer would be a lot more boring without them, for example.

I almost want to play the NuNeed...

Contradiction at least tries. But Her Story is just a bad Night Trap ripoff (and Night Trap wasn't any good to begin with).
