I believe it was just a Flamer of Tzeentch, not a Lord of Change.

Identification correct, Brother Toastboy. That is a Flamer. Tzeench has without doubt clouded the mind of the leading Librarian.Probably a sign of Warp taint....

Do not worry, you'll face a Greater Demon of Tzeentch. And a Bloodthirster. The Lord of Change is kind of dangerous, being fought in a close enviroment. The Khornate Greater Demon is more of a surprise, but less dangerous for reason that I prefer not to say - not going to spoil all the fun!

Ouch for the Termie. CG being CG, you lost a Teminator armour forever. Don't worry...there are some spares in a campaign map. If you look well. Great way to give the player some pressure to use them well, IMHO.

B-but it looked beaky...

I must confess I'm never in a sober disposition when playing any video game or when I'm writing this LP ;)

Captain, we recovered Captain Root's Terminator suit.
captain_kruger.jpg
Good. I have a suitable replacement in mind.
m9mage004.jpg

Brother Garfunkel: The enemy shall kiss the tongues of my flamer!

m9mage005.jpg

Apothecary Azira: Finally! I thought the Emperor had forgotten me.

m9mage006.jpg

The enemy is scattered but in cover, ready for our assault. This time Hellraiser's Assault Squad leads, while the Terminators provide a mobile base of fire that can weather the front line.

m9mage007.jpg

The Assault Squad was exposed at the top of the Thunderhawk's ramp, though. The area safest from bullets -- within running distance -- is the raised platform directly in front of them. They have to go there. One manages to reach the lone Word Bearer on that landing, threatening it to keep him from using his bolter.

m9mage008.jpg

The Terminators pile out after the Assault Squad. Garfunkel lights a Traitor on fire.

m9mage009.jpg

In the back of the room, the Ultramarines notice the thicker clunk of a heavy bolter. Slips aims his own at this new high priority target.

m9mage010.jpg

The target no longer has high priority.

m9mage011.jpg

The doors along the west wall slide open, revealing more enemies.

m9mage012.jpg

They thump the floor as they charge towards Hellraiser's squad. Their roaring chainaxes and specially-crested helms betray them to be Berzerkers of Khorne!

m9mage013.jpg

The squad decides to be clever and fight the melee attackers at range. Toastboy shoots a plasma grenade at the center of their triangle.

m9mage014.jpg

The heat of a thousand sons overwhelm them.

m9mage015.jpg

The rest of the docking bay is cleared out, so we ready for the next room.

m9mage016.jpg

Ready, set...

m9mage017.jpg

Shit! The enemy is more than ready for us.

I should have (A) thrown a smoke grenade and/or (B) had a Terminator pull the switch.

m9mage018.jpg

The cowards surprise Brother Awesome before he can even turn his head.

m9mage019.jpg

And sometimes the least worthy get a scrap of meat.

m9mage020.jpg

Goku, exposed in the center between the doors, throws smoke and tries to make a tactical retreat.

m9mage021.jpg

But one of the Word Bearers clips him with a Lascannon. Well, clips his head off.

m9mage022.jpg

At the same time, Hellraiser is able to retreat to the opposite wall, through cover of smoke. But that's the last retreat he will make, two of his brothers having just fallen.

Now we shall wait for enemy to grope blindly through the smoke.

m9mage023.jpg

m9mage024.jpg

m9mage025.jpg

That went better.

m9mage026.jpg

The switch is flipped, and all bolters are pointed at the opening portal.

m9mage027.jpg

The auspex shows these defenders ill prepared for our assault. Excellent. For the Emperor!

m9mage028.jpg

A sorcerer and another traitor are within view, but out of range. We'll let them come to us.

m9mage029.jpg

Indeed, a Berzerker storms out of the shadows

m9mage030.jpg

And falls before his foot can pass the doorway. The Sorcerer then steps into view

m9mage031.jpg

Only to be engulfed in a plasma ball shot from Boris's cannon.

m9mage032.jpg

Garfunkel and Storyfag wade into the room, gun-arms ready to strike.

m9mage033.jpg

Another Berzerker runs at the doorway

m9mage034.jpg

Boris: I have this one.

m9mage035.jpg

And another Traitor transforms to ash.

m9mage036.jpg

More Berzerkers. It's a trend.

m9mage037.jpg

One gets too close, and Garfunkel himself and Podex Pistor on fire. This is also a trend.

m9mage038.jpg

Three other Berzerkers run at Storyfag, thinking the assault cannon weak at short range.

m9mage039.jpg

That would be a negative.

m9mage041.jpg

Now, these doors along the north wall have been closed. There are probably enemies inside. Garfunkel, go check.

m9mage042.jpg

He does. And then misses with the heavy flamer. Somehow.

m9mage043.jpg

Janus throws a smoke grenade to cover Garfunkel.

m9mage044.jpg

The door on the left then slides open, revealing another Word Bearer. But Garfunkel doesn't miss this time, and both Traitors are enveloped in thick flame.

m9mage045.jpg

The main room is clear, but Daemons start to emerge from the narrow hallway that shoots out the side of the room.

m9mage046.jpg

A Flamer

m9mage047.jpg

Horrors

m9mage048.jpg

None of them are special.

m9mage049.jpg

All die the same.

m9mage050.jpg

One more.

m9mage051.jpg

m9mage052.jpg

m9mage053.jpg

Done.

m9mage054.jpg

Now, the doors to the west and the hallway to the north all lead to the same courtyard we need to reach.

m9mage055.jpg

The auspex shows that the enemy force is biased towards the front of the room.

m9mage056.jpg

The Terminators thus will grab that larger force's attention from the front, pinning them while the Assault and Devastator squads make a flanking strike via the hallway.

Theoretically.

m9mage057.jpg

Down the hallway, Brother Overboard finds a Lascannon in a crate someone put to the side.

m9mage058.jpg

The Terminators are in position.

m9mage059.jpg

And now so is the other team. Smashing Axe tags along to bring even more close quarters punch.

m9mage060.jpg

Brother Toastboy pulls the switch...

m9mage061.jpg

He sees one enemy out of the corner of his left eye. On instinct, he drops to one knee.

m9mage062.jpg

And, on instinct, Slips tears holes through the enemy with his heavy bolter.

m9mage064.jpg

An enemy Terminator pops into view

m9mage065.jpg

He and a couple Berzerkers ignore Overboard and rush at my main gunline.

m9mage066.jpg

By the Emperor, they are fast. They covered more distance than planned

m9mage067.jpg

For the Terminators still haven't moved yet! Now they do

m9mage069.jpg

Shit, these switches only control the doors behind us.

m9mage068.jpg

So no switch in the next room opens the doors before them.

m9mage070.jpg

They have to take a long detour. The other Ultramarines are on their own for now!

m9mage071.jpg

They are not alone -- Not as long as they are beside a battle brother.

m9mage072.jpg

Smashing Axe beats the Word Bearers back with his hammer and shield.

m9mage073.jpg

The Terminator and one Berzerker fall before him, but he still continues, relentless.

m9mage074.jpg

Toastboy, in lighter armor, dashes in to add his own punch to the mix.

m9mage075.jpg

Then he gives his jump button a little tap to get back out of the fire.

m9mage076.jpg

The cowards throw a grenade instead of accepting the challenge of true combat

m9mage077.jpg

It destroys our cover but causes little else harm.

m9mage078.jpg

Smashing Axe's turn.

m9mage079.jpg

Relentless.

m9mage080.jpg

Overboard snipes a Terminator with his new Lascannon.

m9mage081.jpg

The enemy firebase thinned down to nothing, Toastboy senses the conditions favorable for his power fist.

m9mage082.jpg

The enemy replies with a jet from a flamer

m9mage083.jpg

But it doesn't stop him.

m9mage084.jpg

For we are all relentless.

m9mage085.jpg

m9mage086.jpg

Our enemies have mostly been driven before us.

m9mage087.jpg

Meanwhile, the Terminators run into Bloodletters! At least two.

m9mage088.jpg

We'll let them come to us.

m9mage089.jpg

They do... And Garfunkel lights all of the Terminators on fire.

m9mage091.jpg

As I said, a trend.

m9mage103.jpg

But this is no trend of humor. Our most beloved battle brother has fallen.

m9mage090.jpg

m9mage092.jpg

In the main room, the other team knows not of what happened yet. They have cleared the courtyard to completion and now seek their incarcerated brother.

m9mage093.jpg

The auspex showed a friendly beacon within this cell.

m9mage094.jpg

Ah, there he is indeed. Apothecary!

m9mage095.jpg

Mission complete.

m9mage096.jpg

m9mage097.jpg

m9mage098.jpg

m9mage099.jpg

m9mage100.jpg

We rescued one at the cost of three... We must repent for our mistakes, Brothers!

Next...

It was an honor, sir...

That said, I hope I can serve once more.

If an alternative name is needed, then Ungern shall do.

If anyone's curious about how this plays, I was streaming the other day on Twitchtv and it saved the broadcast: http://www.twitch.tv/sirmangoose/b/381892175

Oo, just noticed that I recorded a 640x480 area, which is what the game is in outside of battle, but it switched to 1024x768 during battle and the recording area didn't change. So a bunch is cut off, oh well.
