Wife and children on vacation for the entire week. Ill be home alone and want some scares to test manhood. Throw at me games to be played on 50" tv in total dark apartment with subwoofer sound.

Im already replaying Stalker for the underground labs scare, and Im thinking getting Alien Isolation on steam but not sure. What do you reccomend ?

But THERE IS A CATCH: games must have minimum substance. Dont throw cheap scares shit at me. Throw me things with good/involving plots, or nice art direction, good setting, etc. Dont want "horror CoD".


P.S: alternativelly, just forget the scares and recommend some good porn you watched lately. Or good Hentai games. I love them.

Amnesia: The Dark Descent - Less scary but more disturbing character.

Alien Isolation is a good game, but it's not really very scary. Tense as fuck in the first half, but doesn't fill you with fear like Penumbra.

Dead Space is not too bad (the first one - others are shit).

Zarniwoop , I gave up on Amnesia once because the last stage was too horrific to me. Perhaps now is a good time to try it again. Why did you ignore Penumbra 3 ? Is it bad ? And Ill try Alien Isolation, thanks.

Darth Roxor , last time I tried Dark Corners of the Earth I found it interesting but slightly on the silly side (I think it was those ETs... they didnt look scary to me). But Ill reconsider it. Now this Betrayer looks good stuff. I didnt know it. Thanks.

Jap porn games are horrifying by nature if you are not in their fetishes. Prob is, they have shit gameplay (or are outright shit, like Demonophobia and its long forgotten LP here on the 'Dex) or are lazy and terrible VNs. There are some weird Jap things in RPGmaker (Corpse Party, Mad Father) but I don't know if you would find them "scary". the white chamber is not Jap, but also somewhat dark.

Penumbra 3 (Requiem) is too weird and mostly just a puzzle game. Don't know why they even made it.

But yeah Amnesia is p. horrific. Which is what makes it interesting.

The first FEAR is a very solid shooter, one of the last I've had truly fun in. Good AI, nice weapons. It has, however, horror trappings somewhat reminiscent of the past American infatuation for Japanese horror, like a The Ring-like apparition shadowing you (Alma) and standard massacres everywhere. There are often "scary" scripted sequences or outright unnerving enemies, but FEAR is mainly a good shooter. It has some questionable choices (partial regenerating health) and some weird gimmicks (Bullet time).

Do not fall for the somewhat unispired graphic design, it's not horror Cod. About the sequels, I have not touched them, so i can't say anything.

Ah! I almost forgot another suggestion. Siren, but it's for console.

EDIT: Nocturne. How could I forget Nocturne.

I was only scareds by Stalker on first playthrough.
If you want scares, I can recommend Minecraft. Beause Creepers.
As for porn, last one decent game I played was Harem Collector. Gameplay and graphics is standard RPGMaker shit, but writing is Rance-level. I hace posted some screenshots from it in Screenshots thread yesterday.

I have doubtful experience with FEAR 2&3 and they're slightly better in term of scare elemets. More tense, thicker atmosphere etc.
Just good things from FEAR1 become way worse (shooting and AI+rest)

"Five Nights At Freddy's" has many people scared these days, but it's just a combination of tension + jumpscares, so your call on that one.

"Knock Knock" might be more suitable. You have to keep the monsters out of your house by keeping the lights on.

And of course, my favourite..."Eversion".
