Shame, I was looking forward to this. They probably also pushed it to avoid clashing with the Dark Souls 3 release.

This has been on my radar for awhile and while I dislike rogue style games this looks fun, although one of the best feelings in the Souls games is mastering a level where you develop your combat tactics for some situations and try different approaches for getting ambushed. Here the random generation is likely to make many no win scenarios because the combat system doesnt seem to be deep enough to compensate and that has to be very fine tuned as to not to feel cheap to players. The Dark Souls influence is very clear but so far it only goes for combat mechanics since the most important elements for a good Souls games (setting and level design) are simply not here
Would pay a $20 in a heartbeat anyway when it is showed up on gog, but now I will probably see how it does on the comunity before trying

I have a feeling they have misunderstood Dark Souls, a bit like how the designer for Dark Souls 2 misunderstood the original when he created the sequel. With that I mean the focus on player death. Yes, the original Dark Soul was hard, and it punished mistakes. But Dark Souls 2 had so many damn cheap moments that outright just killed you giving you no chance to react. And I have a feeling this game will be the same. Every trailer focus on player death. Look we are Dark Souls, you will die! ALL THE TIME! Hilarious right?

Wait for DaS3.

The fact Bandai Namco is jumping in leads me to belive they know that Souls like is still a pretty good sales pitch and see some potentiak for this game to be successful and with that price range it seems custom made for download only release. Hopefully a bit more time and money can fine tune this more.
I might have a look at it if only because Of the combat system...now if they added some sort of cutomization or different outfits then Inwould be more interested

This game isn't really very interesting to look at I think (I mean the action of it, the art style's pretty cool) but I could definitely see it becoming addictive when playing it. Hopefully it'll be good.

He takes a lot of damage. Blocked some hits but seems no dodge or armor...
Another thing - enemies don't react after being hit.

This looks like a generic action game, not a roguelike?
Any game with some content being procedurally generated is a roguelike now.
No saving, one life is also the thing here. Although there is the thing where you get permanent upgrades, which isn't roguelike, but is cool.

At this point in our shared history, there's no reason to jump on anyone for using the word "roguelike" any more. It's like getting mad at someone for calling Fallout 4 an RPG. No one is right or wrong.

Invictus said roguelike. Harebrained themselves describe this game as "third-person action with Rogue-lite dungeon-delving".

Looks pretty bad. The animations have no sense of weight or collision. Looks a lot more like Risen than Dark Souls, which is pretty much what you'd expect would be the ceiling for an action game from HBS.

Risen attacks have way more impact than this men.

I actually went and looked at a Youtube video of Risen to refresh my memory and yeah Risen even looks like a couple ticks up from this. I had mentally slotted Risen as "poor man's Dark Souls" but it can get poorer.

(I really liked Risen anyway if that butthurts anyone, but Risen isn't a procedural dungeon crawl with Gamecube characters)
