The Watch weighs in on the controversy:

Also, looking at this thread there…what's with all the silly icons they're handing out to one another? Seems a bit queer for these old timers.
Could be the beginning of brand new BSN. ;)

You know, I sacrificed up my brofisting privilege for the greater good, but no one ever told me it also meant sacrificing all the other buttons with it.

I'm beginning to think that we need Alignments to divide ratings into.

Thus one will be able to differentiate different types of posters by their ratings.
Dunno, having to decide whether a post is Lawful Andhaira, Neutral Cain, EA Evil, Sawyer Neutral or True Avellone can be quite the bother.

You know what wouldn't be a bother? Having just brofists. So reinstate them.

No, I do not miss the brofists. They were a lame popularity contest in the beginning and got lamer with the brofist voting.

Though it was hilarious that they used jcd as a patsy in order to turn the Codex into a microcosm of the Weimar Republic...

The quality of the posts here has improved significantly since they did away with that facebook crap. If we got rid of the ratings system entirely would would improve even further.

Nah, I like the buttons. They give people who really have nothing more to say that "I agree" or "I disagree" a way to give feedback without cluttering the thread with their banal one-liners.

It also provides a way to take the pulse of the codex on certain issues and it's amusing to watch trolls simply get shit-rated, rather than provoke long, off-topic arguments or derail threads - and while that does still happen, I think it takes some of the wind out of their sails.

Yeah, let's dumb down discussion and replace it an entire rainbow of awesome buttons.

Ban Lambchop for advocating popamole.
