Codex 2014 Make the Codex Great Again! Grab the Codex by the pussy
Gave this a go recently. I've played this game before. It may have had a different name, a different graphical filter, maybe an inferior UI, but the truth is that Every. Single. Thing. in this game feels familiar to the point of tedium. There's nothing new on offer here to interest me. I gave up after a section where I had to assemble a key in three parts to activate a machine, only for the machine to be the latest boss requiring oh-so tired boss-fighting mechanics to beat.

Doubtless there are people that will enjoy this game, but it's not my cup of watered-out tea.

This definitely sounds like genre fatigue. Honestly I'm on the same boat, I can't play another Metroidvania for the life of me.

Does exploration feel unrewarding?

All I ever got out of that were crafting components, and due to the slow rate of crafting recipes being unlocked and their general "meh"-like nature (in fact one of them may act against you in solving a puzzle or two) I slowly lost interest in looking around that hard.
