What is the point of playing even then?

It makes you do other quests to get more powerful which prevents retardation like becoming guild leader at level 5.

Edit: Seems PerMa is just a perk mod (but it adds perks/abilities to NPCs). So I still have to search for something to unlevel the gameworld...
Damn, and there I hoped this was an overhaul. ^^

Just use the relevant modules from SkyRe as the description recommends. It's the same author so even if PerMa had its own they wouldn't be mucn different.

Damnit, just wasted 6 hours searching for mods to complement PerMa. :deadhorse:
Hope it was worth it. So many shitty ideas out there, from people actually trying to bring class constraints at char gen back to lots of overpowered garbage.

SkyRe is not what I want btw, since it's too easy compared to Requiem and every element in the package is worse than other mods you can find out there. Requiem at least feels like everything fits together, while most other overhauls are just collections of copypasted smaller mods. Still, can't live with the missing flexibility and compatibility isuues any longer, Requiem has to go.

So, here's what I found:

for perks: Perkus Maximus, the SkyRe successor without the copypasted modules from other authors

deleveling + difficulty: ASIS encounter zones (didn't find anything else that's not part of a huge ass download ... other ideas anyone?), Deadly Dragons, High Level Enemies SIC edition (this is in part a level scaling mod for high level chars)

combat mods: Ultimate Combat, ASIS, Revenge of the Enemies, Faster get up animations, TK HitStop, maybe PerMa ... this is a mess, I have no clue what will overwrite what ^^

balancing game aspects that are shit: Scarcity x4, Trade and Barter, Complete Crafting Overhaul Remade, Alchemy and Food Balanced Overhaul, Lock Overhaul, wanted to install Morrowloot but then again it locks me out of crafting high tier equipment and PerMa isn't designed for that bullshit. Also fixed loot locations in an open world game is retarded, sorry but it's true, Morrowfags

werewolves and vampires: Better Vampires, Moonlight Tales, Heart of the Beast - Alpha Werewolf, A Matter of Time

fluff: Skyrim Immersive Creatures, Inconsequential NPCs, OBIS + OBIS Redone, Extended Encounters, Radiance, DFB Random Encounters, timescale 10 mod

convenience: Convenient Horses, Better Fast Travel, AFT, ACE - Build your own Game (finetune lots of values ingame), Live Another Life, Community Uncapper

stuff I'm not sure about: Better Standing Stones, That's Racist, Guard Dialogue Overhaul

And patches for PerMa, the unofficial patches, SkyUI, Quality maps, better yadayada controls etc. of course.

After building those annoying SkyProc patches my load order looks like this now (sorted with Loot, except for minor adjustments ... it's not like I know what I'm doing there):

I really hope these mods are worth it. Let's see how important balancing everything out really is.:balance:
Because this modded game right here is far from it.

Edit:
First observation before I go to bed: ASIS increased spawns and the random encounter mods seem to boost each other. Wolves, wolves everywhere!
:what:

Just realized again how much I hate Requiem perk descriptions. Is there any mod that translates the "immersive" gibberish into something helpful?
Ah yes.

Modders should definitely acknowledge their dump stats.
:hero:
Writing in this case.

Also the perk trees in general mostly are not that great. Too many passive effects, too much grinding with too few variation. And I don't like the idea of perks giving spells when you can learn these spells through normal means too. Seems like a passive bonus perk in disguise to me.
Eh, they're ok. Close in form to originals, but with big impact on gameplay.

As for getting spells, I consider it a welcome extra, plus it is close to how you could get spells in, for example, Wiz8.

Uninstalling it again. Just heard of this mod. Reads promising but so do most mods. Will have to try it out to see if gameplay variety is better than in Requiem.
Meh. Already got burned by SkyRe. A lot of retarded, abstract, gamist shit, completely changing shit for no reason (restoration, illusion), plus dim-witted scrubbery contradicting existing content (like limiting necromancy to humanoids only, nevermind random encounter with guy who can no longer raise wolves with necro staff because it ran out of charges, or that dude near Ivarstead who raised chicken).

Same author, probably same shit.

Sure, it's nice to have gazillion different melee weapon types with their appropriate specialization, but not if the rest of the package sucks.

Also fixed loot locations in an open world game is retarded, sorry but it's true, Morrowfags
We need a dynamic breadcrumb system, for there cannot be two skies.
:obviously:

Context VS lack of metagaming - which is better and why? Discuss!!

So you make goals yourself?
So, you play TES for quests and challenge?
First off i play without exploits that would be unreasonable. So no stealing, no alchemy stacking, no enchanting stacking. I try to keep moral character in accordance to what faction i am, and there in fact is a challenge if you play by such rules.
Now as for TES in general.
I play them for a lot of things, but without context to exploring it just feels pointless and boring.
I liked reading books in Morrowind, BUT only after i became relatively high ranking member of House so i would get to know more about the world.
I liked how i got more and more powerful BUT i liked the fact that it is recognized and integrated into the game. As i got quests to kill other nobles and not some low level bandits.
Sure, but the problem is that it's hard to avoid exploits because of how broken the mechanics is.

Built something akin to monk or vanilla acrobat? - oops, you'll probably be exploiting kludgy AI the moment you try to use your strengths in combat at which point it'll get stuck on random scenery. And so on.
Quests are also nothing to write home about in pretty much every TES. In Morrowind they had interesting high level structure and (often hidden) context - how they connected with each other and the world, but in terms of gameplay they were usually pretty meh. In other parts of the series it's usually worse.

Speaking of Morrowind here - personally I use quests as springboards to launch me in particular directions (and honestly, even Skyrim's quests would work here) giving me reason to go somewhere and explore particular part of gameworld, and combat as something to spice the exploration up as it's easy to make just about dangerous enough to be interesting, but hard to make it genuinely challenging, especially past early levels. I also explore different builds and tactics - which is rewarding if you don't just train everything to 100, but actually try to see what can you do with a given skillset - as well as as spellmaking.

Anyway, if you're after challenge, Requiem is probably your best bet in the entire series, the other being Daggerfall (I discount Arena as not-a-proper-TES :troll: ).

Master thief Nora had to learn it the hard way.
But after getting raped 30 times and 20 days spent in dungeons, she finally mastered the art of pickpocketing people while they're asleep.
Many guards in Riften awoke to find the content of their purses mysteriously disappeared and their quivers lacking a single arrow.
Worst still, they misplaced their swords.

Has Skyrim reached the "spend hours searching, downloading, installing mods only to play for 2 hours and give up" state of Oblivion yet?

Worse. Spend few days installing different mods to not even fire it up once.

Reading PerMe description... sounds really interesting. Too bad it's connected to same bland boring Skyrim gameworld.

I recently discovered this thread and decided to fire up Skyrim again. I started downloading dozens of mods recommended here and elsewhere, patches to some mods to make them work with other mods, changed fonts and stuff like that. Took me a lot of time. I started playing and... I gave up after three hours. There's nothing interesting to do in this game: no interesting NPCs (even with... Interesting NPCs mod installed), no interesting quests, no cool places to discover. I find it amazing because my first playthrough was around 150 hours. I must have been really bored back then.

Are there any standalone fan built "total conversions" for Skyrim? Something like, I don't know, Nehrim for Oblivion (haven't played that one either, is it good enough to install Oblivion? :D)?

I'm still in the modding phase right now.
Found some other stuff that I will try out, mostly quest mods:

Everything by ThirteenOranges looks neat. It's Steam Workshop only (because nexus moderators seem to be a bunch of nazis), but of course you can transform it all into a mod manager friendly package (subscribe, let it download, move the esp and bsa files and delete the mod in the launcher window (gives you a prompt where you can unsubscibe it again ... but you can as well just keep them subscribed and let LOOT handle the load order). The whole package consists of 11 mods, half quests, half small locations, everything looks lore friendly and not as inflated as those major quest mods that try to be main quest mods or whole games within the game. I like the way it's evenly distributed across the gameword.

Arthmoor made some very nice mods, many of them smaller stuff to improve Vanilla quests or atmosphere, but he also made this one.
Sounds beyond awesome and replaces all these abandoned little mods that restore unfinished Vanilla quests (like some quests in the College of Winterhold).

Immersive College of Winterhold looks very well made too and I have to pimp up the College anyway since I want to be a wizard.
I guess I'm making a huge mistake here but I can't resist to try out that Civil War Overhaul mod by that dumbfuck apollodown anymore. I bet it's broken as fuck but whatever. "Nur die Harten kommen in'n Garten" as a German proverb goes.
Red_baron.gif

other mods I added today:
Defluffing PerMa ("defluffs" the PerMa perk descriptions)
Localized Thieves Guild Jobs
Point the Way (more roadsigns) and Hold Border Banners
Paarthurnax Dilemma (dunno about that, never played the main quest long enough to see for myself if it's Bethesda or the audience who is retarded here)

Sweet dreams.

Lv 26 with 100 Pickpocket.
Got jailed, all stolen item confiscated, after enduring 2 days of public whips and ass banging on the stockade, I pickpocket the confiscated item chest key from the jailer.

What now, bitches? :smug:

Yeah, first time I mastered pickpocketing in any skyrim character.
Underrated as hell. I found a lot of good magic rings and jewelries from town NPC. And near infinite supply of Bolts and Arrows from Guards.
Not even making it up.

Try my fix [my nick there Umbrecht] to get some crash free , long range view and zero stuttering etc., it will let you have stable ugridstoload at 7 or even 11, much smoother gameplay even on weak pc and crash free experience:
http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/48387/?

Fix is included in PDF document in downloads section, and short sum up in stick post at comments section.

It's effect of playing Elder Scrolls for a few years . It's very simple takes only few minutes and goes mainly about modifing ini. file. I hope you will enjoy.
It will help greatly on heavy modded Skyrim too. Just try, it really works and already gathered a lot of positive reviews.
For easier job be sure to get few mods i mentioned in the description [like the one which let you to change ugrids values up and down on the fly without breaking saves].

I have exactly same processor , just try for yourself as it takes you only few minutes and you can easy and fast go back. [just backup Skyrim.ini file] I think you will like improvement.
For now i get all maxed out, about 250 mods, ENB included and better textures mods. My config is Intel Q9550 at 3.10, 8Gb ram ddr 2 and geforce 780gtx asus direct 2 cu [ going to change proc/mb and ram for i5 and ram ddr3 soon with new mb] , with my fix i reach stable over 40fps now, but what is more impornat game scripts works much better, and i have zero stutter and not a single crash or inifite loading screen.
It's really worth a try. You will "feel" difference instantly as many others , including me already had. Ive also described how it works and why, fix is already for almost a year at nexus and helped a lot of ppl.

Another thing is that proper modding of Skyrim is not as easy at all, you must use LOOT [new version of BOSS - actual] for sorting mods, then make use of Wrye Bash and make a Bashed patch, and then if you don't have any errors between mods [they can't be installed "just like that" ] you are ready to go. But in the end its worth the effort.

About improvement for various pc here is some lines from various players that used the fix:

"I don't know how, but after following/copying all of the tweaks suggested, I managed to run skyrim smoothly at 24-45 fps with shadows on my intel hd 3000!! with shadows. although the shadows are at low resolution, still this is an improvement. Thank you for sharing us your knowledge on this."

"I lose aprox 10 fps doing this but it works. Since I have a Titan Black though I do this with ugrids set to 7 and get a stable and consistent 20-40 fps (25-30 being avg). I have never seen the game look this good while performing so consistently. Keep it up man, great job"

"Thank you so much for this and all the hard work you've put in!
I copied in your latest changes and man, together with Realvision ENB it made Skyrim a completely new game, so smooth, the draw distance..."

"I have to admit I was very skeptical in the beginning, but I gave it try. Now I'm playing hours with the main solution 1.8 with stunning visual results without any troubles so far. Thanks a lot for sharing your findings."

"thank you so very much for this simple solution for exterior ctd. I have been using SKSE 1.7 memory patch and ENBlocal.ini memory tweaks but I always still had CTD in exteriors ( with basic Ugrid 5). Your ini tweaks simply stopped my CTD problem. Finally I can enjoy Skyrim with the great mods people have made without constant fear of game crashing. THANK YOU!"

"Thanks a lot for this tweaks!! I have a medium-low computer and i dont want to play without some immersive mods. Thanks to you now i can play average 40 fps with excellent quality, and very stable (no CTD's after 3 hours)."

Your HW setup is exactly as mine (except I have an R290), so there is hope. I haven't had the game installed in a long time, so it'll take a long time to rebuild everything, but will try your mod when I do, thanks.

You will really be glad, i can guarantee. Reading PDF will get you background what each line modifies and how, then you will be more sure about this fix. At it's core it is only few lines in ini, but it's really worth to read through comments and PDF first in the download section.
This engine is really simple and almost exactly the same as the one from Oblivion in terms of mechanics.

Both are relevant to my interests but too scared to try with Requiem.

Also, I think "insane" is more descriptive than "dumbfuck" - guy just doesn't seem norm.

You could say you bolted them to the floor.

Looks sound enough but is a coherent rewrite too much to hope for?

This engine is really simple and almost exactly the same as the one from Oblivion in terms of mechanics.
That's because it's a completely new engine not related to gamebryo in any shape or form.
:hearnoevil::gumpyhead:
Why would you ever doubt that?

I was taken by a mood and updated my mods to play a bit of Skyrim again.
I didn't get very far as I quickly realised I actually didn't have that much interest in playing it again.
Didn't help that heavy armor is fucking tedious early on in Requiem.

Nevertheless I'll probably dick around a bit more in the next days and was wondering whether ENBs are worth it.
So far I had used RLO with my own shadow tweaks, which looked good for my taste, but I decided to switch to CoT to check that out.
I'm still in the mood for tinkering a bit with graphics, so what's the verdict on ENBs? Say I don't want a big fps hit, what's out there currently?

It got too easy man.
It felt like an exploit.
Basically who ever trained me have the coins in the wallet.
And I have 100% chance to steal it all back.
I also pickpocketed thousands worth of crap in every city.
Since Requiem gave every guard 1-2 health potions, they became free ammo and healing containers for me XD
