The idiotic emoticons show very well those who are too unintelligent to respond to posts with any sensible argument.
I rather like some of them. Beats loads of "+1", "QFT", "LOL", "FOAD" etc. posts. It's nice to acknowledge users who make a good point or something without worrying about cluttering up a thread.

I think it's obvious DU is trying to slowly replace all posts with buttons. Seeing that we just had a "Why is romance awesome in RPGs?" thread, I see this as a lofty goal.

Soon we will remove the text part and people will just be rating each other's ratings.

It is like Newspeak, but Codexian Newspeak.

The thing I mostly dislike about the button parade is that you have to constantly keep your cursor off to the right or the left when scrolling a thread such as this one else all the choose-able buttons appear along with their animations distracting you from the thread's content and also they are now occupying two rows which is causing each post space in each thread to be longer than it needs to be.

I like the new button system, it's vastly superior to the "Brofist" (still can't get over how lame that sounds) system in that it allows some humour, diminishes circle-jerking incentives, and prevents at least some image macro spam.
