Well this was a surprise. Already up on Steam Early Access too (so vaporware or bullshot isn't possible).

It's clearly riding on Minecraft, but between looking like it was competently made, the license and probably not being coded in Java, I think this one will finally put the mangey flea ridden dog that actually a giant rat down. (Though if Lego universe being killed by the cost of anti-penis moderators is any indication, I doubt it will have multiplayer.)

Not big into empty sandboxes myself, but the thought that SOMETHING will finally kill Minecraft is pure :incline:

Got it when I saw it, gonna put my kid to try it out tomorrow. Might try it myself if I got time tonight, but I'm not the kind that likes to play in virtual sandboxes by himself.

Why does this weird kid's game have a much better trailer than every fucking AAA game ever?

I don't get the edgy hate for Minecraft... It's a building game, it's fun for people that like to build shit. What's the problem?

If your problem is with some of the retards around it and the "social phenomena" then complain about that. Be precise motherfuckers.

Drax The developer abandoned it when it wasn't even remotely finished and it was coded so badly (thanks to using Java) that even a super computer can't run it well. The popularity despite those massive problems is just piss on the shit really.

He hired developers to continue the work since he was already rich as fuck and didn't want to keep working. That's not abandoning it, it's doing what he wanted to do. Nothing wrong with that.

I see it the other way, the fact that even with it's technical limitations (which btw, you're blowing out of proportion, a vanilla minecraft runs perfectly fine on a normal pc) achieved such success tells me there is worth to it. Of course there are a lot of factors re: trends, hipsters and so on. But I fail to see what the fuck does that has to do with the game itself.
The core gameplay is built around exploring, mining, crafting and building; I would say the game does that fairly well, so let's be objective and be pissed at what needs to be (retards) and not to whatever (the game itself)

The hired developers have done nothing to fix the broken core, just add pointless things (OMG you can tame dogs now!). The idea wasn't even original or a notable improvement on existing games of the type

My main beef is that he stole an opensource game (infiniminer), made a paid, inferior version in java and reaped a small fortune because youtubers stumbled across his ripoff first.

Isn't this a WB game? This smells like a DLC platform.

Worse than that, it's a Tall Tales game, meaning it's the same bunch of incompetent coders who've been remaking the same game for 8 years with different franchise licenses.

So yeah, caution should be exercised.

Oh wow, Minecraft is shit now  ?
Like anything else that gets popular it immediately becomes "bad" by the edgy kids.

A song gets popular? Oh it's terrible!
A band makes it big? Oh they are bad!
A game is a huge success? It's terrible!

I wish they would make a Game Maker/RPG Maker type program using their 3D engine instead... :(

LEGO Morrowind clone would be pretty sweet!

single player only
how dissapointing.
Only for the beta I assume. On the Early Access page they state that they're planning to implement online multiplayer.

This does sound pretty exciting. A stable Minecraft with a better theme (i.e FUCKING LEGOS) and probably better gameplay.
