They are doing 'enhanced' ports of games that work perfectly well on modern PCs. Why don't they make games of their own?

What is wrong with them doing a port? You can play the originals any time you want.

I don't get the point in a partial port of games that already work fine.

I had an awful though of the players leaving Morte on the shelf because the party is 'already full'.

He was repeatedly calling Throne of Bhaal "Throne of Bhall" on Twitter. The guy doesn't know shit about anything.

The point is they are doing the original games in the same engine with a few tweaks. Trying to make money off old games. If they were remakes, complete overhauls, different takes on the Baldur's Gate saga I still wouldn't like it but I'd begrudge some respect. But this.... this is lazy. I know Oster worked on the original games but this still seems like he's trying to make money on the sly.

Of course they are trying to make money (as in hopefully the project will be profitable). They also want to do a port that works better/well on the iPad and uses some of that OS' features. EA's also making money on older games at GOG. Activision is making money on older games on GOG. And on and on. Are you incredibly upset about that as well?

I still fail to see the problem. Though as Zed pointed out the "Throne of Bhall" on Twitter was LOL. heh

It's all well and good if they add anything of value. So far it looks like unless you own an iPad or Mac, then you aren't getting jack shit, but perhaps they will reveal more as time goes by. The problem is they keep talking about a "summer" release and that is like...a couple of months away? What the fuck can they do in 2 months?

Anyway there is already a thread about the BG stuff, this talk of MP in Planescape is nothing short of full retard what a fucking moran r00fles

The games on GOG are 'as is', all GOG do is add their own installer and put together some frontends for Dosbox/Scummvm. There aren't any other professional people deciding to do 'enhanced' versions of old games that I know of. I know there was Beyond Good & Evil and Psychonauts but those were done by the original teams themselves, not others trying to skive off their work... although I believe BG&E didn't need 'enhancing' and was probably just a gimmick to drive sales on the Xbox 360.

Again if you don't like enhancements, you can always play the originals any time you like. As for doing enhancements by people who were on the original team. IIRC a number of the people on the team worked on BG/BGII. Also it's not being ported to the XBox360 (it's probably not powerful enough due to it's small memory).

I'm not trying to pick on you or anything, I just fail to see the point of your RAGE over this?

Enhanced is fine as long as it actually IS ehanced, the problem occurs when enhanced means different things to different people.

Fuck you guys. I, for one, hope they add co-op and achievements.

Some proper romance could be good, too.

Next thing you know, Fall-From-Grace will have a real brothel and every woman in it is a romance option.
