The whole thing where an RPG must support pacifist options and pacifist playthroughs to be considered a Real RPG(tm) with Real Choice & Consequence(tm) is more of an oldschool 2002-2010 Codex thing.

I also actually am very skeptical about the game and its non-combat. But I just found the chance to throw in a nice snarky comment god damn it, why must you all ruin it for me?

The RPG Codex fallacy: In every RPG we try to find out if there is a non-lethal play-through possible. When someone releases an RPG with no combat we are hesitant to call it an RPG any more.
I think you're missing the point, the RPGs with the best non-combat interactions, starting with Fallout, generally rely on a high level of interactivity and freedom and the fact it seems you couldn't enter the room and punch random NPC's face without relying to some option in a scripted dialog mode in No Truce With The Furries (I haven't followed the game as much as other people here but I guess that's what they mean by "no combat", right?) would really not be reassuring. Then there are mandatory or close to mandatory death situations, and overall freedom, and once again there are reasons to be skeptical if it's all scripted with only dialog choices. But maybe it won't be, in CYOA books, as well as in P&P, there are a lot of important situations like "there's a precipice, what do you do?" and what translates this as well as more generally P&P non-combat interactions the most in video games as far as I'm concernced is Sierra classic adventure games such as Space Quest. And it's really where No Truce With The Furries may or may not shine, in a actual Quest for glory way with good exploration and interactions relying on stats since it has tons of stats (but you may notice that Quest for glory has combats).
