Well i didnt know Primm was real. Damn thats really stupid of me. Sure its just a backwater desert town with 436 residents but i agree it really should be common knowledge. Damn:cry:
Besides i wasnt saying its a theme park because of the rollercoster, i was saying it wasnt because they dont do anything with it, unlike in Megaton where theres a nuke and everything revolves around it. But i guess i was giving the devs too much credit. It wouldve been cool but whatever.
Completely agree. If there isn't a quest marker attached to it, it shouldn't be in the game!

In real life it's a mini-Vegas before Vegas, essentially.

The Primm casino does open up after you deal with the escaped convicts, and you can pick up ED-E there. Also you learn a bit about the delivery you were supposed to be making. I wouldn't say it was totally skippable, at least not on a first playthrough.

Sequence breaking in NV is pretty well accounted for though. :)

There's a pretty well known mod that'll let you help rebuild the casino/hotel and it's pretty well made. But it doesn't give you a usable rollercoaster.
Mind you, it should be doable using the tech in XRE cars. That'd be neat.

Ok ill say it one more time for the hearing impaired.

Im NOT saying Primm is a theme park town or that Primm sucks. I just said it wouldve been cool if they intentionally made the first town in the game have a rollercoaster just to mess with Bethesda. Thats all.

Primm was cool. When i got there it was dark and some guys started shooting so i had to get away. It was like New Reno but for real. Cause in New Reno you hear those gunshots fired constantly, like its some tough place and all but your not really in any danger. I wish it had something similar, like if you walk into a wrong alley they start shooting.

Plenty of such dangerous encounters in Freeside though with dumpster alley ambush and false guide to name a few... but such encounters in the Strip the Capital of House Empire and NCR R&R center would have no sense at all from muh setting and verisimilitude angle.

Runs on a shit engine and lacks some real polish (I would love more reactivity and better locations' layout design*), but hot damn, I love this game. Gets a little too pretentious (the Ceasar's introduction to his idea is too cringy), but the original and creative writing and real expanding the first Fallouts lore is too good to complain a lot.

*Inappropriate use of already existing assets and some bullshit object placement. The vanilla Freeside with car wrecks lying around for hundreds for years untouched, rubble and shit in the centre of the town, and hundred years old, wasted furniture still used even if should be burned down ages ago, etc. Kinda breaks my immershun. But I guess it's because of limited time and resources to make their own. They had to carve a piece of art from a piece of shit the investor gave them.

Basically.

Even if they had time, I doubt Obsidian would have given the franchise a 180º spin and put it back on track. New Vegas is right in the middle of the original Fallouts and Bethesda's Fallouts. It has better worldbuilding and writing, but there are things that don't make any sense and that are a left over from Bethesda's approach (like the soda machines still having bottles on them, among other things).

There are only 3 Fallout games. 1 & 2 and New Vegas. Enough said...
Tactics was actually kind of decent, it's a shame microforte never got to make a sequel Section8 seemed like he had some good ideas. Plus he created the choice and consequences catch phrase :troll:.

jaydee2k at first i thought so myself. But then i fired up FO1 again. And goddamn is that game a breath of fresh air or what. Its completely cleaned of all unnecessary bullshit and all its systems are clear and to the point just like the writing. The fun starts immediately and it lasts throughout. NV OTOH requires 1000+ mods to even be an RPG at all. And you still have to put up with worst interface ever. The writing is good but it doesnt fit the Fallout world. If you like stuff like KOTOR 2 or MOTB then okay, this is it with an open world twist added. But if you like Fallout then Arcanum and even Bloodlines are where its at.

Tactics works if you play it like a single player arcade shooter not team bs that is broken- 5 deathclaws to carry the loot + you

Another stupid NV quest i just remembered. In the Boomers Base. You have to kill the ants in the generator room and turn on the power. So basically i have to believe the Boomers were living without electricity for months because a couple of little ants nested there... 50 or so people armed to the teeth cant deal with some ants. Well why dont they send one of those killer robots they have patrolling around? No instead they sit and wait for some guy from the wastes to do it for them. And i have to do it all alone and cant take anyone with me. What bullshit. Fuck this game.

The ant situation is explained in-game but I guess you didn't read it because reading is boring and you were too busy hurrying back to Codex to complain in the hopes of getting some kool kredits.

The ants are explosive and they built their nest in a bomb hangar. It's clearly explained, so you are just being lazy.

Oh right the exploding ants. Thanks for reminding me about that Somberlain, Pippin. You assholes realize that this makes the quest even dumber? The ants explode if you shoot em up with lasers. Jesus no wonder i forgot about it, my mind mustve supressed it cause of how dumb it is. Just dont use laser guns? Jesus Christ. To make it worse it doesnt even matter. I used grenade launchers for the ants and NOTHING blew up. Now if this was a real Fallout game then it wouldve had some consequences or at least Ron Perlman woudve informed you in the end that "because of your mishandling of the EXPLOSIVE ANTS you have doomed the Boomers to certain death..." Jesus that sounds stupid. And people shit on Fallout 2.:decline: Decline of western culture

That was explained, the deathclaw was experimented on. Good enough for me. Besides if my 3 INT character can take a couple of mentats and suddenly talk like everyone else then whats the problem. And i dont mind the exploding ants as much as the Boomers not being able to deal with them. Its just stupid.

The problem is that you are a retard who thinks that everything is okay as long as it exists in Fallout 1/2 and everything is shit if it's in some other Fallout. Or at least you say that because you think it gives you prestige on Codex.

Is this some alt?

IIRC there's some old dude in the maintenance shack working on ant-killing sonic device.

You do realize that, just like many other factions instead of getting their own hands dirty, the Boomers are using you as an expendable asset, partly to see if you are capable and trustworthy enough?

No the problem is that youre a stupid asshole if you cant see that even the dumb stuff in FO2 had some amount of sense to it while NV requires you to be brain dead to believe it.

Accept my superior reasoning and i will forgive you Somberlain. There is no other way.

IIRC there's some old dude in the maintenance shack working on ant-killing sonic device.

An ant killing sonic device. But i just nuked them with my nuke launcher which the Boomers have lying all over the place... Again it makes the whole thing even dumber.

You're telling me a source of heat could make explosives... well.. explode?

Well as i said i dont have a problem with exploding ants. Theyre kinda funny. But the stupid part is the Boomers inability to deal with them until i come along. It makes the world seem static and stupid.

You do realize that, just like many other factions instead of getting their own hands dirty, the Boomers are using you as an expendable asset, partly to see if you are capable and trustworthy enough?

EXpendable asset? What are they, the CIA? This is their livelihood not some covert operation. Getting their hands dirty... So theyd rather sit in the dark then deal with the problem. Like literally if you go inside those barracks you see that the power is off. The doctor works in complete darkness. That kid historian sits alone in the dark etc. Because, why? Because NV is STUPID SHIT.

Sorry, have you missed the part in RPGs in general where various groups use you so they don't have to risk their own people?

You also fix up other broken shit around the base and help them with other tasks, because that's what you are to these people - someone they can milk for assistance.

F:NV may be a worse game than FO2 in most regards, but it has less lol, random wacky stuff in it, and is a more internally consistent.

Yes but thats all minor stuff, not a life or death situation. And it makes sense cause they dont deal with the outside world. So they dont know how to fix everything and the doctor knows only what he read in the magazines etc. Thats fine. But you take care of the ants instead of them because... Why? Why cant THEY kill the fucking ants? And its not some minor thing, not having electricity. So...

Folks, you have seen the evidence. Clearly this quest sucks. Its worse than anything in FO2 (and even in FO3). But currently, with 150 votes FONV is considered a "worthy Fallout sequel" on RPG Codex! This sickens me. I urge everyone to change their votes and bring FONV where it belongs. Say NO to FONV!
