I hope they make an Enhanced Edition of every RPG from my childhood. They always do such a fantastic job!!!

NWN:EE is a must-buy on day one!

Sad thing is, this game could actually use a engine update. The graphical performance of the game is atrocious in even slightly slow gpus because of the way the tileset architecture works with the engine (imagine hundreds of draws).

And the fucking camera could have a few updates too. Oh well, there is a engine reimplementation project already (xoreos) but fortunately it's not yet at the stage that Beamdog can just swipe opensource code and resell it (like with scummvm and various 'enhanced editions').

I hope it releases soon, though and isn't some project they announce and then work on for twenty years. Waiting for the patches for Baldur's Gate and what not is unbearable.

 Isn't that nice? We were worried they might do something new, but they're too busy doing what they always did: selling mods.

Can't wait for some more Oyster interviews where he talks about the shitty coffe-bean textures of the original (though in NWN's case at least he'd be right) and how hard they worked implementing a blur shader or whatever.

Yo LESS T_T, you think this is the D&D project they were hiring for in OP? Seems like that's a different project still. Which means...split!

They are supposed to be backwards compatible, though of course concern has already been expressed by some content creators.

Expect incompatibilities, glitches and bugs. Afterall, their Infinity Engine EEs are still being patched (to 2.5).

That said, the EE is gonna be great for the community overall. I would ignore the negative Nancys here: the Codex has been irrelevant in regards to NWN commentary since the first review by Saint.

You can tell they are quite worried. They are reaching the bottom of the barrel.

I have the feeling they will now try to remaster games from other studios. Fallout 1 and 2 are obvious choices.

STOP GIVING THEM IDEAS, YOU BASTARD!!! MY POOR CHILDHOOD...!!!

Eh, not really, but I just thought I'd toss it out there :P

Do you think some of the bigger mods like swordflight and aielund saga will work? I wanted to play them a while back this year but i made the terrible mistake of playing the OC first and it absolutely murdered my desire to play the game any further.

I have my doubts about this reviving persistent worlds as they were are, but if it causes problems for community modules then it's really not worth the effort. And yeah "most mods will work" means nothing until we see actual casualties because I doubt most modders, even if they're still around and active by some miracle, will go back and rework their mods for EE.

- Controllable followers?
- Stop player input in dialogues?
- Attach parameters to scripts in the Toolset?

No? Ah, it's no. What was I thinking...

I think it's a great deal, Beamdog "enhances" the games

And I pirate them! HAR HAR!
it’s not even worth pirate it, the base version in perfectly playable.

a real EE should involve new graphics new animation new 3D models a restructured multiplayer, more player each server etc etc

I have to say, even though I have no expectations regarding Beamdog's work, I'm still a bit disappointed. A few days ago it looked like they were going to take the crazy and stupid step of making a new Planescape game. That would have provided countless hours of entertainment, if not the game itself then the codex topics about it.

To be honest, if it assumes full compatibility with mods, I will gladly pirate it and use it instead of the original.

So thanks, Beamdog, I guess... ?
