I suggest the ticker be a paid to remove feature.

In that case make it as annoying as possible. Like 10x bigger, blinking neon lights and sound. Also make it a pop-up. A pop-up for every new tick.

The search box is hiding a portion of the ticker. Perhaps change the area of the ticker to where it doesn't start at the extreme right of the screen? Or lowering the ticker could work if it isn't a pain in the ass to do so...
