Yeah it's a bit weird. If you push the opponent so he steps back you can easily score hits, that's why most of the victories are of dudes pushed into a corner, they raise their swords and just take it, like Obi-Wan or something. The other mini-games are way harder, which is why I avoid them.

Do you need to worry about your own retainers ganking you like you may try with the ones above you?

Bros, I fucked up again. :P

I saved the upcoming chapter as a draft two days ago, then I got properly drunk on Friday and had a mighty good time. Figured I would pick up right where I left off, but... Nigga stole my draft! Guess it got auto-deleted or something? Even tried to recover the deleted screenshots, but they came out corrupted. Long story short, don't trust the Codex to save your draft, it just pushes some buttons aaand it's gone!

Anyway, with no other options, I had to write another shitty recap:

O2ASeN3.png

Right off the bat, Jinbo conquered Shinano, which was previously independent. As for the immediate neighbours, Lord Date had 2,500 troops, Uesugi had 1,800 and Turi only had measly 1,700. I was very concerned that the Date thugs would invade, which would have spelled instant game over. Reason for this is that on Daimyo level, every defensive battle is a do-or-die situation. The enemy doesn't just take some land if they win, they annex you completely.

On turn 1, Turi challenged Lord Date to a duel and cut him down. Fortunately, the Date didn't invade. I repeated this move on turn 2, killing the second Date daimyo. This produced the desired result, and the Date clan lost a bunch of troops bringing their army strength down to 1,800. I figured those odds were acceptable, so on turn 3 I launched an invasion, praying I could outsmart them with some snazzy tactics. There was no need, however, because the Date cucks surrendered without a fight! Anticlimactic to say the least, but also pretty amusing.

With the Date clan dealt with Turizasu just recruited more troops and fought some swordsmen challengers to boost honour. Eventually, Lord Asano of Kozuke province (the one in the middle between Satake, Uesugi and Jinbo) tried to annex one of his neighbours and failed miserably. This left him with only 100 men! Naturally, Turi promptly invaded and Asano surrendered. That was the situation where the update ended, and where the next one begins.

And here's the next update:

srpjiTK.png

pBKB1IZ.png

News spread of how the Miyagi clan has pushed east and conquered Shimosa province, no doubt sustaining heavy casualties in the process.

Since they haven't been able to recruit more samurai to replace their losses this would be a perfect moment to strike!

p6JLpGZ.png

Unfortunately, that sneaky bastard Satake has the same idea and manages to invade first!

In one swift attack he completely crushes Mr Miyagi and effectively triples his own domain.

lZW9VO2.png

Turizasu has been raising troops in peace and now commands a respectable force.

The army is in top shape, and it is a good time to use it.

yXImye3.png

Satake, however, is no pushover. With 2,800 troops he will no doubt put up a good fight.

Even if Turizasu would win, severe casualties could make him vulnerable to attacks from other rivals.

811NgmE.png

Uesugi, in particular, comes to mind. He is a great general and could probably beat Turizasu in an even fight.

Turi has a cunning plan...

FpBikVA.png

If conquering Satake is out of the question, the best approach is obviously to conquer Uesugi instead.

This will make it possible to attack Satake later on, without having to worry about this thorn in Turi's side.

6DJqVJF.png

Unlike the Date cucks, however, Uesugi won't go down without a fight!

jV1dJ07.png

Employing the trusty Katana move, Turizasu sends his troops forth to surround the enemy.

CijMvzq.png

The archers attack first, luring the spearmen straight into the trap!

Yluwxcb.png

Some riders go down, but so do the enemy soldiers.

After a brief engagement, the infantry and cavalry charge the remaining ashigaru.

pUjlnFy.png

ctFv9cn.png

The battle is over, and Turizasu scores his first major kill. Uesugi is no more!

K90JmFq.png

Five hundred is definitely acceptable.

Satake probably won't attack since the two armies are still pretty even.

xZImliY.png

Jinbo, meanwhile, suffers a humiliating defeat. Good thing, because that guy could become troublesome.

Mg5B1ir.png

This chump Hojo has to be kidding! Shitty one-province clan with a thousand samurai.

Send your ninjas in the night bro, still gonna wipe you out for this insult.

P9Q1TfY.png

Some butthurt lunatic wants to settle a score with Lord Turizasu. Despite being above such common affairs, our hero decides to deal with the matter personally.

Ordering his men to stand down, he grabs his katana and makes for the dojo. Gotta keep fit and all that.

e8ZXHMA.png

Well what do you know! This dude was actually pretty strong, scoring two hits on our manly man. However, Turizasu is no weakling.

He endures, regains his ground and finishes his opponent *rightly* with a pommel-throw followed by a well-timed leftward slash.

mj2mBQD.png

The tale of Turizasu's epic katana skill spreads throughout Japan! Not bad, not bad at all.

kPureyi.png

wxvHqFy.png

The legendary Takeda is invaded by Satake and promptly defeated!

This Satake guy is shaping up to be serious trouble.

a3xe876.png

After conquering Uesugi's lands Turi has bolstered his army.

MMPU5ch.png

Satake, however, is actually slightly ahead!

The armies are too evenly matched to risk an invasion, so Turizasu decides to bide his time and wait for an opportunity to present itself.

FsTbUVI.png

It doesn't take long! After a few seasons, Jinbo suffers another defeat and is now critically short on fighting men.

Wasting no time, Turizasu crosses the border with his army!

8bPrenR.png

Fifygjh.png

Old man Jinbo should've surrendered, there is simply no way to lose against his rag-tag force.

In order to keep Satake from launching a sneak attack, Turizasu still does his best to keep his casualties at a minimum.

w0EzpfA.png

The classic baiting and double-smashing tactic pays off again!

Jinbo commits seppuku and his clan fades from history.

ZlZvNEG.png

Gained two provinces for a mere 100 ashigaru. Best deal!

cQe3LNf.png

As predicted, Satake thinks twice about invading Turizasu and instead goes for the easy target of Lord Hojo.

While that uppity loser will hardly be missed, Turi regrets that he didn't get to kill him personally.

sZ23fz3.png

:smug:

kNMOnn5.png

While all this is going on, Lord Nakamura distinguishes himself in the south by conquering Izo province.

He now commands roughly 2,000 samurai and his domain borders both Satake's and Turizasu's own.

cuPhLaq.png

N0aSO2W.png

Wk4TRhn.png

Another challenger appears, gets cut down and unwittingly boosts Turi's reputation.

Business as usual, really, but I simply had to post that snazzy samurai pic.

dx8Jp4c.png

After several seasons of recruitment on all sides, the watchful truce is broken by Satake.

He invades Nakamura in full force, only to get beaten back! After the disastrous battle, Satake's forces are down to a mere 3,600 men.

Turizasu, meanwhile, commands over 6,000 samurai warriors. This is the moment he has been waiting for!

n8scEIj.png

dhaCXdc.png

With the wealth and manpower of Satake's holdings, Turizasu will become a practically unstoppable power in the east.

As his forces cross the border into the Kanto region, he is already planning his next campaign: to liberate Kyoto and have the Emperor declare him Shogun!

85sE82R.png

0qnr5UY.png

Satake is no weakling. Despite the hopeless situation, he would rather die than bend the knee.

Turizasu and his men are only too happy to oblige!

8JURDtv.png

No need for intricate ploys with such a numerical advantage. Turi settles for a classic full frontal assault!

xeXavph.png

The riflemen exchange fire with Satake's archers, while Turi's own archers attack the enemy cavalry. So far, so good!

B2HCKLx.png

Confident that victory will be secured, Turizasu sends his cavalry to deal with the enemy infantry.

At the same time, Satake's cavalry clashes with Turizasu's ashigaru and archers.

AxpVLS1.png

The battle on the left side of the river goes well, but on the right side, Satake's powerful cavalrymen cut through Turi's forces!

The third and fifth units break formation and shamefully run for the hills.

zrVyatI.png

Turizasu manages to order the third unit to stand their ground, but Satake's cavalry turn around and charge them a second time!

3ljWfUt.png

Instead of doing their patriotic duty, these wretched peasants run like little girls.

A supremely shameful display.

BVSU1Dp.png

Having routed the spearmen, Satake's cavalry turns around and gets ready for the final showdown!

93VsORK.png

In a furious charge, the Satake wretches ride down the riflemen, quickly butchering them to a man.

Turi's remaining formations scramble to attack, but they manage to collide and get entangled.

Amidst the confusion, the enemy manages to flank Turi's cavalry, hitting its weak point for massive damage!

v3QLQqL.png

When the yari ashigaru finally manage to attack the enemy their allied cavarly has been completely obliterated.

j8eOGOM.png

A desperate struggle follows. The dead and dying litter the ground, but neither daimyo is prepared to pull back.

Turizasu has the numbers, but Satake's men are clearly stronger. For a long time, it is impossible to tell the outcome...

anhMCt1.png

But then, one side breaks. The onslaught is simply too much for the ashigaru, and despite Turizasu's furious cursing and repeated orders to stand and fight, his drafted farmer trash flee in terror. In face of the approaching enemy, urged on by a mighty smug Lord Satake, our man has no choice but to retreat in unspeakable shame.

The battle is lost!

Yeah, losses were pretty extreme.

Plenty of revenge incoming though:

DJyO5JT.png

Still raging hard at the dishonourable defeat, Turizasu recruits throngs of men to fill the vacancies in his army.

In retrospect, it was foolish to underestimate Satake's cavalry. Should have trapped those scrubs in a pincer movement.

Instead those shaggy fucks could roam about the battlefield and pull all kinds of shit!

YK12Tmk.png

That smug cunt Satake is beefing up as well, preparing his forces for the inevitable battle to come.

Can't let this slide, gotta crush him once and for all!

G1hBpsv.png

While Turi and Satake rebuild their forces, Nakamura pushes west and conquers another province.

He is not really dangerous yet, but he could become a problem if he keeps growing like this.

NpUjACM.png

In the west, Niwa conquers Echizen, enlarging his growing domain further.

This cracker holds Kyoto and obviously has to go, but for now, Turizasu is focused on Satake.

xYQwM6K.png

After many seasons of grinding, the forces are back in shape!

NSUgv1V.png

And so is Satake's army. The forces are well matched, and Satake is supposedly the better general.

Turi doesn't care the slightest.

Time to end this already!

4cqKUrT.png

Marching his troops across the border, Turizasu is determined to do things right this time.

No more lazy frontal charges - it is time for snazzy maneuvers!

iVKsQVO.png

Since Satake's cavalry determined the outcome of that previous battle, Turi makes it a priority to take it out as soon as possible.

Obviously, a trusty Katana attack is the most appropriate move to secure this objective.

zLHMy2S.png

The men move out! Satake's thugs, meanwhile, just stand their ground, ready to defend.

p76AaKv.png

The ashigaru arquebusiers take position south of the river and deliver a couple of volleys, ripping straight into the heavy cavalry.

zdST1Yh.png

As Satake sends the riders forth, Turizasu orders his yari ashigaru to charge! This time, however, they will get backup.

9jf5ZrG.png

As the formations clash, Turi's other yari ashigaru unit flanks the cavalry.

At the same time, his own cavalry reinforces the men fighting face to face with Satake's dreaded unit.

WrF4BeI.png

The plan works, and the hated Satake cavalry is completely destroyed!

Satake tries to take the ashigaru by surprise, but Turi's cavalry is too fast.

Ikgpi44.png

Fuelled by hatred and a burning desire for revenge, Turi's troops keep charging through the enemy ranks!

At the same time, his archers unleash several volleys of arrows on the stationary defenders.

kHEpgvJ.png

The savage attack is too much to bear for the enemy, who quickly turn and run!

Bunch of cowards, no real samurai would retreat from battle. :M

tZuDfHs.png

Turizasu's men rampage through the battlefield, gutting injured enemies and cutting off heads for trophies.

Much to Turi's delight, one particularly ugly skull is presented before him, its smug grin finally wiped off its stupid face.

Lord Satake has been dealt with, and in the most ignominious fashion imaginable - killed by a fucking oaf for hire!

4imNx2l.png

Turizasu takes control of Satake's provinces, squeezing them long and hard for juicy taxes and extra fodder for the army.

SGsJNkz.png

As Turi consolidates his massive gains, Lord Niwa bullies some province into submission. No big deal.

quBm46X.png

fbZSYu8.png

YQzNyAC.png

With his domain nearly doubled in size, Turizasu gathers the greatest host the family has ever commanded.

Surely, no one can stand against him now!

UKsLXcW.png

Nakamura is working hard at competing for the title of Shogun, but it simply isn't hard enough.

His pitiful forces stand no chance!

gsK47P7.png

Some minor disturbance will not be alllowed to distract Turizasu.

Better let the underlings deal with this one.

IjjqV31.png

After a few seasons, Turizasu has nearly 12,000 samurai ready to fight and die under his banner.

Nakamura, meanwhile...

NV5YLi4.png

Has somewhat less. :)

E2Od9dK.png

JNvVtB9.png

Gotta give it to him, it takes guts to face these odds. Well, either that or a death wish.

Would have been nice to avoid the casualties, but at least this way Turizasu gets to try out his new forces.

GziqMEQ.png

Only a miracle could save this rabble from Turizasu's mighty host.

Just look at it! Three cavalry units!

Might just be the most beautiful thing I have ever seen in my life.

GiZ0oVG.png

Wasting no time, Turi's army charges Nakamura's defenders! They put up a brave fight, but obviously fall quickly.

YYODnfx.png

This was no battle - it was a slaughter!

End of line for old Nakamura. At least he served as a solid stepping stone for Turi on his path to ultimate power.

Truly the highest honour a scrub like Nakamura could aspire to.

1DlplLQ.png

More land, more koku, more ashigaru. Turizasu stands astride Eastern Japan like a colossus!

G4HfYL7.png

w4VaVUG.png

Kitabatake makes an ambitious move, only to get attacked by that sneaky churl Ishikawa, claiming both his price and his home province.

Unfortunately for him, he isn't the only sneaky predator around...

SzunEzX.png

Ishikawa's provinces are ripe and juicy, and they are practically begging to get absorbed into Turizasu's domain!

Instead of bending the knee, Lord Ishikawa defiantly marches to battle, fully determined to repel Turizasu's advances.

fFAblaA.png

A noble attempt, but surely resistance is futile. Nevertheless, Turi welcomes it. Always more fun when they struggle!

Our manly commander plans a full-scale pincer attack, using the cavalry to flank while bombarding the enemy with missiles.

FMzzelT.png

The trap was sound, but it failed to close as fast as intended.

Ishikawa's troops fight valiantly, but they are doomed all the same.

BwhetaX.png

Before long, Ishikawa's forces are completely surrounded and cut down to a man.

ygYOYO1.png

After the battle, Lord Turizasu comments:

"It was good to see Ishikawa put up a spirited defence. However, he was a daimyo of inadequate skills."

ouCsl9F.png

Ukita is hard at work, expanding his domain as well. Only Ukita and Hosokawa remain serious threats.

Am1If11.png

9AK8xT5.png

Niwa snatches Settsu after Hatano had already juiced it up. Dirty move, but not as dirty as this...

xmWjnpj.png

l92OX2v.png

Gathering his massive army, Turizasu marches on Niwa's domain.

iwnNNJC.png

fhma2rc.png

Hah! Niwa goes full Crispy and surrenders without a fight. Without wasting a single ashigaru, Turizasu swiftly takes control of his new provinces.

He marches into the imperial capital of Kyoto and soon begins to make arrangements to have the "liberated" Emperor declare him Shogun!

ow00XZU.png

Ukita, meanwhile, is too cowardly to challenge Turizasu directly, so he settles for annexing that little chump Hatano.

B5yn9oD.png

Hosokawa, sensing an opportunity, attempts a sneaky invasion in the west! Fortunately, he is duly repelled.

If the two clans would merge, they could still defeat Turizasu in battle. At this rate, however, they are destined to fall.

Finally, nothing can stand between Turi and his destiny!

Nothing, except...

ALh6TIA.png

Some shitty heir of Satake, inciting the realm against Turi's rightful rule!

Should have smashed every little baby skull in that accursed family.

Ah well, no biggie, just a little revolt, how bad could-

Alright alright! Final update:

809e0ne.png

Self-proclaimed "Lord" Satake immediately goes off the grid, preventing Turizasu from tracking him down and duelling him.

Sneaky little cunt, must have heard what happened to the Date back in the day.

And now he is probably planning some ninja in da nite action. What a disgusting creature!

SRL5q6r.png

Satake's equally disgusting rebels actually hold one more province than Turizasu does.

Their armed forces, however, only outnumber Turizasu's by a couple of hundred men.

mOrjpLT.png

Obviously, this cancer must be cut out before it can spread any further.

Turizasu rallies his army and marches on the traitors!

Whatever sneaky shit Satake was up to is disrupted, as he is forced to return and take command of his army.

ouiQETs.png

Just like in the battle where Turizasu obliterated Satake's old man, our hero opens with his trademark Katana attack.

Instead of assaulting the cavalry first, however, Turi is now hoping to crush the infantry and archers.

Left by themselves, the enemy cavalry formations will surely fall to the deadly tactics of flanking and encirclement.

XXj9T22.png

As the men get into position the enemy archers take some free shots, killing a bunch of Turi's missile troops.

At the same time, Turi's archers trade fire with the rebel arquebusiers, severly culling their ranks.

dlVkqK4.png

The men charge right into the enemy. Turi's cavalry slaughter the rebel ashigaru, forcing them to scatter and run.

His own ashigaru take quite a beating, but are soon backed up by the cavalry!

PKo6Aw2.png

Sneaky Satake sends in his own cavalry to savage Turi's ashigaru, but in so doing, he runs straight into the trap!

Like a complete chump, he also keeps his two other cavalry formations stationary.

9eSjOM8.png

Turi loses a bunch of men, but it is all worth it.

1r9CNkM.png

Ever the practical commander, Turi decides to sacrifice his archers in order to split up the enemy.

They fire a couple of volleys, before getting predictably charged, scattered and cut down!

OlLAVgH.png

As Satake butchers the fleeing archers, Turizasu manages to flank and destroy the cavalry unit that stayed behind.

MW1wHJW.png

On their own, Satake's remaining troops are easily defeated.

Turizasu secures another victory!

0Wpb59i.png

Order is restored, but at a hefty price. This battle was easily the bloodiest so far, claiming a whole lot of fodder.

An example must be made, so Turizasu executes every rebel and suspected rebel, along with their extended families.

For good measure, he also executes shifty-eyed people who look like potential future rebels.

s2NNaHQ.png

Only Lord Hosokawa can now challenge Turizasu, but he would have to cut through Lord Ukita's realm to attack him.

Since Ukita acts as a buffer, Turi can safely recruit more samurai and get his army back in shape.

ruaKyjp.png

Amusingly, this chump tries to extend his realm by annexing Hosokawa's provinces... And fails miserably!

Stuck as he is between two giants, Ukita is probably not long for this world.

xuHe4rb.png

Old man Turizasu is now *aged* and can barely manage to lift his katana, much less swing it at the enemy.

To the dismay of his son Johannesu, however, Turi refuses to retire. He is still man enough to finish this!

8kBlAQZ.png

Lord Hosokawa is strong, but he lost a fair bit of men defending against Ukita.

vJWtb2w.png

Ukita, meanwhile, has barely half the troops of Turizasu.

AhVSrB7.png

Turizasu already controls enough of Japan to declare himself Shogun, but Ukita and Hosokawa would likely oppose him.

Were that to happen, the two lords would ally and he would have to fight their combined forces.

They would probably win, too. Their united army would outnumber Turizasu's by almost 4,000 samurai warriors.

4EWCYxI.png

The answer, then, is to take out Ukita first. Hosokawa, of course, will probably attack right after Ukita has been defeated.

Nevertheless, Turizasu would rather fight them one at a time than both at once.

Besides, if he fights well against Ukita, his casualties should be light. All in all, this is the best move!

4bF4L15.png

His mind made up, Tuirzasu marches west into Ukita's domain.

As a mere formality, he sends a message demanding Ukita's surrender...

JolxwdJ.png

And the old cuck actually bends the knee!

U5wjulZ.png

This cowardly move by Ukita changes everything! Only Hosokawa and his retainers now oppose Turizasu's rule.

Ukita's forces did not join Turi's army, but they were taken out of the equation.

Turi's army now outnumber the enemy by roughly 1,500 samurai. The time has finally come...

boULvAD.png

Turizasu gives the word and the Emperor in Kyoto declares him Shogun!

Defiant to the very end, Lord Hosokawa stubbornly refuses to submit.

The conflict can only be resolved on the battlefield.

vvShqRU.png

Despite being slightly outnumbered, Hosokawa's army is still powerful.

Weighing his options, Turi decides to go with the Kakuyoku pincer attack.

yBYWGqP.png

The troops move out and engage the enemy! Hosokawa's archers fire off a few volleys, but the soldiers close in quickly.

On his left flank, Turizasu's cavalry emerges from the woods, charging the arquebusiers.

HEJhuST.png

It all happens quickly! On the right flank, Turizasu's cavalry charge Hosokawa's archers and riders, cutting them down.

On the left flank, the enemy arquebusiers are defeated, but so is Turi's cavalry.

In the centre, Turi's archers fire wildly at the enemy while the yari ashigaru rumble in the bogs.

2VSseXR.png

The enemy ashigaru formation in the swamp is utterly destroyed, but Hosokawa manages to flank one of Turi's units as well.

1CvFwhg.png

Beaten badly, the spearmen run for their lives, only to head right into Hosokawa's returning cavalry!

UKGLuu2.png

Turizasu tries to rally his forces and flank the enemy spearmen, but he is only partially successful.

Many of the men are bogged down in the swamp, and they move extremely slow.

p08778h.png

Hosokawa's yari ashigaru manage to turn around and face Turi's troops face to face!

The cavalry eventually manages to flank them, but they are delayed by the difficult terrain.

fo3CnzX.png

The onslaught is too much, and Hosokawa's men turn and run. Turi's archers fire at them for good measure.

sQTTjn7.png

Only the enemy cavalry is left, hiding in the forest where they previously butchered Turi's retreating spearmen.

They put up a desperate defence, and for a while they manage to repel Turizasu's own cavalry...

FbhuYlj.png

In the end, however, they are overrun, and as they go down, so does the hope of defying the new Shogun.

The prisoner are put to death, and Hosokawa's rotting head is paraded in front of the troops as they unite the country.

One by one, Hosokawa's former provinces are liberated and forced to respect Turizasu's authority!

Of all the daimyo who vied for power...

TURIZASU STANDS TRIUMPHANT!
