The whole concept of Diplomacy/Recruitment/Dungeon Delving/Monsters getting creative and laying siege to your town in Depths of Peril.

The system was made better in Din's Curse but Mr Soldak dropped the whole protect/rule the town thing, which is a shame, really.

Yeah~ That is one good example. It is the clashing priority between ruling the base or delving the dungeons. That experiment was repeated in another game by another developer Tilted Mill Entertainment in Hinterland, though not as deep as in DoP.

By the definition of "being too niche for its own good", Reccetear is a bad RPG.

Reccetear is a shopkeeper simulator.

And because of something, it can be doable on first try (just hard), or impossible. Have you fell into that trap? (But if you fail, it would explain something about smile of main character...)

Indeed. The dungeon part is abysmal. The shop part is cute, sort of. Disregarding any classification (RPG/shopkeeper sim/whatever), overall I'd rate the game to be a 5/10 at best.

With Sacred 3 getting the game to exist was an interesting idea in itself.
